Brendan Rodgers has given an update on his club's transfer business, following his side's 2-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Goals from Benjamin Nygren and Reo Hatate in either half made it two wins out of two in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic, as they kept their second clean sheet in as many games domestically.

Despite two of his new signings linking up well for the opener, however, Rodgers has again insisted that he wants to add reinforcements to his team. "We'll see," he said when asked if new signings will join before the upcoming European deadline. "Look, I think that I've got no news now at this very moment on where we're at." [Sky Sports]

"Our job between now and the end of the window is to make Celtic the very best that we possibly can. In the meantime, we'll continue to develop the players that are here and improve them.

"Of course, I want Celtic to live in the very best possible place that it can be. And for me, that'll be us signing more players at the top end of the pitch. But I can't magic them in there, and if they're not there, then we'll work with the players that are there and make them the very best that they can be.

"We know what we need to strengthen. We know where we want to live and be the best that we can be - we have to."

I was wondering if he was going to say, "with teams in Europe" or something along those lines.

That’s the pain in the * with the qualifiers. We will not spend anything until we see where we are. If we get in then we will fork out a few mil on a winger. If we don’t then it’s a cheap loan for unwanted epl player.

Theyre waiting for the CL qualifier outcome.

If we make it, plan B signings will be made. About 15-20m on a clutch of players.

If not, Plan C, D, E, basically the desperation signings, punts and loans.

We wont be making any Plan A signings again as its obvious the board arent happy with the Trusty/Engles/Idah signings and as I stated earlier, they will think Rodgers has "more than enough" as it is to retain the league.

The fact that Sevco have already started dropping points reinforces that thought process.

Come AGM time they wheel out the "we spent x on x players!".
And some fans will actually be * grateful for another slow, pondering and utterly substandard transfer window.
Theyll all bleat happily come the end of the window, making excuses and chatting * balls.

The guy who scored us a barrel load of goals and back playing in the position he’s not his best at cause the * that run this club will not bring in a winger.

    * shambles man.

Hearing murmurs about him going is the last thing we need right now.

But would you be shocked if we sold him as well? I wouldn’t be, I mean the job for the boys in the boardroom will be giving each other Dutch rudders to the profit from this window alone and we would replace him with a last minute loan.

Squad needs to be in for the playoff this week otherwise this is our lot.

Even at best any new signing/s will have about a week and one game to settle in absolute shambles.

"The cut-off date for submitting squads for the UEFA Champions League playoff round is 24:00 CET on August 14. Clubs must register their List A squad by this deadline for the playoff matches, and any new eligible players for the playoffs can be registered up to 24:00 CET the day before the first leg of their playoff match. The club's association must also confirm the player's domestic eligibility in writing."

So we can register someone last minute before the first leg, not that this is an ideal scenario to throw a player into our most important fixture of the season.
