How are your confidence levels for the coming season?

Same opinion as last week.
We are a clearly weaker across front 3 but broadly the same in terms of style, strengths and weaknesses versus last season.

Key is what Rangers will be like.- so for me it's more about them than us as whether we take the SPL.
They look poor so far - but so did Ange team after 6 games.

In Europe, without a highly favourable draw we are not well set to do well.

Unless....a miracle end to the window.

 

We are heading for a disaster, anyone who can't see it is got serious green tinted board loving specs on, wheels are going to come off fast!

 

Squad is good enough to win the league and the early signs for the huns new rebuild doesnt look especially threatning. Im still not sure any of their players would get into out starting 11. You might make a case for a couple.

But we look starved of quality up front and well short of where we need to be in order to be taking European progression seriously.

Its a disappointing position to be in and its clear from the managers comments and the business we have seen so far that we are simply treading water.

 

I agree with a lot of the points you are making and we are basically on the same side, my point was that we have a stable defence where as they seem ropey in defence and their defensive recruitment very questionable.

One quality right mid with pace would make a massive difference to this side and I also think it’s important that we replace Kyogo as we should have three strikers vying for a place. This could be new striker, Idah and Yamada. Those two positions at the moment should be the priority with a defensive mid third on the list.

I think our board are gambling to see is we qualify for the CL. I really don’t know why we are operating the way we given the millions CL qualification will bring.

 

I believe we will walk the league again but are currently at risk of being embarassed in Europe. We need better attacking players and proper cover at left-back - it's as simple as that.

 

Hate to say it, but id prob take a draw at ibrox.

If we can get to september ahead of rangers in the league and qualified for the CL we will have done well given the gaps in the squad.

I fear a lot of dropped points or needing late winners this season due to wastefulness unless our front is reinforced

 

I agree with you there. I definitely think we have a stronger defence and midfield than them, not much doubt in that for me. I think they currently have better options in the wide areas and up front now, barring Maeda of course. But overall, I think they've recruited well in the forward areas. Which makes it even more unacceptable that we have made absolutely no effort to strengthen our attack. Its a matter of time before that comes back to bite us if we don't act quickly.

I'm sick to death of our board gambling, with the financial situation we're in, I find it completely unacceptable.

 

Without a doubt Id take a draw. No question.

Nothing weve seen in the last 8 months should lead us to assume we are big favourites to win that game. If we go in with a 2 point lead, a draw is a decent result.

 

Without a right winger and striker or another left winger to move maeda through the middle, im terrified

Still pretty confident about the league . The champions league not so much , if we qualify. So light up front and a few injuries and we could be looking at a few hammerings . I think we got a pretty decent draw last season could be a lot worse this year . Just need to get a couple wingers and a striker .

It all depends on whether or not we get at least 3 good signings in. If we don't we could end up loosing the league and not even qualifying for the CL. as our team as it stands is definitely weaker that last season.

 

Would feel a lot more confident with a couple of decent wingers in and if we see Shin in action and he shows some quality.

We aren't miles away despite all the hysteria but the fact we haven't replaced Kuhn or gotten cover for Jota despite having months to do so is negligent to the extreme.

 

Most crucial month of our season is this month. If we fail to qualify for CL and strengthen key areas it will set the tone for the season. Will be a difficult season if we don't get this month right

 

We will win the league comfortably. I actually think they will drop points again before the derby, and a win there would have us in a very commanding lead.

 

this is the thing that gets me the most. We aren’t miles away, don’t need major surgery, we simply need to replace the quality we have sold. 2-3 quality players in and everything looks much better and would have us actually excited. And the upside to doing that, namely Champions League, should appeal to the powers that be. Just can’t get my head around the way we have been going about our business. Or not going about it.

 

Agree with this. I don't go in for the we still need 4 or 5 players.

We are a left winger and a right winger away from being in a very good position again.

Goalkeeper, defence and midfield all look stronger than last season.
