We spent 3 windows chasing Kvistgardeen, had apparently bid £6m for him, then ‘sources’ were saying they wanted £13m and he went for £7.5m odd? We * about with that one. Although I’m not certain that the price was always £7.5m they’d accept, we would have paid that last season when we were going out our way to show Rodgers the promised backing to him would happen.

Think going into this summer we asked the question early on and then moved on quickly, not going to make the mistake again.

I would be * thrilled with Vardy if it’s going to be Idah, Vardy and another quality option.

If it’s Maeda, Idah and Vardy with a quality LW option coming in I would be delighted with it.

He still had a decent return for a really bad Leicester down there while coming in and out the team. He has an attitude I love, he has vast amounts of experience, BR knows him inside out and how to use him.

That as a 3rd option or not even 3rd, that as an option to use when it’s needed I’d be delighted. It’s similar to how I think about Forrest just now, delighted for him to be there to use but wouldn’t like him being the main choice after the window.

If a 38 year old Vardy is brought in, at this stage of the window I think he’s the only one going to come in up there. If it was the role I’m saying I would like him he’d already be here. Rodgers is turning to a freebie he knows well and we can get because he knows he needs options and we aren’t giving him anything other ones

EDIT: Actually looking at him last season, 9 goals and 4 assists in the Premiership for a terrible team, 35 games, minutes wise he was on the pitch for the equivalent of more than 31 games. Year before in the Championship he scored 18.

That doesn’t scream useless for us.

But he hasn’t had a pre-season either, that has a big effect never mind at 38. Doesn’t change my thoughts on it but how much he played I didn’t know, he was fit enough to make a impact at that level still. Don’t know how, guys diet and stuff is well known, he’s a freak of nature :56:

Don’t really see the issue, people weren’t happy, initially, when we signed hart.

He’s a quality striker, he can do a job for a season or two and has a lot of experience he can pass onto the other strikers like Kenny, Osmand, Shin and Idah.

Worst case scenario, he’s * and we spent some money, not like we’re spending it on any players anyway.

Aye it doesn’t seem like a baseless rumour. We never know 100% but usually the ones that have substance and the ones that are just * we can generally read what ones what.

Not always right on them, but this one doesn’t seem like media bullshit. Who knows though, us linked to Grealish off one * source just as Rodgers done his interview demanding ambition I filed under absolute * then we got mentioned bout enquiring when he moved to Everton there, I file the enquiry we apparently did as a * as well knowing it looks like ‘aw we tried’ but still :56:

If I had to bet right now, Vardy will sign for us next week or so. Might even be in the stand without an announcement, which is very Celtic as well

I’ll be very happy with him signing and see the issue mate. Kaspar and Hart both we got in early enough. If Vardy was the plan for this window, why the * have we waited this long for one? And a 38 year old bosman being the plan for 2, why?

He will be a good signing for me, the only worry is no pre-season for him for me. I definitely see why people would complain, I will if it’s Vardy alone. If we get a LW to move Maeda up front I’ll be delighted. If it’s Vardy, Idah and a toss up of Kenny and Yamada I won’t.

I’m assuming in they scenarios we replace Kuhn on the RW as well there. If it’s just Vardy and that’s a wrap for the window, then I’ll be peeved there

As a signing, I'm not against the idea of bringing him in. He's got bags of experience and the idea of him coming in for a year or two isn't a daft idea. He was still banging in goals in the Premiership last season so even at 38, we could do a lot worse.

However, it does continue to raise a number of questions over the recruitment process as a whole. Why haven't we done the signing, already? He's a free transfer. It could have and should have been done weeks ago. Is this really the sort of scouting we are carrying out and if not, who are the alternatives to bring in? I refuse to believe that we can't sign a young, upcoming striker from a smaller league in Europe for a fee of £6m-£10m. The Romanian boy looked very good, although I do know it looks like the Cluj director was a bit of a loose cannon. Even still, if it's £8m, get him in. I think that's where we should be going.

We've brought in Shin as a cheap option, brought in Osmand as a young striker. Idah clearly not working out for the fee we paid. Kenny will clearly go out on loan, with a view to leaving permanently next season. We just seem to be in a bit of a mess right now.

Hes no 40 tho. We're talking about him now. 38. Did you celebrate your 40th on your 38th?

    Bring the young buck home.

He seems like one of these mental bams that is freakishly naturally fit and won't take long to get up to speed.

I wouldn’t have a single issue with his fitness personally without even knowing what he’s been up to since leaving Leicester, he’s clearly one of they busy * that can’t sit on his *. He’ll be buzzing about somewhere, if it’s no a training field it’ll be a gym.

He joined Palace January 2017, Rodgers first season with us. Not to say he wasn't fully aware of him from seeing him play against his Leicester side though.

If he were to score against the huns at Parkhead l wonder if he would sprint the length of the park just to stand in front of the away end? :36:

l suppose if he signs it rules out the chance of getting Wayne Rooney out of retirement to play for us

Look at how quickly we moved to get trusty Engels and idah though? Kvistgarden is following the same methods we’re seeing with breum and a few other players. This method must be club scouted players who Rodgers doesn’t necessarily want….but is happy for the club to get them in if it’s for cheap and doesn’t effect the budget he has for players he specifically wants.

there’s no other logical explanation why we’d pay the value for some…then incrementally increase for others
