We play the 2nd leg of our CL qualifier 6 days before the window shuts. Its an absolutely pointless strategy if thats what the board are holding out for. Thats if these so called players haven't been snatched up by other clubs in that time as well.

I think its indicative of major differences behind the scenes between Rodgers and the club in terms of recruitment strategy.

Definitely. And we could lose Brendan as a result.

Aye, I think best we can hope for is they have come to an agreement behind the scenes that if we get into CL - which is worth an absolute fortune to us, that they will reward Rodgers by getting the type of players he wants.

Maybe some of the buzz of of an extra 50Mil hitting the bank balance might even rub off on the aul lads and we get a legitimate top signing or two in.

Think there's a few on the board want Rogers gone at any cost even £50 million and so far we are sleep walking into failure not just in Europe but the league and Desmond needs to stop being the invisible major shareholder and be here for a while and see what's going on behind the scenes.

If we tank in Europe I reckon he will be away end of season. Thats where his interest lies.

Also - if we go through this season similar to how we finished last season then plenty of fans will happily see him gone too Id say

Reading between the lines it seems like BR was given Osmand, Inamura and Yamada and told to get on with it. I'm far from convinced he has much say in our transfer incomings despite what he says.

Those fans who wish to see the back of Rodgers should be careful what they wish for. We have won 2 doubles in the past 2 seasons through a period of austerity where our board have sold the likes of Kyogo, MOR, Kuhn and Jota and cheated the manager of adequate replacements.

I don't know if there are many managers out there who are attainable to us who can deliver the same success Rodgers has.

JSP as a straight loan aside. I dont even think we'd get the 2 signings now.

Rodgers was always gonna complete the 3 seasons as a minimum, but i think any hope of him staying on beyond that has all but gone, hopefully this dosen't affect our season.

Regardless of the internal wranglings within the club, we should still be run in a professional manner with a recruitment team that's on the ball, the manager having to publicly try to convince the Board to sign players is not a good look.

We'll get a few loanees in on deadline day. Valle, Trusty, Engels and McCowan signed in the final week of the the window last season but its the damning fact, we needed wingers badly for the season start and it seems we're going to wait until we're in the CL or not to decide what we're getting when we are loaded with money. So depressing and short sighted from our board and damning on how out of step they are with every other club in Europe.

Well we don't have anything else to go on unfortunately. He's been known to reject options presented to him because they're not what he wants. I don't doubt he gets presented with a list of targets and he says yes or no, especially with first team signings.

Im pretty sure this is whats happened. Hes said no to whats on offer and since hes in the last year of his contract hes going to stick to his guns. What we dont know is how reasonable / unreasonable the list of targets were.

If he was told he was going to have to make do with just the guys we brought in before Kun was sold he would have been kicking off much earlier.

For as much as the board are hammered as well, I genuinely dont think they intended on selling Kuhn and just closing up shop. I think when he the bid was accepted Rodgers would have been given assurances he was getting replacements. Where it started to unravel I think was the replacements offered werent what Rodgers was looking for and hes dug his heels in and put the ball back in the boards court.

Folk will get a shock when he goes.

We have far bigger issues than Rodgers.

There’s not many managers that could have got us through the Mark Lawell recruitment disaster with a league title.

The pressure he dealt with that season was huge and he still got us through it. He’s probably the best manager we could realistically have tbh.

I also think the expectations over the standard of football at times are so insanely high.

Ange had us playing some great stuff but it wasn't always on song. To find someone able to deliver full flow attacking football for 60 games a season is impossible. We scored a record breaking amount of goals last season did we not?

In a way Rodgers is a victim of his own success f
As he's started a period of unprecedented success which has made a lot of fans even more demanding.

    Anyway. Conversation for another thread.

JSP done now for a winger in on loan before deadline day and that will be us. Reeks of the 2018 window.

To be fair though the names we had ready to be interviewed/wanted. Maresca, Iraola, etc. all have been successes since. I actually think our scouting team is spot on.

what/where the issue is is the relationship or connection from there onwards to the decision makers (whether that be lawell, Desmond, Rodgers)

If thats the case we could be handing over 15million in taxable profit if we qualified for CL
