Not been a great pre season for him tbh.

Don't think his head has been turned or anything, hopefully just a bit rusty.

Not at the races tonight. Would like to see him back through the middle but not happening while Idah is still here imo.

Think he might have his head turned at a potential move

He 100% needs to play through the middle. The best striker we have by a mile

Where he hasn’t been his best this preseason I actually don’t expect he will be close to the form he showed the second half of last season this one.

I do think sorting out his future is important though. See if we weren’t so incompetent in recruitment, turning down a massive bid for him would be mental. However, we are and the thought of losing him the now with so much to do would be a disaster.

Maeda should play through middle or be sold.
He's back to normal Maeda - last season's purple patch was a one off - he will never be worth more than today.
But you at least have to give him a run at CF.

Rogers is so feckin desperate for Idah to do well because he staked his reputation on signing him - now it's now hurting rest of the team and stopping Maeda extending his deal.

Daizen Maeda has delayed talks over a new contract with Celtic amid growing interest in a big-money move this summer.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 27-year-old has had his head turned by Premier League interest.

While he is happy to remain at Parkhead and will not force a move away, he is reluctant to commit to a long-term contract at this stage of the window.

Instead, he plans to assess any offers that come in for him after Football Insider revealed Tottenham and Brentford are interested in signing Maeda.

The Japan international will take his time before making a decision about his future and plans to leave his options open in case he receives an offer he can’t refuse.

This comes after Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Celtic had held contract talks with Maedaand were optimistic of reaching an agreement.

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider in June that Brendan Rodgers is determined to keep Maeda and build his team around him.

Now, Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that while he may still remain at Parkhead, the forward’s head has been turned by interest.

“I think the Premier League interest has turned his head a bit,” he told Football Insider.

With two years left on his contract, he’s going to have a look at all of his options, and this summer he’s going to wait and see what comes up.

“It’s a win-win situation for him because he’s going to be happy to stay at Celtic.

“It isn’t that he wants to leave, but if a Premier League club come in for him, he might want to make that move so he doesn’t want to close that door.

“Signing a new contract now means that opportunity will never come up.

At this stage, that’s been delayed and he’ll wait and see who comes in for him.”

If anyone makes a bid that matches our valuation, he will be sold. And we will huff and puff and in the end do nothing. We'll accept it because we don't have any choice. The only way that changes is if we lose the league.

To say I would be over the moon if we manage to get Maeda to sign a new contract would be quite the understatement.

On the 30th, Nippon Television announced that the Japanese national team FW Dairen Maeda (Celtic/Scotland) has been appointed as the cheering leader for the 104th National High School Soccer Championship. Following the 100th tournament, it will be his second time to be a cheering leader, and it will be his first time alone.

Maeda, who is currently 27 years old, graduated from Yamanashi Gakuin University Affiliated High School (now Yamanashi Gakuin High School). In the third year, he scored two goals in the district tournament final of the 94th tournament, but did not participate in the national tournament. After graduation, he played for Celtic since January 2022 after playing for Matsumoto Yamaga FC, Mito Holy Hook, Maritimo, and Yokohama F. Marinos, and won the Scottish Premier League MVP of the Year last season.

The 104th National High School Soccer Championship will open on December 28, 2025. The final match is scheduled to be held on January 12, 2026.

When I was a sophomore in high school, I was expelled from the soccer club due to a violation of discipline, and I couldn't play soccer for a whole year. My friends in the soccer club were on the ground, and I went straight home every day, so it was hard not to be able to play soccer with my friends, but when I was able to go back, I caused trouble, so I didn't run and fight more than anyone else for my friends. I strongly feel that I can't do it, and I think I learned the idea of "fighting for the team" here. The district tournament and finals in the 3rd year were a game that I honestly thought I could win with 2 points, but I still remember it well because I lost. In a game that left me regret that I could have won if I had scored more points, everyone was crying after the game, but for some reason I didn't cry. I think I've already switched to the idea of doing my best and playing an active role in the next stage. The National Tournament was a stage that I had always longed for, so of course I wanted to stand on the pitch, but I was able to meet better teammates, coaches, and coaches than that, so it was really good to play soccer in high school. I think so.
