Trust us to be careering into a season completely unprepared where the overall quality of the league is at its best in 10~ years.

 

Such a shitshow, the board deserve everything that comes at them now, but if them * win the league its going to be far far worse. The season we lost the 10 sums them up to a * T. Lenny kept on despite mauling's, *....

 

It can't be gross incompetence.

It has to be by design, deliberate action by the board not to back the manager.

They think they are untouchable.

Every team in Scotland in the big 6 looks stronger except us.

Brendan said last week "in terms of attacking areas nothing is close" or words to that effect. We are another week down the line not a link, not a sniff any of the ITK brigade aren't posting anywhere.

Its sabotage of the manager its as simple as that, green brigade will no doubt get banned soon also.

Nicholson, McKay, Lawwell, Desmond and the rest of the dinosaurs need chased. I said it last week see in south America they would be * hounded.

 

We will get the signings in i think. I just dont think its an option not to reinforce the wide areas at a minimum. I dont think the board would dispute that.

I probably prefer the silence to the reports of chicken * bids for players tbh. I think theres more chance that it represents an actual change of tact rather than scouring and trying to see what we can get on the cheap.

Not having got in at least a replacement winner at this point when we knew kuhn was off and jota injured months ago is impossible to justify given the money is there. I think its become apparent there were clear differences in opinion between rodgers and the club on the targets which has created a delay.

It also seems that despite the cash reservrs we have, the club are not prepared to risk a loss making year if we dont make champions league. So that is impacting how we are dong bisiness. Im hoping the lack of noise around transfers is an indication they are waiting on the outcome of at least the first leg of the cl before putting in more serious bids for more higher calibre players.

Checking each day for word on new signings is prob just a recipe for frustration at this point. Feels like its going to be a late one before things really get moving. Not an ideal scenario but if we end up with a couple of quality players at the end of it il take it i suppose. Just very frustrating more could not have been done sooner.

 

Even if we get signings in, which we will.. if we continue the way we're going it will 100% catch up with us..

 

Correct me if I’m wrong anyone..

But we seem to be in that classic (most) year-on-year Celtic situation again… where we have had minimal transfer activity of much note and the clock ticking down as usual.

There’s lots of talk about BR being given his way with a couple of targets IF we qualify for the UCL…

… but as usual.. doubtful we currently have a squad that CAN qualify. Again.. oh so familiar.

More critically … and again correct me if I’m wrong…

.. but do uefa not require squad lists by 14th of this month or thereabouts? That gives us less than a week to bolster the team.

Even if we DO qualify and BR gets his way… none of those ‘improve the side signings’ would be eligible to play in Europe.

It just seems utter madness to plan squad improvement around qualification for a European competition when those ‘improvements’ will only be able to make a difference in domestic football.

(Pauses and reminds himself that this is Celtic Plc we are discussing.)

 

The UEFA squad list on 14th is purely for the qualifiers. We can add other players at a later date for our Europa League campaign

 

Thanks…. Not so bad.. but these issues shouldn’t even be coming into play. Everything is so last minute.. which just now looks tinpot and amateurish at best.

The old saying about “the big clubs doing most business at the end of the window” also applies to miserly ones.

 

Im not one for these folk who are screaming we need another 5/6 players. That's * ridiculous. Weve kept the team mostly together that performed great in Europe. You dont replace the lot. However, a right winger as priority would be very * good. Even a very versatile forward that can play either wing/upfront would also be ideal if we're not going to sign another actual striker.

 

I don't even know how to describe the situation. Outrageous really.

 

Surely we should be making signings to ensure we qualify for the CL rather than waiting to see whether we qualify before trying to sign players?
We will most likely make more from qualifying than it would cost to get the players to make sure we do anyway, plus we were already loaded to begin with.
Is it just me or am I missing something?
It just screams negligence and it's incredibly frustrating.

 

The reality is we need to start signing one or two extra players that will eventually replace hatate , ccv , idah . Because there will be a mass exodus next season

 

Two wingers and I’d be a lot happier with where we’re at.

It’s farcical that we haven’t addressed that yet.

 

You dont stock pile. You end up in a mess that way. In an ideal world we should have players scouted and ready to sign if they are leaving. Ofcourse that's no celtic. Amateurs on that department.

 

The only way I can describe it is “Saidy Janko in Be’er Sheva.”

 

Realistically if we want to really improve, then we do need another 5/6 players.

Currently we need a winger and striker to go straight into the starting team. And a left sided centre back, unless JSP is getting used there. So there's 2 or 3.

We still need another winger because Maeda, Forrest, Yang and one other won't cut it. So there's potentially 4 players.

Remains to be seen whether Rodgers fancies Inamura as our backup left back, and given he didn't even make the bench last weekend it would seem he doesn't. So another left back is needed. There's 5.

And although we have bodies in midfield, we still don't have a single player there who you would class as defensive minded and a ball winner. That's 6.

There's nothing ridiculous at all about suggesting we need half a dozen players. Of the players we've signed this window, the only one who absolutely starts every game when fit is Tierney. 3 of them might not see even 300 minutes of football for us this season.
