If Jota hadn't have got injured so badly we may not be so pessimistic about things. Starting a CL qualifiers with Forrest or Yang on the wing, is a shambles. Nygren can operate there and it does appear a bit baffling that he is central and Engels, our record signing is on the bench.

I did hear a rumour though that we enquired about Bojan Miovski, not sure how true but came from a decent enough source.

It's a bit mad Rodgers is out at every press conference and interview for the past 6 weeks saying he wants wingers and strikers to replace what he have lost and there is nothing on it other than a sporadic link to midfielders or defenders where we are fairly well covered.

Alot of talk about value for money this week.

Players like Thompson and Lenny arrived in their late 20s and had great Celtic careers providing plently of experience

But there is no resale value. We arent even targeting players in their last year in their contracts at that age when the outlay isnt as high.

Because we are obsessed with resale value

Bringing in experienced players with little resale value often helps increase the value of those with resale value.

James Forrest is by far the best attacking player at the club right now.

This is no reflection on the player himself because he’s class but it’s shameful that a club with our riches are relying on a 34 year old winger to carry us to victory.

All the early cry’s for patience seem like a distant memory now, the support unanimously agree that our dealings thus far fall way short of what the acceptable minimum should be.

For anyone that still believes/hopes we will come up trumps with a series of good signings as the window closes then I have some very bad news for you.

We sold Kuhn a month ago and don’t have his replacement in. That’s as good a sign as any (and there’s loads of other examples btw) of how slowly the club operates.

We will be lucky to make another two signings and I bet only one of them will be first team ready.

Our three biggest outlays last Summer hadnt been done at these stage either though.

I reckon we will get the players in by end of window

The draw has been kind in the champions league and the huns already showing signs of imploding in the league, that does not make the boards strategy of waiting to the end of the window in the hope of picking up bargins right.

It will be like waiting to the end of the night so Asda put out the yellow stickers. Starving all day, could have went out and got some pizza that would be more than enough. But no you want half price steak, your £3 has to stretch. You finally twaddle down at 8.45pm waiting on any movement. And they only put out lambs liver and goats milk. By this stage theres no fozen pizza left on offer and you go home with the small asda pizza for 1 with half a topping

Two of them though were because the board wanted to wait until later in the window in the hope of forcing the selling club to become desperate to sell rather than keep the player and therefore lower the price. The opposite happened and we ended up paying MORE because we waited to last week of the window.

Waiting does not give you better value. It makes you desperate and selling clubs know that and pounce on it. Then we either cough up the money or we say no and get a desperate EPL loan. Shambolic way to do business.

Reckon Rodgers has rejected the raw projects offered by the grey brigade. Stuck to his guns amd said i want 4 up top. He's been told. Ok, fine no bother you can them. But you qualify for the CL first, then you'll get them.

There's zero reason not to. Could spend £30m now and still not make a day in the rainy day fund!!!

Can't wait for the little banner by the Green Brigade to show how angry the supporters are. Followed by pistol Pete sending them all to their rooms for the next 3 games. I'm just depressed - nowhere to vent my anger.

I dont think this is necessarily always true. It will be variable depending on the circumstances of the clubs in question, how much they want the player, how much they need to sell, how much the player wants to leave etc. A lot of business is done late in the window for different reasons.
    .
Something has clearly gone * up behind the scenes this window to leave us short on wide players though - given Kuhn left ages ago and we knew Jota was injured. I think its more to do with disagreements over targets rather than a calculated strategy to wait.

It’s what Ange done so well with, bringing in Hart, Mooy, Jura, Starfelt, GG etc all players who had little chance of making us profit but brought a good level of experience to the side being past their mid 20’s.

Thats the thing, its about balance.

Cause with every punt on young projects, we will normally see that they move on still young but they have been a huge success in their first 3 seasons max, or they dont become the players we hope and bloat the squad before we smuggle them out the door.

Where will your 30 year olds [GK aside]with hundreds of top flight experiences and European and potentially capped be?

It will be the Scottish contingent of players. That will fit that role because they are happy to be there. McGregors and Jamsey with potentially Ralston being the next. Rodgers tried to keep Taylor to join that club.

Id like to see us sign some more experience at a certain stage of their career. Add VALUE which they love but straight away
