Celtic 25/26 Summer transfer window: Stage: Nicholson firing up the Fax Machine

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Sgt Neppers*, Mar 16, 2025.

  1. I wonder if the lack of wingers is us waiting to see how good Osmond and Yamada are.

If those two were to be as good as like Hooper and Stokes or whatever, then we'd probably want wingers, if those two struggle and don't do much we'd probably want a striker and a winger.

But even then you'd still want one wide player anyway. Unless Nygren is going to be played on the right.

We have 6 real games to see these guys and even after that will still have 5/6 days of the window left to decide what more we need to do.

  2. I'm sorry but a 19 year old loanee with 6 first team appearances to his name should not be our only CB signing this Summer. I don't give a * if he's from Man City, it's unacceptable.

What a joke we are. How hard is it to get 3 or 4 quality players in, seriously? I can already see how the rest of this window will play out. To be honest it was expected from us. I've totally lost interest in the last few years because of our * about and blatant inability and lack of interest to improve on and off the park.

You can cut and paste any of my posts from the last 4/5 windows and they'd still apply. There was a shining beacon of light in 2021-2022, but that's long gone.

Until the Desmond's and Lawwell's * off once and for all, it will be groundhog day for us fans. I pray for their exile. The silent, invisible-man 'chief executive' can get to * as well.

Stephen Welsh could be forced to wait for a move away from Celtic this summer.
Plymouth Argyle have lodged an official loan offer for the centre-half which the Hoops are considering.
It is understood the deal on the table DOES have a future purchase option.
However Celtic have not yet made any decision on the 25-year-old.
It is believed Welsh and his club are open to a possible loan switch - with his long-term future likely away from Parkhead - but the Pilgrims have not yet been given an answer.
Celtic, it is understood, are waiting until later in the window to weigh up all options for Welsh.
It is believed KV Mechelen is no longer an alternative to Argyle.
It comes as Celts agreed a loan move of their own with Manchester City for Jahmai Simpson-Pusey.
The youngster should join up at Lennoxtown with his new teammates before their Champions League qualifier.

  5. I’ve been slowly but surely losing interest over the last few years as well. Only went to a couple of games last season and I’d be lying to your face if I said I missed it to be honest.

The level of disconnect between the club and the support is gargantuan.

    The relationship is purely transactional.

I promised myself I’d try and ignore this transfer window as it’s completely out of our control, but it’s genuinely sad to see our potential being thrown away when you consider what we could achieve with serious professionals running the club.

  6. Genuinely despise the way we act in terms of recruitment… sick of saying it year on year but we have no ambition what so ever.

Now we’ve missed out on a potentially perfect McGregor understudy/replacement for just over £2m. Bacanin off to * Basel.

Could have signed him, Munteanu, Orjasaeter and Breum and still be on a net spend of zero.

Just really isn’t difficult at all.

  8. He's not going to be 3rd of 4th pick he's a CB who can genuinely bring the ball out, dribble, pass and is quick . We are absolutely crying out for that type of player , we will end up with an extra man over as he can carry the ball into the midfield. It's a short term fix (a season ) but I think he will be a real good player for us and add an extra dimension to our game building attacks.

  9. Think he will get game time, but be surprised if hes first choice.

It feels like we arent going to invest further in CB until Trusty gets another season to see if he establishes himself.

If Scales ends up playing 50% of our games this season it will be another failure of recruitment and squad management.

  11. Surely to * the reason behind the delay is bcoz we are not wanting to jump the gun too early and waste one of our last 2 loan spaces on him when others may benefit more from one

  12. Hoarding cash. 5 legitimate reasons.

    1. We're tight.
    2. We're inept.
    3. We're being tight and inept.
    4. Board know Rodgers is off in May. Be tight.
    5. Preparations made for a sale. (Not on the cards)

All * reasons. Your squad should always be the best it can be. Now get out there and get the quality that the manager wants.

  13. Major Stadium upgrade or surrounding area work? Like Hotel/Museum/Ticket Office/Superstore being built?

  14. am sure loan fee could be over million pound. Man City not loaning them for free

  15. It could be, but discounted that, as the main stand just had dug outs, tunnel and corporate boxes done recently.

  16. Think most of us would be absolutely fine about having the sort of money we do in the bank if it was for something major, like a stadium upgrade or the Hotel/Museum. It’s an investment by the club then, which would bring us in more revenue and give us a larger turnover. I think we could all get behind that.

£100m to add 10,000 seats onto the South stand and finish the bowl, is the price we were told a couple of years ago. Simple maths tells you that if you have an additional 10,000 fans at £750 a person, it’s an extra £7.5m a year in season ticket money alone. So, it’s a long term investment that likely pays itself back in less than 10 years. Obviously, the Hotel/Museum was going to cost £250m and the club were looking at private investors and potentially some funding from the government but again, it’s additional revenue for the club… but it’s something the fans would really get behind I think.

The silence over the whole thing is what makes me people infuriated. Just tell us what you’re doing with the money.

  17. As I said in previous posts, every six years we have a lull season. This is looking like that season

  18. It used to seem ridiculous that we'd deliberate sabotage ourselves to make the league more exciting and give the huns a leg up but is there any other reason for robbing our fans blind and then sitting on massive piles of cash?

If they have a plan they need to come out and say what it is.

Only shining light we have at the moment is the Huns don’t look anything with the players they have, should have been battered by panithanikos

  19. We have 5 centre backs on the books now so unless one goes out I think that will be it, 6 if you include Inamura who can cover in there. It's extremely underwhelming signing, all that money in the bank and we reduce ourselves to this.
