Mate, I’ll say it again, I’m not all that arsed about his level. If he signs and he’s class, then brilliant.

But we should not be relying on a loan signing in our position. Not unless it’s an outstanding, proven player - like the days of Bellamy and Keane.

Every chance he’s great. But there’s also a pretty decent chance he needs a period of time to adjust to men’s football and the rough and tumble of Scottish football.

Go out on the continent and find a relatively experienced CB who is affordable and better than Trusty. It’s not too much to ask for.

Looks good, happy to see him here. No buy option is poor but makes me think Man City feel there’s a real player there. But this is only a good loan if we do the business on the wings and but quality where we desperately need it. So in isolation it’s decent, as part of our overall strategy, still miles aff it

But if this guy is really good which he could be the chances of signing better are slim.

I prefer to be watching quality and entertainment regardless of wether we've signed them permentantly or not.

I must admit I am feeling rather underwhelmed, sound like a cheap option but as our recent record of signing 4-5 million dud centre backs then it may be a wise option going down the loan route? The transfer policy defies any logic.

You do realise our best CB currently at the club came to us on loan?

Jota was the other loan that season and had we not loaned them I don’t believe we’d have won the league.

If a loan player improves the team I’ll take it as long as it’s max a couple a season.

And then we lose him in a year and we’re back to square one.

The chances of finding a better CB are not slim. He played a handful of senior games last season and by all accounts hardly looked ready.

Give me another Starfelt every day of the week over a 19 year old with little experience on a one year loan.

I would say even worse since likely to lose CCV as well next year.

I do. I've just given you the probability of a loan player working out for us are less than 1 in 10 and even when they do play well we won't be signing him unless we have an option, which by all indications he won't. You can count the amount of successful loans we've had on one hand. The unsuccesful ones outweight them at an alarming rate. So it's a completely pointless signing added to the fact the guy is a complete and utter rookie.

Where does it leave us next year? This is the type of policy that puts 1 step forward then 2 back. We need to either spend money or sack our entire executive board and recruitment team if they are unable to target the requisite quality and get deals done to an acceptable manner. I don't think he'll be a starter. I think he is being brought in as cover for domestic games.

It's an uninspiring signing on so many levels. Loan signings smack of the board being afraid to spend money and short termism. Unforgivable this is what we come up with for the CB spot when there's 70m+ in the bank and they've had 6 months since the window closed in February to identify a target.

I wonder what the agreement is with this loan. City might want him to play a certain amount of games otherwise what’s the point? Valle left in January as he was not getting enough game time. This deal is a sticking plaster and nothing else.

I wouldn't be too worried about CCV, he has his injury problems and I think his level has deteriorated as a result in recent years. He turns 28 in November, if we are an ambitious club, we'd actually be trying to maybe improve on him. I couldn't see too many clubs being willing to offer more than 10m for him.

Probability of a loan working out is the same as any other transfer working out. You could argue the fact city won’t give us an option for a permanent transfer is a sign, they highly rate him.

The last CB we loaned from City was Jason Denayer.

POTY in PL2 and making a few appearances for city first team indicates he could do a job for us.

Think this is a sign we're not quite giving up on last summers £6M investment

Although I hate not having an option to buy, I do have to remember how much I loved that year with Denyaer

He was playing through injuries last season and was probably at 70% best, a fully fit Cam is absolutely key for us in Europe at the back. If he has a good season he’d worth a * lot more than £10M.

Saw something saying he’d be here for the qualifiers? So he’s not coming now?

    We didn't sign Denayer,
    but it doesn't matter,
    cos we got Boyata...

(Billy Joels - We didn't start the fire)

That was a belter of a song :)
