What do you mean he wasn't bought to be our main striker?

He was behind Kyogo who was our primary forward .

Not been said much and I was hammering them during the game for the performance….but credit to the Bhoys for digging it out when the pressure was on big time there

You are right, Idah has made a massive contribution to the club already since signed, and he has undoubtedly paid off his £9M fee already. He gets a hard rap from the Celtic fans, who I suspect compare him unfavourably with previous fan's favourite GG.

I don't think it is a confidence issue with Idah, he has all the confidence in the world as far as I can see. It's more the weight of expectation on his shoulders. That shot of his that cannoned off the upright, would have gone in more often than not.

The real problem is the lack lustre midfield and lack of penetrating wingers, which makes the job of big strikers like Adam Idah even harder, having to track back and forage for scraps, because of the mean supply from the midfield and wings. Sort that out this transfer window and Idah will be flying again.

I felt that was an unconfident finish, he could have went across the keeper with a bit more composure which would have likely led to a certain goal but he just smashed it as hard as he possibly could. I feel that if he had scored a few goals and had more confidence he scores that chance and goes across the goalkeeper. I absolutely agree regarding the job being made more challenging due to our wingers.

When we're spending that much he should be able to start..

He looks nowhere near it.. miles off being a Celtic no9.. touch is horrendous

We did have some nice flashes, when our midfield looked like it was pinging passes and attacking with energy.

But between Hatate and McGregor doing that, hardly anyone else was doing much else so it largely broke down when we got into the box

The good work he has done was on loan, since his permanent deal, he absolutely hasn't justified his £9m transfer..

Trying to justify the fee because he helped win the league before the permanent transfer, is just folk trying to make an argument that isn't there ..

He's constantly on his heels, poor touch, poor finishing and shoukd be much more physically imposing.

I hope he starts to prove us wrong but can't see it, looks like we've spent fortunes on a dud.

He may not have justified £9m but he did score 20 and get 3 CL goals. He isn't the failure people make him out to be. He definitely contributed to last seasons trophies. I'm sure we could have gotten better for less, but you could say that about most signings for over £5m.

Think he's just one of those players people want to dislike. They've chosen to hate him and go out of their way to ignore anything positive. Bit like Taylor I suppose.

    True.
Some of them hate Scales. And now Scales is man of the match.
Football fans, who would have them. :giggle1:

I honestly think I like to give players a fair crack at it, genuinely try and see the positives.

He was good v Villa but are we giving him the YB deflection aye? :56:

The price we paid is definitely an issue and you wonder if it's part of the reason Rodgers hasn't had the backing this season yet.. jury out on Engels, Trusty and Idah.. £26m

I do agree as support we love a bandwagon, but that's part of the pressure in playing for us, especially as an no9.. but aye maybe a like more patience is required.

We had to run Maeda into the ground through the middle because Idah was pish 2nd half of the season.. there are other factors, Kuhn chucked it and we didn't replace Kyogo..

I was hoping Idah would come back bang at it, but for me he still looked more determined when he was on loan and that's a mentality issue.

Hopefully he gets up an running v Aberdeen but thought his whole game was very poor yesterday..
