Do we really need a new striker, I think we would be better playing maeda there.and get another left winger. What's your thoughts

I liked how we used him last year. Up front, then bring on a striker and move him to the left. Confuses the defenders. Plus it seems to work with those numbers.

The big issue here id Idah. Do we have him selling '"The big issue" or do we have him selling programes or do we let him have a seat on the bench.

He probably be happy on the bench, that's also made of planks of wood

Maeda is a very unique sort of winger and teams struggle to deal with him and he can drift central to become a second striker.

When he plays upfront he's great, but I don't think he's a unique sort of striker, and we lose such a goal threat from the left. Which is why I'd prefer him on the left

Ideally though we bring in a left winger and a striker and we can have real flexibility depending on the sort of team we're playing

For this season? If its an either / or choice then Id go new winger and Maeda through centre.

I think we probably need new of both anyway unless Yamada turns out to be a real hit.

Maedas numbers last year were amazing but his touch and finishing are little wayward for a striker and Id like a more old fashioned clinical striker in the squad.

I also think next Summer may be the time Maeda moves on. A huge part of game is that speed, energy, workrate etc. When that starts to diminish I think he could quickly begin losing effectiveness. He will be 29 next Oct which is far from old, but the way he plays the game makes you wonder how long he can keep going at that pace at this level. It may be the right time to take the big fee on him and look to replace while hes on the right side of 30. Will be a tough act to follow though for whoever comes after.

We need wingers. Maeda is our striker with Shin as nr 2 and Kenny fighting dor a place.

Idah is not a footballer and should be given away for free if needed

Maeda will only be considered a striker by Brendan if we have top drawer wingers that are better.

He could be a striker option, but I struggle to see how last seasons purple patch can repeated.
I also think Daizen himself is waiting to see if he gets the striker position before signing an extension.

Personally I'd sell as his value is at maximum - but only if we get top drawer front players in the meantime, which seems highly unlikely.

After seeing Kenny and Shin struggle tonight, we absolutely need a striker

Has Peter Lawwell resorted to making threads saying not to sign players trying to persaude the fans it’s a great idea:56:

See if you can be arsed and there’s a replay of the game, watch when Shin was on the pitch, struggle was not getting the passes he had 4/5 times he made a run he’d be clean through.

Don’t expect most * to be arsed with that but desperately want * to notice it, because the not good enough * picked up online already.

It really reminded me of BR’s first season back and Kyogo. Not to the same extent, I watched him do about 20 runs in 10 minutes and not any chance of the pass a game that season feeling sorry for him.

But it was similar. He was making great runs and the service wasn’t there. Might be guys not looking for it not used to him, the game being won already and not needing to do a riskier pass or Rodgers style. He doesn’t struggle in that way, * knows about infront of goal though, we didn’t feed him infront of it

Short and long of it is we knew over a year ago Kyogo was leaving and still * all has been done about it despite Rodgers even saying publicly. Absolute negligence.

His teams are always good for everyone chipping in but a Celtic team always needs a guy to hang your hat on. As i’ve said in another thread allegedly we don’t feel like a striker is a necessity which is staggering to me because Idah getting flung about the Bernabeu isn’t what I want to see in Europe.

The fact Kenny is ahead of Yamada has been the biggest alarm bell, Kenny wouldn’t stand out at Dundee United. How he’s got another deal is beyond me but that’s clearly where we’re at. Rodgers last season last time here Griffiths was 3rd choice the opening month of the season and he walks in to this team.

He stood out for a terrible team in the Conference League last season mate.

Griffiths scored 150 odd goals for us, he’d walk into most of our teams. Waddle in talking about it being Leigh Griffiths. Rodgers last season he should have. We had Olly Burke up front some points.

The standard of the Coference is absolutely brutal. We’d be short odds to win it. All the goals he scored the ball was battered over the top and he ran through and scored with nobody near him.

I actually can’t think of one other Celtic team in the past 15 years Griffiths wouldn’t stand start in ahead of a Kyogo, Hooper, Dembele, Edouard..

Aye you are spot on we started with Eddy, Moussa Griffiths and ended it with Burke, Eddy and Weah who is a right back now haha

We should be amongst the guys to win but far down from favourites when it’s Chelsea and *. But 5 in 6 for Shamrock Rovers in that competition I’d think is probably enough for Dundee Utd.

Griffiths if it’s him last season Ronny first season BR Griffiths not the 3rd season one when he was still here but nowhere near the team with the three you said there, Mikey Johnstone played up front when he was here remember.

But if it’s they two seasons Griffiths? He’d be next to Hooper ahead of Stokes, he was challenging Moussa the Invincible season and played a lot of games but ended 2nd choice. Remember the devastation the morning of the Hun game we found out he was injured? Then Moussa scored a hat trick?

    * he outscored all them in a season in a terrible team.

    * hate the guy but it’s because he was a talent and a waste of it. And most people wouldn’t argue that point, for a * that scored 150 odd goals. I think, 130-150 odd anyway.

We need better and comparable sort of striker to the 4 guys you named there but saying a 40 goal season striker would play just now isn’t something that makes me think wow yes he would be playing that’s bad.

    * stuck about 3 years doing * all hoping we could get him playing. Briefly did, was amazing next to Lenny then Covid happened and he’s a fat alky coming back. This is a weird point I’m choosing to die on the hill of but the * annoys me because he’s a waster, and like he’s a bad player, but he wasn’t and that’s worse that he wasn’t. The *:56:

Don’t think he was even close to Hooper I thought he was so so underrated, Griffiths is as big a waste of talent you can imagine he could have been anything if he put the work in. Never seen anyone at Celtic that call makes ball striking look so easy. Stokes was another with crazy ability but off his rocker.

i’m not disagreeing saying it’s bad he starts, I’m highlighting the drop in standards when a player that good is third choice!

For what it’s worth he’s not a bad guy he just hangs about with some absolute fannies he’s grown up with andb
