It's honestly like some kind of sick joke.

39yo from a relegated PL club. Scored only 9 goals in 36 games last season and he got plenty of starts. Stats work out as 1 goal per 3.5 hours of football.

Massive difference in playing for a terrible Leicester side in the EPL than playing for us in SPL..

I honestly at this stage don't want him, but to be fair, I think 10 goals or there abouts for a relegated team is generally a decent return.
Southampton's was 4 goals last season?

Going by memory, Hooper got 8-10 in his season too.
It's not that often that an EPL striker scores more than 20 a season I'm sure.

Drogba only twice got 20 or more in his entire career, let alone in the epl - where he got 10, 12, 11, 5,5,8 in his other seasons at Chelsea in the epl.

Vardy record last season is actually decent to be fair to him.

Aye in no world should 9 goals in a relegated team be scoffed at.

Liam Delap only had 3 more and he's lauded as the next big thing for England

You may have a point but I still don't want him. If he was that good, Leicester would be renewing his contract. If they don't see him as good enough for the Championship, I don't see him as good enough for us to take to the CL.

More than that, it is just an embarassment to be relying on washed-up English cast-offs. How many flops have we had over the years that came to us that way? We should be nowhere near this.

    I do totally agree though.
Don't want him. Not in the role that he would inevitably be - should the rumours be true.

I'd have taken him as a backup to a main long term striker and clearing the likes of Idah out and not having signed the rest as well.

    Just seems pointless now

Scored more last season at 38 years old for a dogshit Leicester side than Edouard or Hooper ever managed in the Premier League in their 'primes'.

Brendan Rodgers has provided an update on former Leicester City and England striker Jamie Vardy, as transfer speculation continues to link the forward with a move to Celtic.

Vardy has been a free agent since his departure from the Foxes at the end of last season. In recent days, the 38-year-old has been linked with a move to Celtic, though a number of sides in England remain interested in the forward's services, such as Brentford and West Bromwich Albion, as well as Championship side Wrexham.

Celtic take on FC Kairat in the Champions LeaguePlay-Off qualifier first leg tomorrow night (Wednesday, August 20) in Glasgow, with the return leg due to take place on Tuesday, August 26 in Almaty, Kazakhstan

At the pre-match press conference at Celtic Park, Rodgers touched on the speculation surrounding the player he used to manage at Leicester. He said, "Listen, I will not speak about any individual player.

"Of course, I worked really well with Jamie; he was brilliant for me in my time at Leicester. But no, there's there's been so many names floated about, but I wouldn't disclose either way.

In 500 appearances for Leicester, Vardy scored 200 goals in all competitions for the East Midlands side. He helped the side win the English Premier League in 2016, before going on to lift the FA Cup under Rodgers in 2021, winning the Community Shield later that year.

He made 26 appearances for England across three years, scoring seven goals, while representing his country at EURO 2016 and the 2018 World Cup.

Really dont understand why more people arent * livid about this.

How much is it gonna cost us in wages, bonuses, and signing on fees for a * 40 year old??? With zero resale value.

Meanwhile we NEED three * wingers. We Kyogo replaced, not 8 months of nothing and now talk of a 40 year old band aid. We need lb cover. We need CBs. We need a new centre mid. * me!

    I mean ffs.

All the patter in here is people actually trying to hype themselves up and see at as some sort of victory. He'll score for fun blah blah blah. A * shaved monkey could score for us in the SPL as long as the service is there ffs.

Influx of stranger danger posters who ive literally never seen in here, all in happy clapping about what great condition hes in. Like the time Sevco signed that Welsh * has been, and some * came in here telling us WE were in trouble because he was still world class.

    * WAKE UP.

If anything it shows the utterly DISGRACEFUL state of our recruitment.

Rodgers had to go into his epl black book in his first ever season here. Ange with his Asia address book.
Now here we are back again, apparently about to sign a 40 year old "epl legend" from Brendans ex players book, because our scouting department, our manager, our coaches, our board, our CEO is all guided by the light of a self described * football doctor cant find a * striker in over 8 months with TENS OF MILLIONS in the bank.

Break out the * Champagne! Weve got Vardy. The Champions League is quaking in its boots.

    * me we are * tin pot.

Rant over, and apologies for the aggression. Im away to catch up on The Foundation. More * believable than the * state of our club.

Oh only 38??? My bad! Totally wrong about everything i said. I should delete that post.

    Thats amazing! Only 38!
We should get a tidy sell on fee then when the big clubs come sniffing.

Few years developing him, couple of years in europe and we'll get a big fat transfer.

If not, we can have him as our main striker for the next 4 years or so. Banging in 30 a season for the next 3 or 4 years.

    Win win.

"Folk love nitpicking irrelevancies" when theyre trying to deflect from reality.

    39 in practically 5 months. Which means he's 40.

But overall the fanbase should be livid about the transfer activity.

Vardy would absolutely be welcomed at Celtic i have no doubt about it if he was bookended by other signings that were clearly earmarked as players akin to the Roberts and Dembele moulds.

We are not a league two/non league team giving a "big name" and chance to continue playing football well into the twilight of their career because even for them, the aged player still means a good bit of cash influx for such a lowly club.

The fact our recruitment has been so poor in attacking signings that Vardy could legitimately come in and be 1st choice is horrendous for a club trying present as operating as a CL club.

Is he 40 or 38? Why bother typing an age that's wrong unless your wanting to exaggerate and be a dramatic *?
