As the title says, how are your confidence levels for the coming season, based on the squad we have today?

    Not that high.

We are 1-2 injuries to a few select players away from a disaster.

I don't think the Huns will be as bad as they were last year and other teams in the league will improve. So it's gonna be a harder and even longer feeling season than last. At this moment we don't have the squad to complete across 4 fronts.

Unless we get about 6 first team players in by the end of August I think we will have sold ourselves short. Again.

    Depends on what..

We're still good enough to dominate domestically... for now!

We should take care of all potential CL Qualification opponents.. should..

This squad gets destroyed in the CL tho..

Excited about, KT, Nygren, Shin and Inamura. .. Osmand too..

But, we're an injury or two away from making things on all fronts very risky..

We will add, just hope its not too late..

Not worried about the oncoming season yet, still a month to go in the window and I don't mean that in a way to excuse our business, but things can change for both us and the huns.

For me, I think the biggest thing we have going our way is the gulf in managers. I think Martin is rotten and there's still a lot of huns far from enamoured with him, and similar to us on the wings, they're still very weak in certain positions. If they go into the season with Butland in goal, they aren't winning the league.

Of course we can't take anything for granted, and we should have had more signings a week ago, but still too soon to necessarily be worried.

All can change in a few weeks.

I think Martin will actually have them playing more successfully against the lesser sides due to his style. Ironically it may suit us more in the derbies.

As usual, let’s revisit by the end of the Window.

I dont fully agree tbh, I think they'll be a lot more open and I could see them struggling a lot against the likes of Livingston and any other team that sits back. I do think they'll do a lot better against the bigger sides that attack them outwith us in the league.

Wait and see I suppose, I stand by the fact if they don't sign a GK then they aren't winning the league, Butland will cost them a lot of points, pleasantly surprised they've had no serious links yet, but a lot can happen in a month.

Higher than most probably, but it’s dependent on what we do in the next couple of weeks.

I don’t think it’s sky falling time like some, but we’re gambling with CL qualification (again) and that’s not acceptable. Need a couple of wingers in pronto.

I honestly think, as it stands, we're in big fuccin trouble.

As @Mr Shelby says, a couple of injuries to key players, we're *.

We were anything but impressive post xmas last year, and a 25 min spanking at the hands of Ajax showed just how vulnerable we actually are.

We've lost Kuhns and Kyogos goals and despite Shin looking quite handy, Idah couldn't hit a barn door.

All the other sides in the league will improve, including Sevco, who with their new manager won't be at the mercy of the weaker sides in league imo.

Squad depth is basically non existent, duffers like Scales are still currently considered first choice, and any injuries to likes of KT, CCV (both highly likely) or Maeda and were in crisis.

There also seems to be a crisis of confidence with too many players also; Trusty, CCV, Idah, Engels. But most markedly is the drop off in performances of certain players.

So call me a panic merchant if you like, but unless we start making SERIOUS moves in the market within these next couple of weeks we could find ourselves locked in a title race and being thoroughly walloped on the continent.

This. No point in starting this thread at the moment. We all know as it currently stands things are shockingly dire.

Well as it stands we're going to have to play a handful of competitive games with the current squad, so it's a worthwhile discussion.

We're miles behind where we should be at this point but looking historically at windows we have occasionally landed on quality later on in summer windows: Juranovic, Giakoumakis, CCV (loan) Bernardo (loan)

We really need 4-5 quality signings that go immediately into the squad though. Given how well we done in the group stage last year we should be perfectly primed for a play-off but instead we look miles weaker.

If the Huns get Antman and the Crystal Palace winger, you could argue it’s very even.

We will strengthen, obviously. How we strengthen is what worries me, especially some of the players we are targeting. We’ve lost a huge amount of goals and assists from that team with Kyogo and Kuhn both leaving and Idah/Kenny are not showing enough, Maeda is needed out on the left and we’ve brought in a relatively unknown in Yamada. We are going about this extremely risky.

The board seem quite happy to be risk averse when it comes to signings but don’t mind risking the league and/or Champions League qualification because of their strategy.

At the moment, not confident at all. Rangers are a total unknown at the moment. They could be worse than last season, could be better. One things for sure they'll be different. Us on the other hand as things stand, we look worse. Failed to prepare for CL qualifiers, failed to prepare for opening day of the season and look set to leave it late in the window to add positions we need. Which for me, screams that we either didn't have a definitive list of targets we wanted going into the window, or we lowballed all their clubs and are moving down a list and will end up with players at the bottom of it. I think its a matter of time before our abysmal dealings with other clubs comes back to haunt us. Could be this season.

Pretty concerned. Im not really sure what to expect from the team. Amongst my concerns as things stand now:

We we became inconsistent and laboured post December last really. Finished the season poorly. The team looked flat and it felt like opposition had began to suss us out a bit. If we get the performances that we were putting in over the last few months of last season then this year could be a slog.

When the team was playing consistently we had Maeda and Kuhn posting great numbers. Kuhn is gone and not sure realistically if we can expect Maeda to hit the same heights again - if his level dips then that spells trouble.

The balance of the midfield was an issue for me. Pretty lightweight. We look to be going same again with that. McGregor a year older with a lot of minutes in the legs in a pivotal role in the side. Not much by way of an alternative and if hes injured our system seems to break down with nobody else able to play his role properly.

Central defence - lack of quality on the ball there for how we want to play. Scales clearly not the level needed to start but every chance he will start plenty of games. CCV fitness not guaranteed which leaves us with a Scales / Trusty defence if hes out. This was the area Id have liked to see us ugrade the most but appears like its same again as last year with no improvement. Left back - no real cover for Tierney who may not be able withstand a full season on 50 odd games.

Uncertainty around the manager, whether hes likely to stay, whether hes fed up, whether he might mentally begin to check out.

Transfer window so far suggests no real statement of intent to build on anything. At best treading water. KT is a welcome upgrade but the team overall feels weaker rather than stronger than last year. Attitude from the club seems to be almost total emphasis on financial restraint so far.

Main rivals domestically are now starting to regroup and invest under a more formidable ownership. They can only improve on last year and are currently outspending us. Instead of rising to this and laying down any kind of marker we look like we are just leaving the door wide open for them to close the gap to us.
