Not being wide at all but genuinely what would you say he excels at?

I don’t think he is any more than slightly above average at anything which is something i think we have got away from in recruitment. I used to like when we woulf sign players with a standout attribute and then try and tidy up their game around

Ambitious in theory yes mate but we can all see the reality of Idah himself. He’s quite clearly not a 9 million pound player and for me can be upgraded at half that price.

Ambition is having Dembele, Eddy and Griffiths vying for one position.

 

Agree.
But as you also say - he simply doesn't want it enough.
He'll look back and have so many regrets, the opportunity to be legend doesn't come up often - and he looks likely to blow it.

 

I do know what you mean in regards to flashes but our centre forward can’t get away with being a confidence player playing within himself the majority of the time.

For what it’s worth I think we sign two wingers and no striker and Maeda moves through the middle again, if there was a priority target to replace Kyogo he’d be here by now.

 

I agree but you just know for a fact if we had spent £3mil on idah there would have been noise of “we should have spent more on an adequate striker” which goes to show a high fee doesn’t always mean quality. Look at that centre half rangers have on loan, £11 mil!!

ambition shouldn’t always equal financial. Dembele 500k (incredible scouting), edouard a big fee but at the time I’d say great scouting again as he hadn’t really played much before joining us. And then not sure the exact fee for Griffiths but I’m sure it wasn’t much?

scouting is imperative. Under Rodgers I don’t think he’d allow the club to source him a first choice starting striker. Very much seems like he wants to choose or has said no to options brought to him.
idah was his choice and I think the last thing he’ll do is drop him for yamada full time as that’s an admission of him not being able to see a player.

He has been 2nd choice. Behind Kyogo then Maeda.

He also had 3 goals in the CL, and 20 for the season.

How many strikers have scored 3 CL goals in a campaign for us?

Even outwith that, scored 87 mins to make it 3-2 at Ibrox against them, scored a late winner in a Cup Final 1-0 against the Huns.

Him on loan he was massive for a league win and I don’t think that’s something that can be argued against that, with what he has actually done for us whilst here, is there another example of somebody for us who’s done similar who is dismissed as *? He’s judged purely on the fee, and yes that’s something that shouldn’t be discounted the fee, but he’s got an attainable standard due to it for me.

I don't think he is being judged purely on his fee..

The thing for me is he looked much more hungry in his loan spell, that hunger was missing in his performances last season and so far this season and that's not acceptable.

I'm at last chance saloon territory with him.
Didn't mind the big fee, that was covered by him helping us win the title and European football and the cup final.
Would class last season as a success for him, 20 goals from limited appearances. (I'm not convinced we couldn't pluck the best striker from another team in the league and they would get 20 too with the chances we create and better players around them.)
He has a lot of good qualities which he shows in flashes but he has to start putting it together regularly, he's not a young prospect anymore and should be far more consistent and polished.
He still does some amount of * things too, bad touches, not using his body and not playing between the posts often enough which I'm always gonna call out while still praising any good he does.
Really hoping he can kick on consistently.

 

He only got six goals last season, id let him have this season at Hibs, but tell them we'll match any offers they accept this window. If he has a good season stick a bid in during Jan or the end of the season.

Would still want a new first choice though, Idah & Bowie doesn't excite me

 

Just watched him tonight. Much better player than Idah. We should test hibs with an offer. 22yrs old he’d do brilliantly under Rodgers

You just couldn't imagine Idah putting in a complete performance like that. He'll score goals here and there but probably around the same size as Bowie, never ever works a back line like that. Barely if ever seen him chasing every ball with that intent and causing havoc. Linking the play. Hold up play outstanding..

It's a problem as he never will for us..

 

£3M or £4M plus Kenny on loan for the season would be win win.

 

3 or 4 mill and give them Idah on loan for the season would be win, win, win.
