Do you really think he has any say on 'club signings' - it doesn't appear to be the case.
That's why he wants to 'take a close look at them' and doesn't already know how good (or bad) they are.

I think he OK's the bigger targets and signings, but even then he doesn't decide the budget (edit not budget, but 'market value') - that's Tisdale.
Tisdale is as much of a lowballer as the board - why they hired him of course!

 

I don't think Tisdale has any say in budget, whatsoever.. Nicholson will make that decision, guided by Lawwell.. and Nicholson will handle the negotiations getting Rodgers to speak to the player if necessary.. as mentioned by Simpson-Pusey.. Rodgers has a hardon for the EPL

There are definitely club signings, which im ok with tbh as Rodgers won't be here next season. Again, it's difficult to know if Rodgers had said i don't want Shin for example, whether the board would have forced him to take him.

 

You are right. I should have said 'market value' rather than budget.
I believe Tisdale sets that 'market value' so if it's (conveniently?) low, we'll rarely bid above that number.

 

Tilsdale was meant to improve recruitment making it more analytical and streamlined, again difficult to know if he's done his part.. and it's the negotiations that are failing, for me that seems to be mostly the case as the players he's identified or we've lowballed bid for, seem a good fit.

 

Sween just said it, people want to see Yamada because he isn’t Kenny or Idah. It’s that simple.

He might end up being pish, he might not. But we know what we’re getting with the other two and it’s not good enough.

Kenny isn’t getting a raw deal because of his nationality. It’s because nothing about his (albeit limited) game time or his CV suggests he’s remotely good enough.

He barely got a kick last season despite us selling Kyogo, Jota getting injured and Kuhn going off the boil for months. There’s a reason for that.

 

If thats genuinely the case, then why are we bothering about our failings in the transfer window this season. If I thought Brendan was that useless I'd want him out the door. I don't consider either Engels or Trusty a waste of money. I think the market has moved on. £6M is peanuts in the market these days. Jury is out on Idah. He may indeed be a waste of money.

 

This is what's key for me.

It wasn't this bad under Ange or Lennon. Granted, Lennons final window was terrible, but at the time I remember we were all really happy with the signings.

Ange's first transfer window, despite taking a bit longer, was good, and that first January window under him was easily our best in the last 15 years.

This isnt me defending the board, far from it, I put the majority of the blame on them, but I definitely think Rodgers record in the market doesn't help.

To stay on topic, I really hope we see Shin get at least 20 minutes tomorrow, if its somehow comfortable then hopefully 30

 

Yamada was playing top tier in Japan and one of the very good players in the league he should be number two striker under idah, if you see maeda as the left winger or number 3 if you dont

 

I'll be * off if he doesn't get some games time tomorrow Thats just Rodgers being awkward if not. Most of these Japanese teams he played against are better than the majority of our league. No reason he can't come here and score a barrel load. He just needs his chance.

Engels maybe not but idah definitely was as Rodgers addressed him directly at the time saying he’d followed his career for a while and liked what he saw down south. Trusty similar was said with seeing him first hand. These two specifically also didn’t fit the mould of our other signings so screams direct involvement from the manager. Schmeichel has been a huge success, not sure he would have come here if it wasn’t for Rodgers so definitely need to give him credit there where it’s due
