Sell Idah sign him and Strelec and we instantly go up a level.

Still don't think they've got 15m for him.

Sounds like the owner is a wild one

    https://spotmedia.ro/en/news/sport/cfr-cluj-annoucement-about-louis-munteanus-departure

CFR Cluj announced on Thursday the departure of Louis Munteanu (23 years old), the team’s forward.

The top scorer of the Superliga last season, Louis Munteanu is on the transfer list of Real Mallorca, FC Sevilla, or Rennes, and the chances of him leaving are high.

However, Cristi Balaj, the president of CFR Cluj, stated that there is also a chance he may not leave if none of the offers received by the club are satisfactory.

"(Ed. - Is there a possibility that Louis Munteanu will not leave this summer?) If the offers are not satisfactory, there is this possibility. What is important is that he is seriously preparing, fully focused. (...)

There is nothing concrete at the moment, discussions are ongoing. As long as we have nothing concrete, there is no point in developing the subject. There are chances he might leave, of course. Anything can happen in football.

(Ed. - As time passes, the chances of him leaving are lower) I don't believe that is the case. He is a sought-after player, and clubs looking for a player of his caliber bring him in even in the middle of the transfer period, it's not a problem. The important thing is that Louis Munteanu is healthy, preparing very well, and fully focused on everything we need to do," stated Cristi Balaj, according to Fanatik.

This is now the norm, teams demand the cash a player may be worth in the future rather than lose a player for £5M only to be sold on for £20M in a few years. Only benefits the bigger teams and means we’ll need to actually spend money.

While I want us to spend cash this boy is nowhere near £15M yet.

    Aye totally.
Thats where clubs need to be smart using future sell ons etc.
If we got this lad for 6-7mil with a good sell on they'll make their 13-15mil.

Idah made a huge contribution when he joined on loan. We definitely overpaid but he gave all the signs that he was going to be massive for us.

Unfortunately, a time when the first choice striker was sold, he still couldn't cement that space. He lost out to our winger.

I'd sell Idah tbh. He doesn't look like he's ever going to be the striker we need him to be.

I'd be more than happy to give Munteanu a chance.

Suppose it’s a sign of times and teams wanting more up front to re-invest into the team. Understand though this is probably where our board are struggling with negotiations and exactly why we should have a large list options to move on quickly from each target.

A fresh Louis Munteanu twist has emerged amid transfer links to Celtic.

The Cluj hitman didn't travel with Dan Petrescu's squad for their Europa League third round qualifier, which the Portuguese side won 4-1 on aggregate.

Club president Cristi Balaj claimed Munteanu was ruled out with a thigh injury. But now counter claims have emerged in Romania stating that Munteanu refused to play due to money being owed by the club.

iAM SPORT report that Munteanu ruled himself out of the clash over a payment dispute, and journalist Remus Raureanu has warned Cluj that they should sell now to maximise value instead of being forced into a cut price sale in January.

Celtic reportedly had a £6.9million bid booted out earlier in the summer, although the latest developments may offer some encouragement to try again.

He was upset because he hadn't received some money promised when signing the contract, approximately 200,000 euros," claimed Raureanu. "I don't know if he's received the money in the meantime, but from his behaviour it seems like he hasn't.

"The club should solve the problem, that is, sell him for the highest price they can get now. If you keep him and he doesn't play, he devalues, he won't be more expensive in November. At least take advantage. Give him now.

"I'm asking how at 24 years old, considering your trajectory and what potential you could have and the future you could have. You don't play because of money, because you didn't receive I don't know what money?!"

    Perfeft time to swoop then.
Papped out Europa, wages/contract not being fulfilled.
Looks a good prospect and at 24 should be hitting peak years soon.

This is why we are world best at monitoring.

You don't get these chances after a random moment of financial issues between player and selling club if you don't monitor!

To think, we could have bid properly for him and had him in the door 4 weeks ago - why do that when we can monitor the situation to the point we can grab a "bargain"

    And still n
Then put in a low bid for him and be outbid. You’re correct, we are an utter shambles.

Don’t claim to be ITK at all but speaking to an agent that works with the club regularly and is an ex player of ours this morning and apparently this is the only striker we are fully pursuing and if we don’t get him we won’t move on to anyone else.

The words used were “the club don’t think we need a striker as much as i do.”

Said we are aiming for 4. two wingers, left back and striker but the two wide men are non negotiable.

I mean it makes sense. Get wingers in and meada can play up top better than anyone we'd bring in.. along with super sub idah and the new 3rd choice goal machine from Japan and that position is back to strong.

    2 wing
Two wingers in makes us 1 injury from being absolutely *. We need more if Maeda is the preferred choice through the middle. However I have to say in my opinion, Maeda will never hit the heights of last season ever again. Love to be proved wrong.

At this stage I'd take 4. But I do still think that would leave us a bit short, still.
