Boy looks the business, the strength in him for his size is crazy, holding off they big * 2 at a time and emerging with the ball.

Can just tell he'll get plenty goals with the service he'll get with us. More options on the wings and he'll tear it up.

Brendan Rodgers insists Shin Yamada could blast his way into his Champions League plans after an impressive debut.

The £1.5m striker drilled the winning spot kick in their shootout win against Saudi big guns Al Ahli in the Como Cup third place play-off to end their Italian trip.

Yamada also had a goal ruled out for offside as Celts came back from a goal down to end their tour on a high note.

The Japan ace was denied a debut against Ajax after being caught up in red tape

But he made the most of his chance from the bench in Como and has been challenged to barge his way into Rodgers’ European plans.

He said: “It was nice for Shin. It’s not been easy for him when you think he’s only just come into the club.

He’s come to a new culture and new way of working with a real intensity. But he’s worked really hard in training.

“Sadly he didn’t get the run-out the other night but the plan was to give him 45 minutes tonight and I felt he worked really hard when he came on.

“He showed good composure, he’s very quick and strong.

He wants to get in behind and, from the wee bits I’ve seen of him so far, he just needs to get into more decisive positions to score.

“We are a team that creates a lot of opportunities.

“But he’s strong and he can press the game. The challenge is there for everyone.

All the players want to be involved in that and there is enough time for all the players to be able to do that

Funnily enough I think that'll suit Idah down to the ground.

Think his speed will work wonders in Europe with the high lines. Hes just got to try bend his runs slightly to time them better unless its hatate on the ball because hes got the vision to see the run in time. Hopeful with this one.

Just imagine him, Maeda and a new pacey right winger in Europe. Be unbelievable counter attacking speed.

Has to start against St Mirren, but we all know it'll be Idah.

From what I saw last night, if you put Shin and Maeda next to each other and had a sprint race over 100m, then I'd definitely say Shin would be faster from the start. His couple of explosive sprints last night were unreal and imo he definitely looks quicker on a dash. Now would he be faster than Maeda over a distance, who knows.

Maeda has certainly shown that when someone has 3-4 yards head start he can still get there first.

Can imagine he doesn't come close to Maeda's endurance levels. His running in minute 90 is the same as minute 1. Hard to imagine another player doing that.

Japanese Gary Hooper but quicker? That’s what I’m getting reading these comments.

Its Meada's recovery and then to go again immediately that makes him unique. Think Kuhn was actually quicker in a straight sprint..

If Shin has that too, or anywhere near that and we can sign a RW who can do it from there too, we'll absolutely terrorise teams.. :56:

Last night (Saturday, July 27), Celtic rounded off their pre-season fixture schedule with a victory over Saudi Arabian side, Al-Ahli.

With the scoreline level at 1-1 after 90 minutes, the game was settled by a penalty shootout, with the Bhoys firing five perfect spot-kicks beyond the Al-Ahli keeper to make the most of the advantage that Vil Sinisalo had secured by saving the Saudi Arabian side’s third penalty.

The winning penalty was scored by Shin Yamada, who made his first appearance for the Celts last night and, speaking to Celtic TV after the match, the Japanese forward reflected on last night’s victory and how pleased he is to be a Celtic player.

“I’m glad to be a part of this Celtic team,” Shin said. “And I’m happy to score the last goal to win the game.

“I wish I could have scored during the game, but in the end I contributed so it’s good.

‘The quality of the team is very high, so I’m enjoying the football side of things.’

“This is the first time I have moved to a different club, so I am enjoying that.

“The first league game is coming soon, and we’ll play in different competitions, so I would like to score a lot of goals and share good moments with the fans.”

Aye, spot on. Kuhn was quicker, but the application of Maeda is what makes him so special. If Shin is even close to that I'll be delighted.

Yet khun never had a faster sprint than meada in the champions league, where they actually measure that. Think meada was 3rd out the competition. So lazy khun isn't quicker going by that proof.

Hopefully he can hit the ground running in the league, I was gutted for him that he was just off for his goal as we really need him to get a couple of early goals, get his confidence up and hopefully he can have a Kyogo-esq when he first arrived impact. Not asking for much.

We are so short across our front 3, I would genuinely say Hearts probably have as good if not better attacking options just now than us in terms of depth.

Sure that's right too. Regardless of how quick Kuhn is, him being a lazy * once he thought he'd done enough to get his move is without doubt. Shame as early on that wasn't the case.

It was the opposite I think, Maeda had far more sprints but Kuhn clocked a time in the top 5 whereas I think Maeda was top 10 or 15.

Maeda making central runs over the top from left while shin also runs behind could cause havoc for any high line.
