Regardless of the criticism the fans give him, he has always been statistically one of our best defenders. The dogs bark but the caravan keeps on rolling.

Surely he got MOTM? Defended brilliantly I thought, just being ponderous on the ball and a lot of his passes are either behind or right to the player, never with pace for them to run on to are the issue with him for me.(He's not the only one guilty of it btw) Fries my brain and feel it really hampers us building attacks.

Perfect opposition for him big and physical rather than clever and tricky.. but handled it very well

Thought he was our best player. Trusty done well when he come on too. Scales struggled going forward when at left back, but can’t criticise him there as that’s not his bag at all. Defensively he was solid.

Shouldn’t have been put in that situation where he was shunted to left back. Inamura should have been KT’s replacement. Ridiculous Rodgers didn’t even name him on the bench

Im not a fan but i’m seeing people on social media criticising him. He was very very good today at centre half. If he was a new 7m signing you’d be thinking we’ve signed a proper player

I found it strange he wasn’t in the bench too. Having a look at the bench, who would you have him on the bench for though?

Trusty was good and aggressive when he came on as well. The defenders were our best players. CCV good in the air too.

    Easy. Ralston.

I heard Rodgers comments about the size of the st mirren squad and coping with that. Does he think we only play with the ball in the air? Inamura has been class on the ball. He knew KT would probably have to come off at some point and although scales was class at CB he shouldn’t have had to move out to LB where he doesn’t have the attacking ability. Lost the ball a few times trying to squeeze a pass or take his man on.

not scales fault, but should have been Inamura with that responsibility

I think he usually does well against clever and tricky, you don't get a couple of MOTM awards in the CL if you can't handle clever and tricky; it's fast and pacy when playing a high line he just can't handle.

When they are all fit (which can be an issue with CCV and especially KT), I genuinely think we have a right good CL quality defence there. Possibly the best defence we've had since the MON days (the only other defence that could be in the running is that point under Ronny when IIRC we had Lustig, Virgil, Denayer and Izzy).

That kinda surprised me he struggled there, but think a big part was we expected him to do what KT’s role was.

If he needs to go there, he should play similar to Mulgrew there, hang further back, deeper crosses if he is crossing, just far up enough to make sure he needs a guy watching him so it allows Maeda one less guy on him.

And allow Maeda room on that wing and look for the ball in behind with him having the space to start that run further back.

KT and Maeda are getting used to each other but were getting in each others way a bit, they attack the same channels. That will come though, both still dangerous and no criticism there but we need to change things slightly for different players in positions

If Maeda is your winger, you don’t really want the full back bombing on, just give him early ball and have him one v one. I honestly think we need two wingers and have Maeda through the middle.
