Not feeling confident at all, for the first time in a long time domestically.

Overall we'll be worse or at best, similar to last year domestically given the huge gap outside of old firm.
Rangers in theory, should be better than before.
Looking back on recent old firm games, we been schooled the last 4 - but they struggled against weaker times v our consistency.

Can they improve v the others? Who knows, they could have/should have won league under Clement but shat the bed v Motherwell, Ross County and Dundee.

Bottom line, it feels like it's much more about them and whether they improve versus a stagnant Celtic that will define our domestic season
That is an absolutely shocking position to be in.

Europe, if we qualify - last season we had an incredibly favourable draw up against 3 of very weakest teams in whole UCL 36.
You couldn't have hand picked better.
Assuming the draw not quite as kind, I don't see us making top 24.

I only see trouble ahead for the team and club - as it stands right now.
But it's still possible to stay ahead again and improve further, what say you Peter Lawell?

At the moment, low. The squad quality has been reduced since last season, where things clealry went very stale after February.

So with the same manager, same set up and tactics, with reduced quality (as it stands) along with very frustrated fans. A few dropped points and not qualifying for CL will see us on the back foot.

We're on a down trend, with no reversal in sight. A managed decline.

We're still favourites for the league but that's more to do with the standard of opposition than anything we've done. As a previous poster rightly said, all the excitement has been sucked away. As it stands the best case scenario for this season is we manage to retain the title. Worse case is it all goes *-up in a big way and we don't win a thing. The fact that that is even a possibility, given the position of strength we start from compared to the other teams, says it all about our board.

Confident that we win it but not due to our quality. I think we will win it because Rangers have bought alot of players, changed tactics and about everything with the club. I think they have spent their money very smart.

So i think we will win it this season but we will need to improve massively in the market otherwise i think they will eventually catch up and challange us every season like the old club did.

It will ultimately come down to Russell's ability to win the run of the mill league games. If they can consistently win home/away against all the rest and ask a question of our papered over squad I think we are in trouble. Although the way Russell sets up I think they will concede a lot of goals and drop a fair whack of points. First two weekends will tell a lot them away to motherwell and us at away in pittodrie

As it stands we will struggle badly to break down teams away from home.

I remember from 2 seasons ago we had a spell of 2 or 3 games im sure with mikey Johnson and James Forrest as our wingers and we were * awful. That 2 or 3 game spell will be our new normal.

Cba with Sunday now if im honest. Part of the fact is down to the ridiculous kick off time but Celtic have done nothing to give is any confidence.

Looking at the league betting on value only then Rangers at 2/1 are far better value than celtic at 2/5.

Right now, I would say varied the immediate one I see an issue with due to timing is CL qualification, I could see us get a tricky tie like Basel and get put out due to being short in a few areas. Europe overall could be quite embarrassing regardless of what competition we land in.

I can see us get a title over the line but that’s relying on Rangers taking some time to settle and in the end it being very close as we end up going through a spell being very short of key players. I do worry if they get of to a good start and we falter that we never quite get going.

We were pretty fortunate last year until that mad run around Christmas that we didn’t really have many injuries where as the season before we were plagued with them.

All of the above could very well change depending on who we draw in CL qualifying and who we do eventually bring in to the squad and what that squad looks like by the end of the window.

Teams found us out towards later part of last season.

Huns, Hibs, Aberdeen and St Mirren all realised if you play 5 at the back v us, our slow ponderous, boring, side to side passing isn't capable of breaking it down.

We are weaker than we were then so can't see it going great to be honest.

St Mirren were here 2 months ago and it took us until the 92nd minute to break them down. Can't see Sunday being any less of a struggle.

Add to that the rather obvious fractured relationship between board and manager and the constantly fractured relationship between board and fans and you have all the ingredients for a * disaster.

    The confidence is fighting.

I'm really trying to give benefit of doubt that it's not even August yet and the bigger money deals, in Celtic style could be long drawn out affairs and so hopeful that we see some relative statement signings in any of the areas like CB, RW, CDM, ST.

I would argue that if we can get the CB and RW signing right, we'd be laughing for the league as whilst we all hold strong opinions on the likes of Idah, that upfront we will do fine with the likes of Yamada, Idah and Osmand all available - I got no proof to back that up, just blind faith but I am largely feeling good about Yamada and Osmand.

