Last year we signed 4 players in the last week of the window.

In anges first season we signed 3 on the final day alone.

It's been poor so far but if analysing previous windows, if anything, it shows that we are busier in the final week. Rightly or wrongly.

Ipswich have sold 2x players for £50m this week. Just watching the game on sky.

Hutchinson for £40m and a guy I'd never heard of for 10m. We really need to stay clear of England if we can.

To minimise all our future stress levels and general angst/anger/frustration/hopelessness caused by the current club board/blazers, I propose this thread is only started with 1 week to go for future windows.

England's good for quality youth never given a chance and now dumped or taking risks on "used to be dynamite and lost his way" type of players.

Otherwise, aye * that. Way to expensive.

Or alternatively we could pin all our hopes on players not making EPL squad cuts in the last week of the transfer window and being desperate for a move.

Why plan ahead and do silly things like proper scouting when you can just cross your fingers and roll the dice?

Saw Breum against Ajax this morning, just after being taken off around the 70 min mark. I like what I saw, he's a very clever player, the positions he picks up in between the lines and his eye for a pass are very impressive, busy little player too.

The one thing I took from it is that he is never a winger in a million years, he just doesn't have that pace or strength to play out there but I definitely think he's a player we should pursue. £5m is a fair price given his age and potential.

We aren't signing him not a chance. Nygren is in there for that position.

I what way? He got two expensive signings last summer, another in January. He's lost a big player each summer but he knows that's going to happen if your team succeeds.

He may well be but I can't remember Celtic not making signings in the final week. I'd be surprised if another 3 didn't come in. A left back, and two forwards (at least 1 being a winger).

I don't think we are really interested in Breum, he's not for me, but I think Nygren will have a floating role this season, alternating between seven and ten when the occasion demands.

I think we have a new right winger already identified and earmarked.
Paul Tisdale is not being paid good money by Celtic to sit on his *.

I think irrespective of who we bring in between now and the end of the window - you would have to say its not been well conducted. Doing some business late in the window is pretty normal, but leaving key business to late in the window is questionable.

We have started the season with Tierney who clearly is not fit enough to play a full 90m and being covered by a Scales as makeshift LB.

We have a long term injury to one starting winger and sold another. Both issues known weeks if not months ago. That hasnt been reinforced and we are having to make do with back up players there or moving Nygren there as cover.

We have gambled on leaving the squad this way for some big fixtures - especially a CL qualifier. So far we have got away with it with a soft draw but I dont think that really justifies the decision. Rangers dropping easy points and us pickin up the maximum has also been a bonus.

And the manager is being sent out week in week out to answer questions on recruitment that he clearly has no answers for and for all the world looks to be completely in the dark over.

With all the money we have sitting in the bank - this isnt a great look or indicative of a board thats serious about challenging the team to progress. You dont have the kind of interviews Rodgers is releasing regularly if all is running smoothly behind the scenes.

We may well get some good players in late in the window but you would ask questions around why, with the money we have, this cant be done in advance of the season starting when there are clear shortages in certain areas. Or why the clubs recruitment appears to not be communicated properly to the manager in charge and leaves him dealing with a lot of unnecessary noise

Multi million members of the Celtic Board, tell Multi Millionaire Brendan Rodgers, how we are conducting our transfer business. There is no great secret, money talks, and all clubs have their own historical way of doing business, we are no different. We currently have a four point cushion potentially going into the Ibrox game, even if we lose, it won't be the end of the world, though it still will be to some on here.:giggle2:

We'd still be top of the league arguably with a one point lead if that were to happen, and I am not saying it will.
We sign the rumoured 4/5 players last week of the window, and everything will be hunky dory again.

He sounds more and more fed up with every interview he does. Everything he says like needing to come out of windows stronger than you went in and being here to progress the team not maintain it, the board are doing what looks like the exact opposite, can't imagine him being happy with that.

An oversaturated, overinflated and overhyped league full of mercs and delusional snobs.

Shopping in that festering * bubble is a massive mistake. The same dump that had a team pay nearly 20m pounds for Oli McBurnie ffs.

    Joke.

The fact that the last 20 years, the most successful in financial terms in the history of the game, EVER, has seen an English club lift the European Cup only 5 times out the 20, tells you everything. Especially considering they now DWARF leagues like La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga financially, and have done so for over a decade now.

We have no * business going anywhere near that market.

We dont need to go hoking through bins, but like * should we be shopping at Waitrose.
Get yer fruit and Veg at LiDL, and hit up Sainsbury's for the rest.

Its mental the English transfers on Sky Sports news. The going rate for an average player in the EPL now seems to be £30-40million just for ok like Crystal Palace and Everton type players.

    Ugochukwu Longstaff Dewsbury-Hall
    Ouattara McAtee Hutchinson Adingra
    Broja Delap

Those midfielder/forwards have moved in England from one team to another for £250million in this window.

For that price a Celtic fan should look at those players and think we'd be sensational if we had them but they look about the level of guys we usually have and we pay like 10x less than that for players.

    Like

    Engels Bernardo
    Jota Nygren Maeda
    Idah

    Would give

    Ugochukwu Dewsbury-Hall
    Ouattara Hutchinson Adingra
    Delap

a game and they cost like £30million compared to £200million.

Now, I'm not up to speed on all that * just now, but was drinking with a couple of mates last night who're Villa and Utd fans and they were mentioning about the transfers between the "lesser" teams in the league being much higher and that it's allowing them all to collectively get around the PSR restrictions... I mean, a league wide conspiracy is way too far fetched, but it may be that this kind of dealing becoming the norm is just an evolution because of it, in a league where money available far outstrips what they can legally declare...

I agree with every word you've said, up to the point where you recommend buying fruit and veg from Lidl. What are you, an animal?

Last season Chelsea and villa both transferred a youth player between them for roughly £20m odd so they had extra profit on the books to boost PSR. Whole market becoming a farce down there.
