That's a definite no so as Rodgers generally tries to lift expectations on the board. He wants the fans to feel let down by the board when they don't deliver what he has publicly said he expects. There is a power struggle clearly at play between the manager and the board.

Full quotes from the press conference

    Brendan Rodgers
doesn't know if Celtic will strengthen his squad before the upcoming Champions League Play-Off round as the hunt for new additions goes on.

Rodgers discussed transfers at a Celtic media conference on Friday, ahead of facing Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Celtic have added seven new players to their senior squad ahead of the new season, but frustration is building for supporters eager to see more quality arrive in key attacking positions.

Rodgers himself has acknowledged he wants to add new attackers to the group, citing the goals that have been removed from the team with the exits of Kyogo Furuhashi and Nicolas Kuhn in the last eight months.

Asked if there was anything new to update on concerning incoming transfer deals, the Celtic boss said on Friday, "I've got nothing new for you, no. It's very clear what we need to improve, and a lot of work is going on clearly by ourselves and probably every club. That's the reality of this time of the year, there's a lot of work going on throughout many clubs.

"I know the work that Paul [Tisdale] and his staff are putting in. So yeah, we're hoping that we can conclude some deals and improve the squad.

As a football club, we will want to have the best available squad that we can to get through the season. I mentioned it before, I think a manager always wants it now, you know, to prepare the team as early as you can. But we know the window shuts by the end of August and hopefully by then everything is in place, we're all stable and then ready to go."

Asked why it's been so difficult to conclude deals in the attacking areas, Rodgers responded, "There's obviously many things that go into it. I don't do the deals, so I can't answer that for you, but I know that behind the scenes, obviously, there's a lot of work, there's a lot of discussions that go on to conclude deals.

"I'm hopeful that come the end of this window, we will have those deals concluded and we get the players in that can help us go forward. I think the focus now at this moment for myself is to really make sure that the players that are here are in the best possible condition, best mindset to play the games and and that that's where we're at at this very moment."

The Celtic boss was then asked if we can expect major business before the upcoming Champions League Play-Off Round against Kairat or Slovan Bratislava.

Rodgers said, "I really don't know. That's my honest answer. We just have to keep working to look to get the players in and in the meantime work with the players that are here to make them the best that they can be."

On the subject of fan frustration being directed at the board for the transfer situation dragging on, the manager responded, "I think the board have shown over many years and numbers of years that the work will get done. And, obviously, as a group that runs the club and has run it so well for so many years, they'll look to get what they will feel is the best value for the players.

"Of course, as coaches and managers and supporters, you want the best players. But ultimately, the club will be run in a way that makes sure that both the best players and the best value are there to be made. So, that sits above me. That's something that clearly does.

"I think we support what's here at the moment. We look at our season last season, a couple of penalty kicks away from having a fantastic season both domestically and in Europe. And then this summer, of course, we want to improve the squad. And the board will want to improve the squad as well. So, I'm very hopeful that we can we can do that.

"I can't afford to get bogged down in it. We know what we need, and then I also have to ensure that the players that are here are fit, and attitudes are ready to play how we want to play, and then as the window goes on, hopefully we can add the players that can make our football smile even more."

We are a joke, the fact we are waiting until the last week or so in the window is insanity. Teams will know we are desperate and it will push up prices more. Then the aul excuse we tried will come out. Board need chased. Sleep walking into another hun ambush.

If it wasn't for Rodgers early departure last time around, he'd be gone by now, for him personally he'll want to see out the 3 years, just so he can tick that box this time around.

A club of our size and the best manager since big Jock, yet here we are with the same auld * show and shambles, it's unacceptable.

Yeah, I think sort of feels obliged to stay this time around. Plus his stock is much lower now.

He'll definitely not walk away after the way he left last time but in all honesty he's well within his rights to walk..I wouldn't blame him.

You seen it against St Mirren. Yang and Idah were essentially 2 men down, we're going to struggle a lot more than we need two of they continue to start.

100% we are. Hibs and Hearts have recruited well this summer. Hibs are doing well in Europe. Aberdeen will pose a similar threat as last season. We've gotten weaker. Purposefully. Madness.

How many times have we seen this movie. Beyond a joke now. We're beyond embarrassing, and if do end up getting knocked out in the CL playoffs, it'll be nothing more than we deserve. Sick of this * now.