If we somehow, dont address any of those areas which I've pointed out which I feel are largely the positions fans want sorted and we see lazy loan options without options to buy, even if the player is amazing for us for the season and cheap obscure punts akin to Shved that was a tipping point for Rodgers last time round. Then I feel we deliberately, once again, as the board love doing, cutting our nose to spite our face because they bizarrely choke our ability to grow for the sake of a "competitive" domestic campaign, and leave money on table (CL participation for a single season) that winning 20iar wouldnt even come close to matching in terms of financial reward.

Should be buzzing for the new season but those above have once again sucked enthusiasm out of a lot of supporters.
Gambling with a qualifier once again who would of thought.
Domestically we will be fine, as we should be. The very bare minumum is the league but that shouldn't be the aim of our success. We were excellent (bar a couple) in the champions league and we should be pushing on to be even better but we never build on it or show any sort of ambition.
I'm happy with Nygren and Tierney. Inamura looks good but again it's only pre season. This might be controversial but I really don't think Osmand will ever be a regular here. He might feature in the first month or so but bar that I think he will have a couple of loan moves then be sold. (again I hope I'm wrong) Doohan is a tick box.
To not have a replacement in yet for Kuhn is embarrasing WHEN we knew he wanted to leave. It's not like it just sprang out of nowhere. What have the club been doing on that regard? No one can defend that, it's shocking. I actually like Yang and think he's a decent option to have in the SQUAD, I must echo the fact that he should not be starting our first league game, or Forrest for that matter.
I don't believe for a second that we have to 'wait' till the end of the window to bring in quality'. Thats an excuse that gets towed by a few people and it's complete bullshit because how become other clubs are able to get 'quality' in and get signings done relatavely quick.
It's not a complete disaster because we've only lost Kuhn really but we need to start getting a move on.

Even last season when Jota got injured or if Kuhn was off it our creativity levels dropped massively.

That's why we need 3 wingers/arrackng mids and a new striker imo. We really need to spread the load up there. We've lost so many goals from the side in 12 months.

2 wingers isn't enough. We need another right winger when kuhn was still here!

I'm as confident as I always am at the start of a season. We've built up a relentless winning mentality as a club over the years, such that I always assume we'll come out the traps flying.

Squad depth is lacking atm but we'll sort that out over the next few weeks. Our biggest advantage is the mentality that's been drummed into the various squads. The collective mindset that we work hard and demand results constantly.

Confidence isn’t great to be honest. Nothing to do with any other club, I just feel there’s a malaise here that we can’t shift. We’ve been getting away with it but I can’t help but think its reaching a critical point now.

I honestly think a couple of exciting signings to re-engage everyone and breathe life into the squad would make all the difference.

I think people that aren't concerned should be. The huns only need to consistently beat the muck in our league to mount a challenge and they had no problem beating us at their worst last season. Albeit they didnt win a truly meaningful game against us.

Meh, I still think we will win the league but more due to the huns having had quite a bit of upheaval. If their new manager/players/tactics gel quickly and they stop dropping as many points against the rest of the league we could be in trouble.
Also worry that we might get * out of the qualifiers and drop a few points early on and lose to the huns and never get back on track.
Really starting to feel the general malaise around the club and that we are in a period of managed decline and will only act once it's too late (losing the league or not qualifying for CL for example)
However, a couple of quality signings would go a long way to easing my concerns.

Aaaaarrrrgggghh! As it stands at the minute, just bleeding Aaaaarrrgghhh! Going to be a tighter one, it shouldn't but it could. We're famous for leaving things late in the day, so not putting away any sharp implements just yet. . It's concerning but not quite panic stations ... ... yet.

At the moment, low as *. Might different at the end of the window.

if it stays as is no * can honestly say we will go a cruise it. I would expect us to be in a dog fight and be a poor season.

Be interesting if we do get bodies in the door or not.

We need to see us playing first and even end the window, we'll know more in 2 month.

Pusey, Inamura, Nygren or Yamada could all be quality and POTY candidates or they could struggle and hardly kick a ball. Tierney could be flying and destroying teams or injured for fun.

Need to see how it plays out.
