trying to make sense of this madness but if this guy is coming in as a lw ,he will be playing second fiddle to maeda and when jota returns 3 fighting for 1 spot is possibly why they are reluctant to throw so much at him . id imagine (hoping) the big spends will be on the other wing or up front where there is a desperate need for quality

 

Most clubs have a model for valuing players, using analytics and benchmarking - I'd be amazed if we had anything moderately sophisticated. Why do our valuations always seem so low? Pistol Pete is definitely tweaking the model when nobody is looking. Set to 2005 rather than 2025.

Clubs like Liverpool do deals 10x our value in a fraction of the time because they have a modern sporting structure. Honestly it's infuriating there is no serious mechanism that supporters can use to communicate our expectations. It's depressing it probably has to get worse before it gets better.

 

I heared on a Celtic podcast that Celtic spent more money in 1991 without even considering the inflation. That is * crazy.

Don't be silly we'd never get that close to the club's valuation of him. We'll continue to monitor until January then watch him move to another club for 500K more than we wanted to pay.

Genuinely dont think there's anything in this at all. We made a couple of bids about 6 weeks ago the fact it's only came out in the last week is why it's been given airtime in the media.

 

Which is a concern if you think about it, we seem to be lowballing a few clubs for players on the off chance they’ll accept it … doesn’t exactly scream concise squad management.


This windows definitely having the scatter gun Mark Lawwell approach we had 2 seasons ago.

 

Is there any links that show that our bid / bids wasn't before we bought Nygren. I feel like this guy has similar attributes and would have shown up in a lot of the same scouting analytics. I feel like the press missed the bid / bids at the time and are talking about it like it's current as they've got no inkling as to who we are actually interested in / bidding on. Could be his agent / club trying to force someone that is interested to bid at £5M by giving the impression Celtic are still willing to bid as they lose him for cheap next summer.
