Was excellent first half, but tailed off badly 2nd half.
Great touch, good passer, positive, plays with head up. Unlike many in our midfield.

Hopefully when fitness improves, he'll improve further.
Really excited about how good he could become.

Just didn't do much. Expected quite a bit more given his performances in preseason.

He'll get better the more he plays in the team. Him and the others weren't on the same wavelength at times.

Can see a bit of Aaron Mooy about him, but not clever enough in his movement and positioning to be as effective as him. Hopefully he'll come on with gametime

He's going to smash it here. O'Riley wasn't a £20m player after one game.

I wasn't blown away but so early. Im interested to know what role he had as a RW at his old club, must have been more of a number 10 role.

Watched the game again, the most obvious thing from him was when he gasses he majorly gasses. He went from the same to gubbed instantly.

He played ok, but enough for me to be really excited with amongst that.

Because you could see that he’s not got that natural understanding of guys around him yet that comes with games together. So it was slightly disjointed, ball not perfect, we bit of understanding not there yet.

But when that does come, * me it’s going to be devastating

It was more a number 10 role. They played with very narrow wingers.

Very similar system to what Amorim plays at United. Kinda 3-4-2-1 system.

Looking at his style BR viewing him solely in the middle isn’t surprising, he’s very like Calmac was when he took over. Who was always a CM through the ranks and on loan, but we viewed as a winger.

BR had one look and wanted him as a ball player in the middle. Closest to the wing he had him was as a LAM but was central still. Nygren think he will view much the same

Decent enough debut. Have to give him some leeway, he’s joined a team with absolutely zero flair

Thought he was decent enough, tends to float over to the right hand side so it’s likely that Yang didn’t really help in terms of him being able to create anything.

I wasn’t even on the pitch and I started zoning out whenever Yang picked the ball up, shuffled his feet a few times before cutting inside and passing backwards … can only imagine what that would do to a man being mere feet away from it.

I thought there were a number of occasions where he picked the ball up on the right side of our midfield and drove forward only to look up for a pass and have nothing on so have to turn back. It can’t be easy trying to be a creative midfielder with Maeda, Idah and Yang in front of you.

Yang often was standing 3 yards to his right not making any run, or offer other than a short square pass.

Idah was mainly offside and Maeda is lost if he can’t run in behind or the full back has his match for pace when he’s out wide left which given St Mirren had 5 back most of the time there weren’t many opportunities other than the quick freekick and the one at the end on the counter.

He did tire badly in the second half and despite his floaty corners he put one of those right on Maeda’s head at the start of the second half, where he should have burst the net.

I actually didn’t think other than lacking a bit of sharpness and understanding many of the keeper, back four, and midfield three were poor at the weekend. Don’t get me wrong they weren’t exceptional either but the front 3 were rotten.

Maeda’s constant movement is a joy for midfielders, Cal finds him consistently and early game after game. The rest I agree with you on, Yang in particular is a * take in terms of drop off in quality from the rest of the team.

No worries about him at all, was an off day in general for us outside our defence.

Despite the window itself being * so far, he'll 100% be seen as one of.our best value signings in the future. Boy definitely has talent.

The point I was making on Maeda was there wasn’t any room in behind there defence the only time Maeda got in with his movement was when they were sleeping at a freekick until they were chasing the game at the end once we scored.

From open play Tierney tried a number of times to find Maeda but he got matched by their right back who was very quick.

I don't think he will play at Pittodrie. I think Engels will be back in.
