People question his transfer record ... we have no scouting department (!) ... and rank * negotiatiors * Nosferatu and his mate ... BR didn't overpay for Engels, Idah, Trusty ... the club did ... after failing to provide any better options

His track record of spending money at every club is pretty bad.

Whys he not working on new formations and tactics either is that the boards fault?

Teams already know how to beat us.

Brendan Rodgers has given an update on his side's transfer dealings this summer, ahead of the start of the league season this weekend against St Mirren.

The Celtic manager, who is entering his sixth season in charge of the club, has made six signings so far, including the return of Kieran Tierney from Arsenal.

He has been joined by fellow summer arrivals Ross Doohan, Benjamin Nygren, Callum Osmand, Hayato Inamura and Shin Yamada.

In a new interview, however, Rodgers has stated that he hopes to have more additions coming into the club imminently. "We hope this week that there will be some news on that (new arrivals)," he said. [Sky Sports]

However, I think that coaches and the transfer market don’t move at the same pace. A coach always wants a player in immediately, but the market doesn’t always work like that. There is a lot that goes into it.

"This is the reason for pre-season. You want the team together as quickly as you can, so you can get good work in and the spirit formed.

"We know that traditionally it can be a challenge."

Rodgers continued: "A coach will always want the players in. I think it’s arithmetic. It is purely counting, because we’ve lost players, and we want to replace those players with quality. It’s not an opinion, it’s where it’s at.

"I’m very hopeful that we can do that. For me, the focus is very much on who is here. We know we have work to do.

"I am hopeful that we can get that done by the end of the window.

Said expects new signings within the week

I read into that that any big improvement signings we have stopped any chance of it getting out and fed the media the low key signings … as theirs been hardly any info released if theirs new signings coming in a week

Is it? Have you done an extensive research on that? The only clubs he's been at for any substantial amount of time have been Swansea, Liverpool, Leicester and us.

He hasn't got any money to spend here, this will be a 5th straight transfer window of net profit since he came back. Our board consistently fail to land top targets, consistently walk away from players who we have bids rejected for. The only other clubs. Our manager consistently is in the press voicing his frustration at the club for not getting the players in, he's consistently asking for quality. He spent the last window in press conferences saying he expected a striker and the board let him down.....yet you think Rodgers is the issue. Funny enough it was Rodgers who thought Lawwell was the issue in us failing to land a £30m rated EPL midfielder mainstay for £3m in his first spell in charge.

Coincidently, the best transfer window we've had in recent memory for pure qaulity was when we had a newbie rugby ceo who soon got chased out the building.

Yup. I think we also got lucky though. Ange knew Kyogo and Hatate and Maeda. CCV tbf seemed to be a target but we had to wait until deadline day to get him in. Jota was just a major stroke of luck. He was on the scrapheap at Benfica and was offered to us on loan with an option to buy.

Starfelt and Abada were so/so for me. Did a job but always felt they were very dispensable. GG and JJ were a couple of very shrewd buys. MOR was a steal but he would never have came here only for McGree chose Boro over us.

Every name there was utter quality. It'll be years until we have that good a hit rate again. Crazy.

It was our best window in years certainly. I personally wouldn't label Starfelt and Abada as quality. I think they were serviceable players we certainly should have upgraded on if our board had any ambition but sadly we just seemed to be happy to take 1 step forward then 2 back.

Ange had the inside track on the Japanese lads and we got very lucky on Jota and MOR so they were not really part of anything we were doing very structurally well in those windows.

GG, CCV and JJ were the ones that the board can be given credit for in that window.

Nope, the board still had to go out and sign them. Doesn't matter of ange knew etc.. even today the board can't go out and sign who we know and want. So in that sense it must have been the new at the time CEO. So the common denominator here must be lawell. His penny pinching embarrassing tactics to try sign anyone always back fire.

He does seem to take very little to do with transfers, his thinking is probably wether the squad is strong or not he just tries to get the best out it and it's not up to him.

Where as other managers seem more pro-active at demanding the squad is improved quickly and more involved.

Any time he's ever asked about transfers or that he's always like "oh who knows im sure something will happen at some point".

The beginning of the 2025/26 campaign is almost upon us, with Brendan Rodgers and his squad gearing up for their opening league match.

Welcoming St Mirren to Paradise, this Sunday will mark the start of another new season and bring to an end what has been another busy pre-season.

Alongside the work done in Scotland at Lennoxtown, with trips to Ireland, Portugal and Italy, it has been a pre-season filled with plenty of hard work on the pitch for the Hoops.

That work will be put into action as the league flag is unveiled, with the Celts kick-starting what they hope will be another successful season as we begin the defence of our title.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Celtic TV, Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers reflected on pre-season, praising the hard work his squad put in during training and in their friendly outings.

Now though, Rodgers is very much looking forward to getting going on the competitive front.

He said: “We’re very much looking forward to the competitive season getting underway. We’ve obviously had very good preparation both here at Lennoxtown and on our travels.

“We played some great games, and the players are in a really good place. They have worked every so hard, and we have played some high-quality opponents.

‘But now it’s all for a purpose and a reason looking ahead to the weekend.’

“I think that all of our games in pre-season were really, really good for us. My only disappointment if I was being critical was the second half against Ajax.

“But apart from that, I thought we were very good in the games. We built our fitness up from that first evening at Queen's Park.

“We worked our way through it, and we have finished in a really good place.

“There has been a lot of planning and preparation that went into it, but it was a really enjoyable pre-season.

“There has been a lot of hard work. We got some of our ideas across in training and now we can’t wait to get started for the competitive stuff.”

Of course, it will be familiar foes to kick-off the new season for the Celts, with St Mirren the visitors to the East End of Glasgow on Sunday.

Especially when you consider that the final competitive outing at Paradise of last season came against the Buddies in a 1-1 draw.

Following another strong season, Stephen Robinson leads his side into the new season after booking their place in the next round of the Premier Sports Cup in July.

Robinson is a manager Rodgers has faced on a fair few occasions now, and the Celtic boss praised his fellow countryman as he gears up for what will be a tough opening test.

It is one which Rodgers believes will set Celtic in good stead as they look to quickly get up to full speed in competitive action.

“It will be difficult,” he said. “Like we seen on the last game of the season, St Mirren make it really tough and difficult.

“I have a big admiration for Stephen (Robinson). He has done a great job in the club’s he has managed up here, both Motherwell and St Mirren.

“To qualify for Europe in the last three seasons, it’s a great effort by him, his staff and his players.

“His teams are always well organised. But for us, this is our first game at home, and we really want to lay a marker down in terms of how we want to perform this season.

‘This is a great way for us to hopefully start with.’

“I think that’s it; it’s competition. Competition brings that intensity, both from the players and from the supporters.

“The season starts on Sunday, and we are really looking forward to it. We want to put on a performance, get the points and move on to the next game.”

    Usual fluff.

No mention of transfers during the club interviews, anyway!

I'm shocked he's not making a bigger deal or forcing the boards hand with deals.

If we * up this season its his stock that will drop massively. Lower his chances of another good job elsewhere.

That's why if it keeps going how it is then I wouldn't be shocked (or blame him) if he walked.

I'm not blaming him for this shambolic window amd since the board are hiding, the only person that can be asked is Brendan. But some serious ponted questions need to be asked.

No the usual soft ball *, were the answers is working hard etc etc.

To be fair he’s been asked a couple of times in Celtic tv interviews about transfers

Work going on behind the scenes was his answer

Quite liking this Google AI thingy - there's nothing we don't already know but quite concisely put
Is Brendan Rogers happy at Celtic?

Publicly, Brendan Rodgers has stated he is very happy at Celtic, even going as far as saying he's "happier than he's ever been" after securing the league title in April 2025. He's reiterated his commitment to seeing out his current contract, which runs until the summer of 2026. In a Facebook video posted on April 26, 2025, Rodgers emphatically stated he would be at Celtic in 2026, saying "200%". The Celtic players also seem to be happy with Rodgers as manager and hope he extends his stay, according to James Forrest in July 2025.
However, some reports suggest there might be underlying issues.

    • Transfer Demands: Rodgers is reportedly demanding significant backing in the upcoming transfer window to strengthen the squad, particularly in the Champions League, according to Football Insider. There are concerns that if the board fails to meet these demands, his position could change.
    • Contract Uncertainty: While Rodgers has stated his happiness, he has also acknowledged that conversations about his long-term future will occur later, says Celts Are Here. The current contract expires in 2026, and a lack of immediate talks about an extension has sparked some uncertainty. Some pundits like former Celtic striker Chris Sutton believe the contract situation will remain a "big talking point" until resolved.
    • Past Departure and Trust Issues: Rodgers' previous departure from Celtic mid-season in 2019 might have created some lingering trust issues with the board and potentially a segment of the fanbase, according to The Celtic Blog.
Ultimately, while Brendan Rodgers is publicly happy and committed to Celtic in the short term, his long-term future might depend on the club's actions in the upcoming transfer windows and whether they can continue to meet his expectations for squad development and success, especially in Europe.
