Very similar to my read on them. They have placed a limit on what they’re willing to push us to, and won’t go by that

The problem is that our board would have taken one look at the huns result and performance yesterday and think, "We don't need to do much here."

The lack of domestic competition has probably made them way too comfortable int heir ways and resistant to change.

Im sure their argument would be a record haul of domestic silverware, a profitable club, a successful player trading model and a very healthy balance sheet as evidence of their success. Achieving this kind of financial position from a small country like Scotland with extremely low domestic revenue streams is probably a source of pride for them and in their minds a validation of competence.

This doesnt tell the whole story though, as Rangers being turfed out of the league and having to start over has provided the board with cover for easy silverware and entry to Europe on the back of it (which is really the source of the reserves we have)

The old Champion League format probably created a legitimate ceiling that the board werent prepared to try to push through. Europe was treated as a source of financial stability rather than an arena to succeed in.

The new format though when considered with the money we have in reserve, the platform we created last year, the increaded games, the more favourable format etc makes it hard beleive they would not see this a serious opportunity to pursue.

A baw hair ahead of the Huns.

Taking the league we play in here into consideration you could say that if we functioned to the best of our ability it would devalue it and wouldn’t be competitive.

Great for us fans winning the SPL every season
But is that healthy for the SPL ?

    definitely out grown this league.

    Don't tease me like that.

I wish he was intending to sell but I don't think he is. I think this is like a part-time retirement gig for him. Give all his mates and their kids jobs, send an email to Lawwell and Brendan denying about a hundred requests, then back on the course for another 9 holes. I should add also he has a son who presumably wouldn't mind inheriting a football club.

c'mon now get it right rangers were not turfed out of the league ,rangers are dead and buried and a brand new club got to pretend to be rangers and allowed to leapfrog other clubs into the 3rd division

    Which would be ludicrous.

I mind after our start to the season under Ange * had us finishing 6th.

Not saying Martin will be Ange-like, but there's 37 games left. And we have Yang and Tilio.

And they still have a month of the window left to get him the players they now realise he needs.

My immediate response to the rangers score yesterday was to crack a smile and enjoy the fallout. But almost immediately my next thought was that it will impact Celtic is a negative way for the very reason you say.

Sadly, when your model is only based on being better than one other club, we arent going to see progress until they improve. Which is very depressing but I think thats the case.
