Was it not said, every penny made from transfers would be reinvested in the team???

I think the above analysis of what’s going on at the club is spot on. I also listened to the podcast where they were discussing it and again couldn’t disagree with any of it.

Similarly the narrative we are some super run business can largely be explained by inflationary pressures on sponsorship deals and other commercial arrangements. How does this show up? Our costs have largely risen in line with the revenue.

A couple of anomalies in the financial year 2022/23 such as the COVID insurance payment and Ange leaving gave us an additional £13.5m we wouldn’t normally get which boosted OPEX that year.

Essentially the plan was and is to be conservative and hasn’t moved on to reflect when we were getting CL money we could have been more adventurous. I will argue again we will never have a better opportunity to secure 5 years CL league/ group stage football which would secure the game changing finances for the club but we seem * bent on being ultra conservative and blowing it.

If we had reinvested some of our finances in our recruitment process we could be in a far stronger position.

Thing is you don’t need to be in the inner circle within the club to know that our recruitment again is just scatter gun approach as usual … and it’s concerning to me as to how we’re actually valuing these targets and how much time we’re wasting lowballing them.

Swedish boy - offer 3 million goes for 10

    Dutch winger - offer 1.5 and they’re wanting 6.5

Balikwisha - A target for 2 seasons at this point and we’re still not sure if he’s worth 4 or 5 … so is he good enough for us or not? You would think we would have more of a clue having scouted him for as long as we have.

And now we’re on to loans without buying options … not because we’re strapped for cash but only because it’s easier to negotiate just loan deals.

    Just can't get enough
Most clubs scout a b or c, start at a if they fall through on to the next and so on so forth but we just don't seem to do that we * about low balling clubs while we're wanting top dollar and end up scrambling at the last min to get body's in it's all to common now

I’ve never seen the vast majority of support unite over their disdain of the board like this.

It’s fairly unanimous across speaking to people in person and on social platforms like this.

I think they’re in for a shock on Sunday.

Of course you’ll still get the extra dumb * who’d back Lawwell up in a square ago against their own maw, it’ll take a Rangers title win for them to admit there’s been a degree of mismanagement, and even at that probably not.

The thing is since Rodgers returned I cant recall a window where we haven't had a period of discussion like this. Happened in January when we didn't sign a striker, Rodgers not happy.

Happened last summer and took us till the last week to do anything of significance.

Happened previous January, lawwell apologies publicly.

Then summer 2023, need I say anymore on that one.

I feel like the reaction was pretty bad last summer, with that guy for example going up to Lawwell in public. My problem is that if we do spend money and if we start winning games it'll all get forgotten until the next time. I'd put a fair chunk of change on us being back here in 12 months having the same discussion.

I was pretty calm until the past week or so. Silence is currently deafening. Why have a manager like Rodgers when it's clear there's such a disconnect...I bet Lawwell can't wait until we can get someone in who he can * about again.

By the way....had this thought last night. Folk are getting * off now, what would it be like if we sold Maeda as well. Board would need to get the fences back out!

Which isn’t far away from happening.

The day they overtake us again will be 99% down to our board. Don’t care about the huns new owners, investment etc.

We should be light years ahead of them. The fact they beat us a couple of times last season is shocking enough. Financially we’ve not been in the same league for well over a decade.

Genuinely wouldn't put it past them but if they can read the room even slightly they wouldn't dare just now, surely..

Wouldn't be us without a huge dose of self sabotage from within the hierarchy.

New recruits should have been in weeks ago and bedded in to the team to give us a fair start to the season.

Personally I try to not think about it too much or it would drive me crazy.

We can blame the board all we want but it is one man one family that's put them there and they will be doing what they are told to do.

If any of these supposed EPL teams firm up their interest and will pay our going rate he will be off you would imagine. Probably after the qualifier and it will be a mad scramble.

I think Hatate could be the same too. I doubt they would sell both but links to the boy from Liverpool make me think there could be something in there as we have 6 centre midfielders just now, McGregor, McCowan and Engels won’t be moving this summer, Nygren is just in the door so you would think he would come in to displace Bernardo or Hatate.

Agree, our board should already be a decade or more down the path that we assume the huns american owners are planning to go down.
The only way the huns get the better of us, is our board sleeping at the wheel, again, and the huns managing to implement a decent football structure that actually operates to the betterment of the club.

We have laughed at the huns for years now because they always appoint/hire/sign what they think is guys who "get it" and the end of the day they are either too stupid to run a football club, or too emotionally invested in "getting it" that they cant see the bigger picture.

The americans may see that bigger picture - may.

Our board have slept at the wheel long enough and refuse to modernise, that there is a genuine possibility if we continue as we are doing right now, that the huns may get that lucky streak and win the league in a couple years. But I imagine enough of our fans will still pat the board on the back for not having us get liquidated, because thats the main aim.
