Add the sell on for frimpong this summer too and we got nearly £1m in loan fees closer to minus £20m

1st window rodgers had didnt work out. Although the profile of the players actually looked ok. You would have expected it to yield better. I think an element of bad luck in it rather than a decision to not back the manager.

2nd window i think was a response to the first one and an attempt to change tack a bit to secure more established quality. Can argue the success of it but think we overpaid for what we ended up with.

One thing which is a bit of a concern with rodgers is just how few signings are actually working out under him regardless of the fee.

I get all that but Celtic ain’t gonna put themselves in transfer surplus when champions league isn’t a given be different if they were guaranteed 150 mil a year like epl and do a chelsea and flood the team with players to stow the money away in the playing squad

There's not putting yourself in surplus and then there's spending £4m to improve a squad by mid August under the most successful manager we've had since Jock. Having brought in about £30m odd in the past 8 months.

There's a middle ground there that we aren't even managing to meet.

It seems like some fans agree with the boards thinking. One year of spending 'big' is enough. Normally, successfully ran clubs can do this every window. The board are playing an insanely dangerous game and it's probably going to cause us to lose Rodgers. Again.

Once he's gone they'll realise how good he is and I think many fans will, too. There's absolutely no defending how we are operating here. We have a billionaire owner who doesn't want to invest his own cash.

Whens the last time he actually did?

Big mistake not backing the guy, i dread to think who we'll end up with when he's gone.

Chelsea are an opposite extreme; we don't have to go from one extreme to another. Well-run clubs occupy a happy middle ground. It's the consistency of the 7-figure profits on player trading that is startling.

Look at it this way: if we consistently make 7-figure profits on transfers every summer and we are accumulating large amounts of cash in the bank and the fans can all see that we are not giving ourselves a good chance in Europe and the manager himself has expressed frustration in multiple windows, then clearly we are not backing the manager.

You can make an argument that it is the right thing to do from a business point of view; but what you can't do is argue that Rodgers has been backed. He hasn't. It's OK to make a profit on player trading if you get the manager the players he wants; but last summer is the only time that happened.

The Tilio thing is a nonsense.. if true..

Surely if there was transfer for him to justify blocking it would have been Kuhn.

I thought we absolutely got rid of Kuhn at the right time but not in my wildest did I expect no replacement to be in the door a month later and a CL Qualifier 5 days away... wild..

History suggests Tony Deila, Ronny Lennon or Neil Mowbray.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says he is taking a philosophical approach to transfers.

The Parkhead boss spoke to the media at Lennoxtown this afternoon ahead of his side's game against Falkirk in the Premier Sports Cup tomorrow evening.

Rodgers was asked about incomings and whether there has been any progress of late: "I'm philosophical about it", he said.

"I think that the club has always notoriously done business towards the end of the window.

All managers and coaches want the players in as soon as we can because pre-season is for preparation and you want to be as prepared as you possibly can be.

"What has gone unnoticed a little bit is that we've made a really good start. We've had two good wins and played well. I know we'll get better. I can't knock the performances over the two games to get the results.

That has been clouded a bit in the negativity surrounding the transfers. So, I'm just trying to focus on the guys that are here. There is a lot of stuff going on in the background. Hopefully we can come out at the end of the market in a good place."

Celtic have until 11pm this evening to submit a 25-man squad for their upcoming Champions Leagueplay-off against Kairat Almaty.

They can then make a further two changes to the group the day before the match.

Everyone's gonna look silly when we announced Chiesa, Sterling and Alexander Isak on 31st August.

Surely we aren’t trying use Chelsea as a justification for what’s happening. Jesus wept. It will be back to “look what happened to the huns” next.

When the links to Janssen appeared soon after I thought great, we are actually organised this year. Then it's just disappeared. Had such a positive start to the window with Nygren as well.

    Bizarre.
