We gave this lad the run around just over a year ago in America, O'Riley, Kuhn, Kyogo and Maeda were far too much to handle for him

Granted he was only 18 and has perhaps came on hugely in the year since

Although last season we had Valle on loan from Barca and yet Taylor still started most weeks ahead of him so won't be surprised to see Scales picked ahead of this lad most weeks despite arriving from Man City

That’s the way it should be if they aren’t better than infront of them. Valle wasn’t than Taylor, he will be but as it was Taylor was the better option.

We had a LB on loan from Man Utd when they were still quite decent and massive, and if we had played Tyler Blackett ahead of Tierney we’d have made a big mistake. I mean, we did do that and Tierney got in because he got injured but if we dropped him when he came back :56:

My biggest worry is if he is here on the clause that he has to appear, as big clubs try and do all the time now. It used to be a rarity but is standard from English teams in particular now, Nat Phillips we had that with, financial penalty for him not playing if fit and that stung us. Until we took the financial hit and got him to *.

Pep rates him, I don’t think we have anychance of signing him, the talk being they refused any talk of an agreed fee after the loan and if he impresses here, particularly in the CL he will be out of our range.

So it’s an odd one for me, unless he is really good and we know for the season here maybe a possibility of a 2nd year on loan afterwards, he’s making a real difference. Like the two loans previous off City in Paddy Roberts and Jason Denayer. From what I’ve seen of him he does look impressive, and has a lot of potential but that doesn’t always translate to whether he shows that here or not. I only hope that we don’t need to play him as a clause of the loan, and he plays because he earns playing. Time will tell with that.

Also, have we announced it? Was sitting in Celtic gear next to Jota and that, and I don’t think we’ve actually announced it. We’re * weird for * like that

Celtic Football Club is delighted to welcome Jahmai Simpson-Pusey on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.

The 19-year old English central defender captained Man City’s under-18s side to victory in the FA Youth Cup final in 2024 before making his first appearance for City’s first-team against Celtic in the USA last summer.

Last season Simpson-Pusey was captain of the under-21s side at Manchester City as they clinched a fourth consecutive Premier League 2 title, whilst he became the first defender to be named as the PL2 Player of the Season.

After joining the champions of Scotland, Simpson-Pusey, who will wear the No. 4 jersey this season, spoke of his delight at joining up with the Celts.

“It’s great to be here.” He said. “It’s such a big club and I’m happy to come here, play in front of the fans and play for the team.

“This is a big opportunity. I want to come here and show my talent and my levels.

“It’ll be good for me to come and hopefully help the team to win the league again and do well in Europe.”

Celtic Manager Brendan Rodgers added: “I am really pleased we have been able to bring Jahmai to Celtic, and I believe he will be an important, quality addition to our squad.

“Jahmai is a quick, dominant centre half. He is a strong defender but can also move the ball forward very well as we progress through the pitch.

“I know Jahmai is excited about this move and bringing him to the club creates even more competition which will only benefit us.

“I am sure he will settle in well with the squad as we get ready for the matches we have coming up at home and abroad.”

Quite the contrast to what Rodgers said about Inamura. I reckon we'll see him feature soon.

Hope he is not too much of a Pusey for the Scottish league!

That’s what caused the delay with the announcement - we had to let Rodgers have a couple of days to watch a few videos and pretend he knew about this one getting done :fear:

Ideal, think he'll fit in perfectly. Pretty happy with our CH options if we can keep them all fit and hungry.

Praise the * lord. Maybe our next signing will only need to wait 3 days after their medical until they sign.

I actually think he’ll be a good fit for us.

I feel sorry for signings like this as a lot of supporters take their frustration out on his announcement on social media etc.

It’s not his fault that the club are incapable of strengthening the rest of the team, or even replacing players they’ve sold for that matter.

See this is what im talking about Celtic... let the media and fans make up stuff because there is no leaks in house and then quietly and swiftly get this type of deal through the door.

No one saw this coming, reminds me of swift overnight triple signing of the Japanese lads way back when.
