How is a new signings expected to do anything - hes someone who would have been match fit given how the Japanese league works.

Was one of the clear standouts in pre-season - KT needing managed - yet he doesnt even get on the bench.

What is the actual point, Rodgers can make digs in interviews about the board and getting recruitment sorted all he wants and fans will agree But equally that doesn’t absolve him of managing the squad and atleast make a * point of it by using those who've been signed to prove a point if you must to evidence.

    * all being proved buy refusing to play signings. Scales may train well and is a try hard, much like other players like McCowan, Ralston and all that ilk. Just * try Inamura for 45 minutes

This signing just seems an absolute nonsense. Not because the player doesn’t have ability but he has been brought in with absolutely no plan whatsoever of what to do with him.

He features throughout preseason and does fairly well, start the season and he isn’t even making squads. On so many levels this just feels a terrible way to treat any player.

Bring him half way around the world then just have him sat about when it comes to game days even though there is a gap for the position he covered in preseason.

I thought he was top 3 most impressive players in pre season which makes this even more strange.

That rumour came from celtic underground. So it can be treated as utter bollocks.

JSP and Inamura both training day and smiling away so..

In isolation, a lad with less than 40 total senior appearances in the J-League getting left out of squads and given time to bed in and get up to speed makes completely sense. When he's one of your standout performers in pre-season, in a position you've no depth in and are currenly relying on Scales to do a job for 30 minutes every game, and the manager even said he was surprised with him, it makes zero sense.

Did Scales even play a minute at left back in pre-season? Swear it was all Tierney and Inamura?

Regardless of Rodgers’ bizarre selection decisions, pre-season is pre-season.

    We need a left-back.

No Scales only played pre season at CB but tbf we only had 3 fit centre backs for most of pre season. Welsh did his shoulder in Cork and CCV was recovering from surgery so we only had Scales, Murray and Trusty. We actually had McPherson filling in at CB in a few of those games. We had 4 LB options for pre season in Tierney, Frame, Mongomery and Inamura.

Think Rodgers trying to prove a point to get more proven quality in.. and you can't blame him, obviously feels he can't deputise for a long period.

It highlights the perfect storm we're in just now, Rodgers won't be staying beyond this season, the club are making signings that he doesn't really want and are fearful of backing him properly as he'll exit in the summer.

He’s done it because he wants a new left back. Nothing else to it, doesn’t care how good Inamura could possibly be…he’s determined he wants a new left back in. Which is ridiculous cos we have KT. How are you gonna convince anyone good to come and not be a starter? We couldn’t even convince Taylor to stay.

guaranteed we end up with a Premier league reject here on loan or Schlupp signs on last minute

Aye I wouldn't fancy Inamura for a sustained run when :fear: KT gets injured..

Why was Hayato Inamura not included in your Champions League squad?
: He’s not at the required level yet. He needs more development and possibly a loan. He has talent, but defensively he’s not ready for this level.

If he had a good pre-season then got some competitive minutes and looked lost then that would sound fair enough, but to get binned straight out without playing a second of our opening games, to me it still really looks like Rodgers is just making a point about his/club signings.

    Bit more from Brendan

And there was no room for Hayato Inamura in your Champions League squad. Can you just elaborate on that decision?

"Yeah, very easy. He's not quite at the level as of yet that I would expect. The plan for Inamura was to come in and train and see where he was at with the possibility of going out on loan because he's only had a year's football. He came in as a center half, stroke left back, but his defensive qualities aren't at the level that would see me put him in, even if I had to. So it's as simple as that. So that's why he's not involved.

“He's played in some really good games against Cork and Queen's Park, but the reality is that's the level that you play, you get 80% of the ball and you've got the ball. But we also need a player that can defend. And we're hoping that over the couple of years with experience and with maybe a loan, that can that that can take place. But at this very, very moment, that's why he's not in the squad. It's as simple as that."
