I get it's preseason, but lets hope that is not the first XI of choice going into the season. Obviously some on the bench but a trialist there also... hmmm.

Sadiku spent the summer as a Swedish tv pundit at the Euros rather than doing her job.

Two weeks before the season proper starts. This is the first pre-season game (I think?).

A slew of players left, including important first choice ones, while just 3 have been brought in and at best its a sideways move - and in one instance literally a backwards move. :/

Celtic FC Women are delighted to confirm the signing of Canadian full-back, Aislin Streicek on a two-year deal ahead of the new season.

Arriving from Boston College in the US NCAA Division One, the 22-year-old played a key role over the past two seasons, and was an ever-present in 2024 as the Eagles recorded their highest number of victories since 2018.

Streicek came through the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Academy before moving into the US college soccer system with the University of Alabama. She spent two seasons with the Crimson Tide, helping the team reach the prestigious College Cup in 2022.

Bringing pace and an attacking threat going forward, Streicek adds further quality to Elena Sadiku’s defensive options for the season ahead.

Celtic FC Women Head Coach, Elena Sadiku, said: "Aislin is a very talented and hard-working player who will bring real energy to our team.

"Her physicality, strength, and pace will fit very well in how we want to play both in possession and out of possession

Celtic FC Women are delighted to confirm the signing of American goalkeeper, Adelaide Gay, on a one-year deal ahead of the new SWPL campaign.

The 35-year-old arrives in Glasgow following a spell in DC Power in the States, adding her expertise to Elena Sadiku’s goalkeeping department.

The shot-stopper began her professional career in 2009 with Pali Blues in the USL W-League after a college career at the University of North Carolina, helping the side to a league title in her debut season before going on to feature in the NWSL with Portland Thorns and Washington Spirit.

A league winner in Sweden with Kvarnsvedens IK, where she helped secure promotion to the top division, she also lifted the 2017 Icelandic Women’s Cup with IBV.

Further spells followed in Norway with Klepp IL, and Denmark with FC Nordsjælland and Fortuna Hjørring.

Celtic FC Women Head Coach, Elena Sadiku, said: "Adelaide is a great goalkeeper who has played at a high level in several countries.

'I had the pleasure of working with her during my time coaching at Fortuna Hjørring, and I know first-hand the quality she brings.'

"Her experience will be a real asset for us this season, and I’m excited to get her on board."

Considering that Barclais left at the end of last season and it has taken until the day before the start of the new season to bring in a replacement really underlines a serious issue in itself.

And finally bringing in a new GK to take over from Kelsey Daugherty. Adelaide Gay's arrival has been necessary as Chloe Logan and Lisa Rodgers have been playing there during the friendlies and neither has really established herself as first choice, but considering that both got occasional opportunities as understudies to Daugherty and neither could dislodge her, so again, waiting til the day before the new season starts hardly suggests the club was treating the GK situation as serious until now.

Hope they do well and is the answer to that LB question, but that still leaves big problems elsewhere...

Such as LM/LW who can consistently create since LAC left? And there is still big issues up front, with Saoirse Noonan the only genuine striker since both Kit Loferski and Murphy Agnew were also released without replacements brought in.
