It would be total suicide for CL qualification and Participation.

Anyone at all think the squad, quality and depth, is good enough for a deep run in the Europa?

Because at this stage, our squad should be pretty much setup to be going on a run to at least the quarter finals of the Europa.
If we qualify for the UCL, then 2 more in the final week to take us up that level would be the way our transfer window should have shaped up.

But as it stands, we would be very lucky with the current squad depth and quality to make it out of the league phase of the Europa. And I'm truly not exaggerating that point.

Have to admit. I’m a sucker for a debut goal or 10/10 performance after the window shuts. Can feel it happening again.

Most of the time when we sign someone it's always "they're not up to speed and will take 4 weeks to bed them in"

Last player we signed was a loan deal with no option or obligation. Prior to that we signed Yamada on 19/7 a full month after being linked. Inamura 4/7, first linked 15/6 and then Osmand, 30/6, first linked 9/6.

Nearly a full month since we signed what I expect to be a Japanese punt. The last time we signed a proper player that I can class as first team was Nygren on 11/6 - over 2 months ago and he was cheap as chips.

The level of utter, infuriating stupidity, arrogance and ignorance from our board beggars belief.

    From Celtic underground on Substack

You’ll be aware that we have a European game coming up because the big tent has been set up outside the main stand. Nothing says we don't have ambitions to play regularly in Europe like the fact our press room can be blown away in a strong wind.

We hear that work was genuinely going on this weekend to bring a player in before tomorrow night but a fee couldn’t be agreed. We have been told that a bid of £10m for an unnamed player was knocked back last Friday. Now, you need to decide if that is legit or is an attempt to shift the narrative that nobody inside the club is putting any effort in…

Following his appearance for the B team at the weekend, Osmand is rumoured to be on his way to Falkirk on loan for the season. Which lends weight to the rumour that he’s a “club” purchase rather than a “football” purchase.

But to be fair to him, at least he agreed to play for the B team. We hear that another new player was asked to play to help build up his fitness and promptly told McManus where to go.

We hear that Bolton offered us £500,000 for Kenny last week. We knocked it back as we want more than double that. As such we’ve agreed to bump his wages up. But not by much obviously.

The final rumour of players heading out this week is that Millwall are rumoured to have enquired about Idah.

Incoming is all currently based on who will be offered to us from friendly agents. Which, given the way we have conducted our business so far, is a group that is getting smaller by the day. The general vibe around our “strategy” this window is that we believe the best bargains are to be had at the end of the window because sellers are keen to offload players and prices can be beaten down. And given we have appointed Tisdale who is a mate of a mate of Dermot Desmond then we seem to think we have the ideal man to get us value for money.

The interesting thing about DD is that he’s not the majority shareholder. He’s merely the biggest shareholder with 34.6%. He’s fortunate that the Bank of New York Nominees Limited with their 17.8% seem to agree with him on almost every voting decision. It’s unclear whether they support him in bringing Josh Honohan to the club though…

So we are currently doing a “Vardy” - that means we are waiting by the phone hoping that folk don’t get the move they wanted and we will be the fall back position. And you thought I’d made him up as a possible didn’t you? It is no coincidence that his name was in the paper today - if I was his agent I’d be trying to bounce Celtic into committing at this point as well. Thing is, it looks like it has worked and he’ll be finally in a hoops jersey just the decade or so after Lennon tried to get him.

This week we hear that the press have been told Alex Murphy, Jarne Strueker, Etienne Youte, William Boeving, Max Fenger, Jordan Holsgrove and Maxwel Cornet are all interested in joining us. At the time of writing we have no idea if they’re real players, FIFA regen names, or just Dermot Desmond’s golf partners, never mind whether there is any genuine interest on our part.

Now, normally we’d spin each of those names out into a half hearted “funny” paragraph each but frankly this window has got to us so that’ll need to do you.

Never mind comments about Brendan taking his tie off - I’m going to have my shoelaces and belt removed if this transfer window goes on much longer.

I know there is likely absolutely nothing in that player list but I would take most of them.

Cornet I think would be a good signing, can play anywhere up the left of the pitch still only 28. Wages would be high but they would let him go for a modest fee.

Steuker is a player, I wanted us to sign him before he went to Genk, when he was at STVV speaking of them our old target Ryataro Ito is flying for them this season so far with one year left on his deal.

Boeving would be a good pick up too, he will leave Sturm Graz by the end of the window but wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up in Italy or Germany.

Holsgrove is a very tidy midfielder but we are staked in there. He is someone very much in the deep lying playmaker mould.

Just watched a wee video of Boving and he looks really good. The type of striker that would do well for us as he can link the play and work the channels but also good in the box. Power in both feet..
