I was thinking earlier that Liam Scales is basically Paul McShane who used to play for Hull and west Brom.
I think in an ideal world Celtic would have first dibbs on ginger players because of heritage. Only problem is that most gingers are not very good at football.

I said it before and I'll say it again......

Amhrán na bhFiann (Soldier's song) is the national anthem of Ireland, not a football chant and secondly it should always be sang in Irish.

Fair enough and I revoke that last bit what I wrote. For some reason my brain categorised Scales and McShane together based on their hairstyle which was matching at one point. I hadn't considered Jinky, Burns or even Lenny tbh who are all ginger. * bless them

It was written in English though?

Most Irish people don’t even know how to speak Gaelic.

It sounds much better when sang in English by Glaswegians (with GBTP add-ons) than by Irish people in Gaelic.

    That’s a fact.

"Internationalists" is not a word to describe someone who plays for a country, and Celtic TV pundits should be sacked for repeatedly saying it

Dessers is a big girls blouse but would do well if he could be persuaded not to play act all the time.

There’s a difference between being able to sing a single song in Irish and people actually daily conversing in the language - which we both know is a significant minority of people in Ireland.

No harm to the rendition at the final you attended,I’ve watched the video and it’s impressive, but it sounds better and more emotional at The Barras when being sung by drunk Scottish people.

Who mentioned anything about people being able to converse in Irish? Im a Gaeilgeoir as thousands of people are. Our national anthem should be sang in Irish as it has been since partition and again, i couldnt give a * how it sounds in the Barras, its not a football song.

Sorry i thought the title of this thread was something along the lines of 'Post your unpopular Celtic opinion'

You seem very upset about this one.

You okay? Want to talk about it?

Only real Tims know how to sing Amhrán na bhFiann in Gaelic, the English version is for the ignorant and the lazy.

No - you just admitted it’s a football chant and no longer just a national anthem.

I’m right and you’re wrong there’s nothing more to discuss.

It doesn't really bother me but it always makes me do a double take, because as an Irishman literally the only time you ever hear it in English is when Celtic fans sing it :giggle1:
