The thing is we still have plenty of fans within our club who lionise Lawwell as some sort of financial genius, that he is a savvy businessman who is always 4 steps ahead.

May I remind people the first time Lawwell came to most of our attention was the absolute monstrosity of a contract he gave to Bobo Balde and then the years of mismanaging the situation he undertook after it. At the time Balde was in the final year of his contract, he had a chance to move in that January window but O'Neill wanted him to stay at all costs with the title on the line. Balde signed a 28k per week 4 year deal with a clause that he could leave for free at the end of the season should he wish to.

This contract was handed out to Balde by Lawwell, probably under the impression that Balde would go on his way at the end of the season. Instead he decided he was settled in Glasgow and was unwilling to move on unless he got a similar contract. Plenty of interest came but not at the terms and lenght of contract Balde was on, then around 30/31 years of age. The moronic Lawwell in all his wisdom decided that Balde should be frozen out of the team in order to force his move, Strachan was told not to pick him, he was told to train with the reserves as we continued with the comedy act of McManus and Caldwell. This went on for 2/3 years, an SOS was even sent for Balde during a particularly bad defensive spell and I can recall him coming in for a game against Motherwell having hardly played in a year and delivering a MOTM performance and clean sheet.

This shows the type of malevolent character Lawwell is, a guy who makes a mistake and makes the whole situation 10x worse because his ego won't allow him to admit it was a mistake and find some compromise. It shows the reach he has over footballing matters when he's barely even qualified enough to do the job he has been empowered with. His ego is outrageously out of control and I look forward to the day he has a bit of manners put on him.

We still have absolute moonhowlers like the CQN guy who is the PLCs own Goebbels who goes to great lengths to tell us Lawwell is a genius.

unlike me and most likely unlike you peter lawwell will go down in the history of Celtic we have never been as successful while improving every area of our club as we have in the last 20 under lawwell mentioning a bad wage deal is nothing compared to the 100s of good deals on and off the field that has been done

we all want more and better players we all want success but understand this isn't football manager its the real world if we haven't bought already its for a reason and trust that the reason will be in Celtics best interests

It wasn't just one, the guy is so out of his depth and his ego is so out of control. I've felt and known for a long time what an absolute charlatan Lawwell is. He is completely unfit for the position. The majority of fans seem to be in unison now about how he has ran this club with neglect. A CEO needs to have a vision and strategy and that's why the likes of Lawwell and Nicholson are not fit for the job, they don't have the competence or ability to be able to outline a vision or strategy to grow this club with vast resources accumulated from the pockets of the fans, nevermind implement it successfully. When Lawwell arrived we were ranked 22nd in Europe, today we are 59th despite the fact we play European football every season.

3 weeks time we walk into a CL qualifier with our manager increasingly frustrated at the fuckacting from Lawwell and Nicholson but you keep on kidding yourself he'd some form of genius. He's out of his depth at senior executive level, all he is is a bean counter and glorified treasurer. He has brought our club backwards over the past 20 years.

I think the problem is that there is a breakdown in trust between the fanbase and the board regarding what their interests are.

I think some of the issues the fanbase put the board on the hook for are not necessarily fair. But the board do nothing to engage with the fanbase around strategic aims and commitments.

Communicate what the strategy is, make some meaningful commitments, or its inevitable fans are going to watch the stockpiling of cash and the cautious transfer activity with scepticism and mistrust.

Out of curiosity, I went back and re-read Lawells mid year financial results statement. Full of vacuous statements, vague ambitions and lack of any tangible commitments.

This is probably the most damning thing you could say about it all. Our strategy for the past 20 years has been one of deliberate managed decline. When we get in a position to advance relative to other European clubs, we hold back. We sit on £100m - about 10x more cash than we could ever possibly need in reserve - and refuse to invest it and grow. And it is not DD's money, because it is club profit - it's the club's money. Someone above said that there's no other club in the world that acts like this and I think they're probably right. No other club not only expects to decline but simply refuses to take a step forward when the door's wide open.

It's as if they want to alienate the fans, what our club had recently turned into is unrecognisable to the club IV grew up with

And while Lawwell was managing this decline, he was engineering his own position as one of the highest paid executives in world football.

Shower of utter arseholes. This season has a bad feel to it and unless they get the wallet open then things could turn bad very quickly, both on and off the pitch. At the scunnered stage just now.

They really must be completely ignorant to public opinion if they can’t see what’s coming. Suspended ban for GB using Palestine as an excuse for it.

Then the sheer lack of ambition to progress as a club, they are headed for a complete reality check soon if August does not start well.

There’s something just not right at board level - it’s either sheer incompetence or a need to cling onto power that they would let us decline and not qualify for CL or dare I say it lose a league title. Which in the end would likely sign their own death warrant.

It’s too stale now and needs fresh impetus but there’s no way they will let go of their power easily.

Have a bad feeling about this season and our future tbh.

Only this lot could self sabotage so badly. Should be the easiest job in world football to have us winning the title and winning a play off each year with regular, sound investment. Utter shitebags.

Anyone defending them at this stage have a word.

It's the sheer and utter contempt.

If the results go sour there will be some ugly scenes at Celtic Park this season and let nobody defend the board in their part to play in all of this.

Convenient timing, in that they are trying to deflect us from commenting on their biscuit tin mentality.
