I only managed to see a short bit of the game and he was getting absolutely rag dolled by that Brobbey.

He isn’t good enough and certainly shouldn’t be considered a starter for us.

    Fantastic against Newcastlw, terrible tonight.

Rodgers weird fascination with him needs to end.

Always has those performances in him. When he's bad, he's comically bad.

He’s a shocking footballer for our level. So many deficiencies.

No harm to him, big honest lad no doubt, but it’s absolutely mental that he’s going in to his third straight season getting a game at centre back every week for Celtic.

    Genuinely mind boggling.

Celtic, mind. With multi millions sitting idly in the bank, and this fella is your starting centre half.

Struggled against that big striker tonight (think a LOT of defenders would, he was * solid). No great watching him keep trying to get tight with him, lost the battle and then some.

That aside, had a few lovely passes forward and a couple of good interceptions. An off night for sure, but still has plenty to offer.

Trusty man of the match on Saturday but Brendan's pet back in again tonight to turn in yet another * horrific performance.

What the * does he see in him other than his passport.

Nawrocki, Lagerbielke, Trusty all bombed out for far less.

Not saying any of them were perfect but not given anywhere near as many * ups as Scales.

Imagine anybody the other 3 had turned in a performance like Scales did in that 1st half at Ibrox at new year.

Another blue eyed boy Rodgers will persist with and non ironically reference when talking about players developing well under him.

He spent a lot of last season on the bench, CCV and Trusty the preferred partnership. And that will be what starts next week first game of the season without doubt.

He’s shown that he’s good enough to step in when needed though. Friendlies are used to get games into the full squad. Dane Murray started, as did Yang, few would label them first 11 guys.

The worst defender tonight by far for me was CCV when he came on. And that’s ok, first time he’s appeared in pre-season and is behind the others because we let him rest due to International games.

I said the same after we scudded Newcastle on the weekend to caution us going overboard in the different direction than the way I’ll say after Ajax - pre-season friendlies aren’t a good measurement and we need to get a grip on how we react. Honestly preferred back when they weren’t televised and you just found out aw * we played last night in the paper the next day. We react to them as if they’re competitive games. They’re not treated as such by the players or management though.

Rodgers couldnt spot a centre back if he was squatted over him dangling his dice on his forehead.

Its been his blindspot at every club hes been at.

I used to rage hard every time i saw Gary * Caldwell in Strachans line up.
This surpasses that lunacy. By miles.

Scales should be nowhere near us. Nowhere near us.
    Hes a * disaster zone.

Bring the ball out Liam? Ill dander to the halfway line like Mr * Magoo, peeping all over the shop for a green and white shirt... then pass it to the opposition.

Cover that player Liam? Im gonna skinned, swing aff his arm dragging him down.

Keep an eye on that chump Dressers Liam? Naw, lma let him pull my pants down.

Watch that ball in behind Liam? Hold on a minute while hook up this caravan.

Head the ball clear Liam? Not this time pal. Ima try something different here, gonna try to take it down and pass it oot.

Watch your positioning Liam? Im away for a ramble.

The opposition is targeting you Liam? Oh really, thats nice. Gies the ball.

His little fan club on here chat absolute balls. Total trash. Totally baffling take on one if the most underwhelming defenders weve had for YEARS.

A complete liability in terms of which Liam Scales will turn up; the * pudding, or the bang average spl player who doesnt * up but gets handed laurel wreaths by about 6 members on here for not making a * up.

None of this is Scales fault btw. Its not his fault hes pish. And he's certainly not picking himself.

Rodgers is just a * clueless clown when it comes to CB's.
Both Nawrocki and Trusty are levels above Scales. Neither seem to have earned Rodgers' chubby hard on that lets them have a bad performance or two but stay in the line up. That boaby belongs to Liam Scales.

Nawrocki hasnt even had a bad performance ffs!

Id punt him out of the club for as much as I could get this window, asap.

Trying to think of CB’s he’s signed, Fofana at Leicester was a belter of a signing, got punted to Chelsea for £80m after a great season.

At us I can only think of Kolo Toure, Ajer and Jack Hendry. Aw aye, Marvin Compper. Ajer was a cracking signing, Kolo very short lived one who’s legs left him about 3 months in but he was crucial for getting the CL. Further back than that Liverpool can only remember bringing in Lovren off the top of my head, Emre Can if he counts.

Honestly it’s not a particularly weakness for his signings, it’s like the rest of the positions he signs. 3 dross types, a notable really good one is what I think he’s like in general

    all of them
Tiago Ilori ( a massive three appearances in his entire Liverpool career, for 8m quid)
Mamadou Sakho (Who famously walked out of the stadium in anger at Rodgers)
Joe Gomez (although he was injured ALOT)
    Compper ( lol)
Hendry ( what makes this even more mental was how Rodgers waxed lyrical about all the things he was gonna bring to the table).
Ryan Bennet (joke of a CB)
Wout Faes (hated by Leicester fans. Seen along with Souptar as an absolute lunacy signing . 17m. Tried to force a transfer and didn't get a single offer)
    Harry Souptar (another 17m).
    Nat Philips ffs.

I get what youre saying. And i understand that no manager gets them all right.

But if you look at Rodgers' transfer history, less than 10 percent of all his signings have been CB's. And MOST of them have been either average or outight pish, with very few successes.
Alot of them have been outright disasters like those listed above. And few of them ever come comparatively cheap.

He has a very decent hit rate for wingers and attacking mids. Not so much for strikers which is about 50/50; but thats just the nature of that position.

But no the position, in all the players hes signed, close to 900m worth of transfers, has such an signing rate of absolute duffers.

The fact that trusty and Nawrocki have been papped out of the side for Scales is evidence enough.
He hasnt a * scooby what a CB is and prefers the "profile" of a centre back rather than ability and reliability. Which is shocking for a manager of his experience.

He signed Jack Hendry for the exact reasons that he persists with Scales. To bring the ball out. And neither of them are very good at it.

Brobbey is a good player and evidently difficult to mark. But after he was pinned the 8th time you think he'd maybe have the intelligence to try a different approach.

If that was Trusty, guarantee Rodgers takes him off. Scales isn't that much stronger than Trusty yet the latter gets caned.

Scales has put in good performances for us and the fact he's managed to play as many games, fair play. But at the same time, does that not worry even folk that like him? Surely have to be aiming for more.

We should have good teams interested in all of our starting players and wanting to take them off us. That's got to be the goal. Barring McGregor or Schmeichel, any experienced campaigners. Can't ever see that happening with him and that tells us something.

Scales has had two seasons now he’s no better than when Rodgers first came in good for normal spfl game but Glasgow derby or Europe he should be nowhere near the first 11 he infuriates me with his stupidity

He’s a good player but we should definitely be trying to improve on him, Trusty was supposed to be that and at least to an extent he did oust him (particularly in Europe where he proved he has a much higher ceiling) but there’s definitely a position beside CCV to be filled IMO.
