He’s not as useless as some make out but he’s definitely not the level of striker that should be starting for us week in, week out.

    Two options

Sign a CF and a Winger
    Or
Sign two Wingers and play Maeda CF

I genuinely don't know what the folk who say 'give him time' are expecting. It's clear as day now what type of striker he is, and he's a confidence player who will have great moments but also look like a Sunday League player for spells. Unfortunately that type of striker just can't thrive at Celtic. You need a strong mentality, because things won't always go your way. How people expect that to just suddenly change with Idah is beyond me. He works as a sub option with less pressure, or maybe would be a decent no.9 at a smaller club.

I think he enjoys being a no: 2. Don't think he copes with the spotlight of being the main man. His body language/demeanour gives me that impression. I think he performs better off the bench with the occasional start knowing he isn't the main focus.

By the locks of it he’s starting regardless due to us not having real quality to replace him.

Facts are most centre forwards are confidence players and when it’s not going their way it’s hard to get out of that rut.

He'd be 3rd or 2nd choice at best for most celtic sides over the past 15 years. Probably 3rd choice more often than not.

Just find it a bit underwhelming him being our no1. I don't think he's good enough.

Folk moaned about Griffiths being no1 and he's streets ahead. I'd have prime Stokes over him too.

You can certainly describe his play as "No.2"

I want him to surprise us all but feels more and more unlikely. Sometimes Rodgers, and his coaching ego, thinks he can make any player go up levels. This feels a step too far.

    Aye.

Couldn’t stand Griffiths but he’s another level above Idah.

He’s the worst first choice striker we’ve had in a long, long time.

If we had a couple of decent new wingers, Maeda would be #1

We were talking about that today, Griffiths was way way ahead of him as a striker.

Cannot express how much I agree.

Even now you'd have Maeda ahead of him, it's just we have no one on the * wings!

That's him second choice (potentially third choice if Yamada hits the ground running) at the club currently.

Hes had chance after chance to nail down his position. He's had more chances than most and he's failed every time.

I'd sell him in a heartbeat tbh. Even for a third of what we bought him for. We don't have space for players like Idah.

A lot of the complaints about him is why people had issues with his transfer fee.

That being said, he'll still score goals which is his primary job but all we wanted was a little bit more for the money spent.

the complaints about him are down to the fee and the fee alone. Say we paid… £3.5m? They wouldn’t be there.

He’s not going to live up to the fee, and I’n fine with that he’s here and I’ll not judge him for what we paid out for him but as the player he is. He can be frustrating, and his finishing needs to be more consistent he scores in batches, thinks about the ones he’s missed and doesn’t have that when he’s scored one, then for a while more follow until a bad miss.

That’s * he needs to sort. But the way people go on about him… that’s the fee, we go overboard as if he’s useless he’s far from it. When he’s on form playing well, it’s not enough at that point because as a £9.5m striker that’s the lowest expectation and the critical opinions of him spiral further.

Unfortunately for us, he’s the type of player that is the worst sort for it to happen to, thrives on confidence and gets in his head. Groans from the stand and the chat around him will get to him in that case. He desperately needed to bury that one that hit the post.

People need to let up a bit, yes, I also want a better first choice striker, I think Maeda would be clear cut for that if not for Jota’s injury already. The fee is a noose for him, in his time here he came in on loan was massive for winning the league scored in derbies, a winning cup final goal, his first full season as a signing scored 20 goals and 3 in the Champions League and is deemed useless. I don’t think I can think of another striker for us that has had that

Griffiths as a comparison is a funny one. I’d trust Idah far, far more than Griffiths. The Griffiths who scored 40 a season and the year after under Rodgers? Nah not that one but if I had to place trust in one to rely on, then it’s Idah hands down.

The worst first choice I’d probably say is accurate, Kyogo, Eddy, Dembele taking up the last decade or so our first choices it’s clear cut infact. I don’t blame Idah for being that just now though, us not having a first choice of that quality the blame lies elsewhere

If those chances that Idah had against Motherwell fell to Kyogo, we'd have won that game by at least three goals.

We still haven't replaced Kyogo after him leaving 7 months ago.

If you are talking Griffiths on form then I honestly dunno how you could trust him to finish less than Idah.

    Griffiths could score from anywhere.

Even if we'd paid £3-4m I'd be disappointed with what I'm seeing from Idah. The fee doesn't come into it, for me anyway. I just have really ran out of patience with him. He's coming across lazy and is far too inconsistent.
