Paul Tisdale appointed Celtic’s Head of Football Operations

He's been a complete tisappointment

 

He said in a interview i listened to something like this -

"When i work on buying a player, i only go to the board when i am satisfied and convinced that the player i buy is at the correct market value, otherwise i move on to other targets"

That is insanely concerning for me.

 

No chance I would pin the blame on this guy when it's been an issue for as long as I can remember.

 

It's a fair point but this issue has existed long before Tisdale and perhaps these are the constraints this board have him work under. The whole anger and frustration that is growing and growing here is its the same * every single year so Tisdale can't possibly be the problem when it comes to this.

 

I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, but to be fair to him he won’t be in charge of budgets. He’ll make recommendations and the final say won’t sit with him, so I don’t know if it’s fair to say his vision is centered around penny pinching.

 

Our recruitment structure is one man with a phone talking to agents pure * hour within the club

 

Insanely concerning, really? Seems a pretty straight forward statement to me, it's his job to weigh up if a target is value for money within the set budget and worth the time pursuing, or should move on to other targets. Someone has to make the same call at literally every football club.

 

I don't blame him if hands tied by others, but it would be nice to actually hear from him.
I'd like him to outline the strategy and give at least a couple of updates through the transfer window as opposed to asking Brendan every day - who apparently knows as much as we do.

 

I don't even need evidence to firmly believe this, as it would be an ideal appointment by the board to hire someone who also has a fiscal hard-on for not spending money.

Judging from what is being said about how he operates i think we would need transparency from the club on who's submitting bids then.
As it would seem like he only goes to the board to sign off on a deal once the deal has basically been struck - suggesting he is capable of making the offers.

Which, as you says the names linked maybe aren't op bad actually, but the stories we are hearing about how we are bidding and the values we are submitting is potentially on him. Although that's not a new thing hence it's likely a perfect appointment from the board for their own reasoning.

Yeah someone should be able to at least tell how many players we are really looking to sign this window.

there has to be some sort of fan liaison it's poor treatment of the fans that support the club.

If anything he seems to be identifying good players, seemingly..

Our inability to get them over the line has been the torturous issue

 

The guy refers to himself as a 'football doctor'. What did you expect.

 

Look at the Breum embarrasment and you can tie that together with that quote. Tisdales value of the player could be ridiculously low so he dont even take it to the board.

His history speak for itself.

That’s all conjecture though.

 

But this has been happening for years before Tisdale arrived. It's never not been happening as long as Lawwell or Nicholson have been at the helm.

 

You're acting like there's been some dramatic shift in how we do business here low-balling bids, buying low to develop and sell for profit has been our model for a long time, Tisdale has been here less than a year. He might well have been brought in because he has a reputation of going after cheap data driven signings, but even if that's true he's been brought in to do transfers within set parameters by the board, he doesn't set the budget himself.

As others have pointed out, going by the few links the media are getting wind of it's not like we're identifying * players, and the players we have signed (though it's still early) look a good fit for how we play, really not sure why you've woke up today and decided Tisdale individually needs to come under fire, has he done something wrong here you're aware of that the rest of us aren't?

 

No i have not said rhat the ppl before him was any better and im probably one of the boards biggest critics on here.

If any of you defending this clown go and take time to watch his interviews at his time at Exeter for example, you will know what i am talking about.

The board is always the main problem. This guy is just hired by them as a expert at finding the cheapest possible target.
