We cannot allow ourselves to depend on him going forward. He’s been very, very poor again today.

and Adam Idah once again firing a blank in the north-east. Rodgers believes that Idah would benefit from more competition, with the focus on the Irishman as he tries to fill the shoes vacated by Kyogo Furuhashi in January in January.

Asked if he has sympathy for Idah, whose last Celtic goal was on May 14 at Pittodrie, Rodgers said on the 24-year-old: "Listen, there's no doubt that we need to reinforce the top line. There's no doubt

But I think we need competition at the top end of the field. So, yes, for Adam, he's a big, honest boy. He was at his best here when was really challenging with Kyogo for the position. And that is something that is important, I think, for us to get. But in the meantime, we work hard and he'll always be that reference for us.

Pressed if Idah just needs a goal to spark him back into form, Rodgers continued: "Yes, listen, you're a striker at Celtic. You have to be strong mentally. You've got to score goals, of course. But I've a lot of faith in him. He really needs that real competition beside him. And I think that's what you then get the most out of him. So, yes, he didn't quite score today, but he worked very hard. And he's given his all and it'll get better as the season goes on.”

Cut our losses and punt him to a championship club for 3-4 million if possible.

Mind he’d be great after a full pre-season with us? He’s actually got worse.

A lump with next to no redeeming qualities.

People previously suggested that we judged Idah unfairly based on his inflated price tag. However, I think its clearly the main thing keeping him in the team now. Absolutely no chance if he was another cheap punt he would be starting every week playing like this.

I also fear that Engels and Trusty no longer starting is playing a role as dropping Idah could mean writing off our 3 big money signings.

It isnt going to happen but offloading him for a significant loss would be the best outcome all round.

I think even he himself is feeling it, nowhere near good enough.

Not good enough, but if KT and maeda link up more often and get the crosses in we may see a better idah.

You have a situation where he's the last man and he's flicking the ball on but nobody is there, needs to offer more and looks really cumbersome at times.

Once JSP is up to speed, Trusty will be lucky to make the bench seeing as Rodger has Scales ahead of him.

So basically he doesn't see Yamada as good enough to offer competition to Idah.

Christ how * does he think Yamada is

Aye, thankfully I think even the hardened defenders of him have given up pretending the dislike of Idah is due to the price tag

Couldn't care if he coat 900k or 9m, he's truly one of the worst strikers I've seen at the club in a long long time.techbically just not very good at all.

20 goals sounds great last season, til you realise the majority of then came when we had already defeated teams 3 or 4 goals and he is scoring the last goal in a drubbin

I still really like Engels and Trusty and yet I have to admit that Idah has turned out to be a spectacular waste of money. It annoys me too, because he had all the tools to become a really good centre forward and I had high hopes for him; but he doesn't seem to have developed at all. Even basic things like his movement and hold up play or using his size and strength effectively don't seem to have improved at all in more than 18 months as far as I can tell.

I can only think he's either lazy or unambitious or both when it comes to developing himself.

Am afraid I'm gonna have to give up the ghost with the big *. There's just too little improvement being shown, he should be doing way better than he is and it's down to a lack of application for me. Has the attributes but is nowhere near using them enough.

Would happily sell if we get the chance.

I've tried to be on the fence with this guy, defended him etc. Thought he'd been a bit unlucky with Kyogo leaving then Maeda being unbelievable, but he's just bang average.

In an ideal world he would probably be our 3rd choice striker.

Say an on form Kyogo, with a Giakoumakis pushing him, then Idah being 3rd in the pecking order.

Nice enough big guy, but he's shown absolutely * all that he's good enough to hold down the jersey.

Going to get tough for him now as it looks like the support are done with him. If its like this when we win hes going to feel some serious heat when we drop points.

Big test of character as well as ability coming up over the next few weeks.

Isn't being the number for 1 Celtic, playing in front of 60k at home and in CL competition, pushing to be Eire's number 1 not enough of a challenge Brendan??!!

    Silly comment.
