    Aye at present yeah but think it's widely assumed Welsh will go and if you think Murray will go on loan then aye just the 6 so can only name a squad of 23 of which 3 are keepers.

    A better approach would have been to sign a ready made CB on a permanent deal and punt scales and allow Murray to develop here.

    If I was Murray seeing this guy come in id be asking away. No wonder any decent youth prospect * off at 1st opportunity

    Might the only one, but quite content with this for now and see how Trusty and Murray get on between now and window shutting.

    Thought Trusty showed up well against Al-Ahli and Murray against Ajax. Big money needs spent up top, so unless something pops up before window shots that’s too good I’d go with this the now.

    Looked an absolute bombscare when I seen him against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League last season.

    Tyler Blackett level stuff. Hopefully a one off.

    There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with loaning players if the targets you want aren’t available and you want to strengthen the squad, so I think some of the reaction to this has been too negative.

    I think our board and recruitment team have run out of goodwill from the support though, so I understand the cynicism.

    Looking forward to him being a revelation and all the raging folk going off their nut trying hard to praise him but not too much because he's a 'kick the can doon the road' and the board are all tory huns.

    Welcome young chap, go smash it :50:

    You don't understand why most fans are furious at our board and in fact you are reveling in us doing it on the cheap?

    Absolutely spot on, with all of this! :60:

    They can try for options to buy, but clubs/players are outwith our control... And 1 or 2 years of a quality player we'd never be able to afford, or would lose after 6 months anyway, is better than nothing, especially with cl in play.

    There's a serious divide with the board and fans at the moment, where even the respect/credit they have is grudgingly given, and not even that by a sizable section. They're ripping every cent out of every possible income stream and offering only the minimum quality and quantity in return. It's a precarious game they're playing...

    FFS, our board don't even know how to penny-pinch the right way. I'm sure Murray can handle himself in Scotland. And this guy coming in isn't that kind of class to stroll through European games, is he?

    This isn't a deadline day scramble,so must be very much planned, which makes me think it's very much a Rodgers decision too... Don't know him, or what he's about, but if he's good I'll take him for the season to bolster around CCV and see how it goes.

    We can do better, for sure, but this doesn't seem like the worst business we've ever done anyway, so I'm not gonna hit the panic button just yet...

    We should leave that panic button to @Blochairnbhoy :BR1:

    I don't think things are as bad, as some are trying to paint a picture on here.

    @Blochairnbhoy Only kidding :34:

    I don't know how I feel about this one tbh. I doubt City are letting a 19 year old with first team apps come up here to a fourth choice behind CCV, Trusty and Scales. I also think it's a bit of a slap in the face to Dane Murray. I think in an ideal world we all wanted a starting CB to come in and take the jersey from Scales/Trusty and I don't think this is the guy

    If that's the case how come most of the big teams in European leagues don't loan players. Copenhagen didn't last year, neither did PSV, neither did USG, neither did Sporting Lisbon. If you are operating a player trading model you only end up loaning players in you are in financial difficulty or if you've failed in your transfer strategy. We seem to fail every season in our transfer strategy and change nothing.

    You’ve listed clubs there that have loaned players. Copenhagen had 5 players on loan there last season, PSV only one in Malacia but another in Matvej Kovar this season. USG didn’t but Sporting loaned a GK as well.

    I think in an ideal world you’d buy and develop your own players but to act like the act of loaning players is in itself an indication of failure or financial difficulty is false.

    * depressing.

    I’d be amazed if City allow this deal to go through if he’s not going to be a regular starter.

    So we’ll have CCV (injury prone), Scales (donkey), Trusty (less than convincing), Murray and Simpson-Pusey (almost zero first team experience between them).

    How can anyone be okay with that? That group of CB’s is absolutely * dross.

    We do these deals for the exact same reason we get free transfers, do loan-to-buy, aim for players from Asia, and target players running down their contract. They are low risk and we clearly don't trust our own recruitment structure to spend >6m and get it right.

    The logical approach would be to hire proven recruitment team from a smaller club that've shown consistent results but we are far too convinced of our own cleverness in the market.

    Buying Idah, Engels and Trusty doesn't prove there isn't value in that bracket, it proves our recruitment and underlying analysis isn't working.

    There needs to be a consistent campaign to at least encourage fan-to-club engagement and the only way to do so is through media/publicity.

    By their own measure they are failing by stock-piling money yet they have no plan to get out of it.
