Let's be honest its too late for this qualifer. Its unrealistic that we sign someone this week let alone have them train and ready to make an impact in the game. Its not a realistic expectation and clearly preparing for this tie has not been a priority for us this summer. That in itself is a disgrace.

Given the draw, the risk of signing the required players and not qualifying is minimal.

The risk of not signing players is just slightly higher.

    So just * do it

The problem is we can only speculate, we could be trying to sign someone who has options and it could be taking longer. They could just have signed the next Sam Lammers. Time will tell. I would rather get the right player in at the end of the window than a * player in now.

We needed players in before now. There is no "right" player thats only going to be available to us at the end of the window. We should have had a list of targets and be capable of securing some of them. This window is shaping up to be a disaster. At least Rangers seem to be capable of identifying targets and getting deals done promptly. I have genuinely no idea what the * we're doing this window and we're certainly not in a position to be laughing at them. I'd have taken Antman over Forrest and Yang yesterday.

I don't really buy that excuse now mate tbh. In the past, aye.

But I'm done with them now. Particularly after Rodgers coming out the other day.

There's absolutely no excuse for at the least having a replacement in for Kuhn. He shouldn't have been allowed to leave until we were about 95% sure of hos replacement coming in. Just sheer incompetence.

Antman is a good signing on paper who I'd have been happy with for is. Top assist maker in Holland last year. Could be *, aye, but on paper it's a good target who they were linked with about 6 days ago and who is now their player.

I'm frustrated at the speed of our signings as well and i don't think it's good enough but I don't have any insight into what's going on behind the scenes. I've genuinely never seen Antman play to have an opinion if he's better than Yang or Forrest. Is he that good?

What if our targets team won't let them go until they are 95% sure their replacement is coming in?

Its gone * up behind the scene.

Even our board, I do not believe, would have sold Kuhn for 16M and thought having only Maeda, Yang and Forest available for the forseeable was a legitimate option. And no plans to replace them. People will say aye but do you know how our board work - but theres just no way I believe that.

I think there were options presented to Rodgers that he just wasnt happy with and hes sticking to his guns that they need to either go out and get a player or two that he wants (probably cost a lot more) or else go find better quality options.

For example that guy Bruem. If Rodgers was keen on him and pushed for him I think we would have paid their price or at least closer to it. It feels like the recruitment team liked him but Rodgers didnt. So they were caught between wanting to bring him to to the club for "assessment" but not wanting to pay 4M or 5M for a player that Rodgers didnt fancy and may keep on the bench all season.

The references made by Rodgers to needing quality and ambition - that feels like hes saying the recruitment options hes been given arent good enough to get the team to the next level.

Hes potentially in his last season here. He says nothings been decided but we dont really know. He may feel hes likely to finish up at the end of the season and doesnt want a bunch of development signings that hes not going to see any return on. He wants guys in that can make an impact now.

It seems to have became a bit of scrap now.

Antman certainly looked one of the best wingers in the Eredivise and fits the profile of wingers we should be looking at. We certainly bid for his teammate Breum who by all accounts looks the lesser of the 2 players. Not a case of being "that good" Yang is terribly inconsistent and was a waste of a jersey yesterday and Forrest is winding down and is now a bit part player. Our bar for right wingers isn't exactly very high.

The qualifier is huge but leaving deals until after that game then means that any new signings are highly unlikely to play at the * pit on the 31st.

Given that they likely will be stronger, the title could come down to the 4 games v them so going into 1 of them unprepared and with that coward Yang and that * lump Idah in the starting lineup essentially rights 1 of the 4 games off

We will only know how high our bar is once the window shuts. I'm of the belief we looked at Breum as an attacking mid early June prior to signing Nygren. There's been plenty players who have done well in the Eredivisie that have turned out to be *... Ciftci , Lammers, Propper

I do think there is some truth in this and that it's happened previously.

See if that is the case and Rodgers is refusing to cooperate with the recruitment policy and is letting his ego and arrogance hold us back then the board should be stepping in and removing him.

Hes away at the end of the season anyway so why should the club stand still for a year

Thats a nonsense argument. We literally signed our greatest ever player one Mr Larsson from that same league, so that throws your point well and truly out the window. I'm talking about our bar now not a hypothetical bar that hinges on signings. What we have now is unacceptable.

Its not too late for the Qualifier even if they feature in the 2nd leg

You can't register new players in between legs. They'd need to be signed and in the door in the next 9 days to feature. Thats not enough time to realistically expect someone to come in to our squad and impact a high profile. Players need time to train with the team and settle, we've left it too late.

I think he is definitely playing hardball behind the scenes to push for the transfers he wants. Which I suspect are expensive and fall outside the boards favoured model.

Hes been clever with how hes used the media as well to crank up pressure on the board and then step back from it again. He knows the fanbase is going to back him when it comes to that so if it does turn ugly he can step away in 9months time and the fans wrath will be directed at the board.

The manager seems exasperated from his words, tone and body language in his interviews. I think the board are playing a blinder here, because they know that he referenced getting players to take the team to the next level following the Bayern game and I don't think they like the idea of the manager dictating their transfer dealings one bit.

I reckon they are stockpiling the cash and keeping it for whoever the next manager they fancy will be, so that they will have an easier job trying to take the club forward.

Brendan's job was to come in and keep the ship stable following Ange's departure, but given his greater ambitions for our progress in Europe he feels stifled. Call me Dr. Doom, but I feel that this will be his final season regardless of the outcome domestically and on the European stage.
