Day 120 without a winger transfer rumour..

Blochairnbhoy has gone quiet. The forum members fear this window may finally have tipped him over the edge. Either that or the 2 for 1s in the Loch Ness Bar in Benidorm have quelled his thirst for board member blood.

LectersLuncheons delirious ramblings have finally landed him his dream job as a columnist for the daily record.

RandomReview remains adamant that Jo Inge Berget still plays for Malmo.

Amongst the chaos, DoubleDutch triumphantly waves his Yang first goalscorer betting slip in the air and calls for calm.

Do you find the fact that we are the only club in world football who hoard cash and not invest in our football team as acceptable?

Do you find our performances in European football over the past 15 years as acceptable?

Your issue seems to be that you can't hack the moaning while not appreciating what people are moaning about. Best to sit this one out I think.

Get two good wide players in the door and I think the complexion of the transfer window will change substantially. It may not be perfect but if we get two good wingers in on top of who we have got so far then we wont be in too bad nick.

Will need to get a LB too but our priority now should be first team ready wingers.

Lots of opinions on transfer so used Google AI to assess the situation....

Celtic fans' frustration mounts amidst transfer window activity
Celtic fans have expressed growing frustration with the club's transfer business during the current summer window. Concerns center around the perceived lack of significant incomings compared to notable departures, particularly in attacking positions.
    Key points of concern:

    • Player Departures: The sale of striker Kyogo Furuhashi and winger Nicolas Kuhn, along with Jota's long-term injury, has left a void in the squad's attacking options.
    • Slow Recruitment: Despite Rodgers' calls for reinforcements, the pace of new arrivals has been slower than many fans would like, raising questions about the club's ambition.
    • Rejection of Bids: Celtic have reportedly had bids rejected for key targets like Jakob Breum, further fueling anxiety among supporters.
    • Reliance on Loans/Academy Players: While some positive signings like Kieran Tierney and Benjamin Nygren have been made, there's concern about a perceived over-reliance on loan deals and academy players for immediate impact, according to Celts Are Here.
    Manager's Perspective:
Brendan Rodgers acknowledges the need for additions, emphasizing that it's a matter of "arithmetic" and replacing players with quality. He remains hopeful that new signings will be secured before the window closes but highlights the disconnect in pace between coaches and the transfer market. Rodgers stresses the importance of players who can deliver immediate results alongside developing talent.
    Fan reaction and sentiment:
Fan forums and social media are abuzz with discussions about the transfer situation, with many fans voicing dissatisfaction with the board's perceived inaction. Some fear that the club's approach could jeopardize their domestic dominance and Champions League aspirations. However, some maintain optimism, believing the club will ultimately bring in the necessary quality.
    Potential Impact:
A crucial Champions League play-off awaits Celtic in late August, and the outcome of the transfer window is seen as vital for the team's competitiveness on both the domestic and European fronts. The looming deadline in the transfer window adds urgency to the situation, and fans are eagerly awaiting confirmation of significant incoming players.

I know it sounds so simple and with celtic it is clear we don't do simple.

    But still.

It just feels like we are two, relative statement signings at RW and CB from really changing fans perception over the window but the longer we take to make them, the lesser the shine will be on those transfers.

If we wait for after cl has been decided then we could sign VVD, Haaland, Vini Jr, Henrik Larsson magical regen and the fans will moan about how the * have we risked leaving it so late.

Whereas if we can get them done before any deadlines for squads, the fanbase will be buzzing for the season and spend hand over fist with excitement

I honestly don't expect anymore defensive signings unless we sell CCV. CCV is an outstanding defender and Trusty is a pretty good one. Scales is decent backup and this loan from Man City should presumably also be decent (at worst). We have excellent first-choice FBs and OK backup FBs.

I think the defence is the one area I'm not worried about.

That’s like panicking on January 1st. There’s a whole month to go… plenty of time.

It’s not like the season starts this weekend or we’ve got a trip to Pittodrie or Ibrox coming up, or a Champions League qualifier. Plenty of time.

    Plenty.

People talking about panic? See if Maeda was to pick-up a long-term injury on Sunday.....panic wouldn't even begin to cover it.

If Maeda was to get injured against St Mirren, what would the plan be?

We would collectively all * our pants because we have no out and out left winger left at the club with a European play off and a tricky run of games coming up … the discontent is pretty justified in my opinion.
