100% agree! Having a settled squad can bring us more for the champ lg qualifiers then saving a little.

Clearly not familiar with how we do business if they expected him in for start of our preseason

I literally spoke to him today. And thats what he said. Thats why i let one rip in the general transfer thread. Cause it really annoyed me hearing that.

but as I said he is not in any sportive capacity or involved in transfer. So might be yesterday’s news. And i might have said it before, due to his injury record I am not hugely keen anyway.

    Said the same..

If he is a top target, pay the money now..

5 mill isn’t exactly unfair, even though I'd rather go for other wingers personally..

We've tried to haggle and hold out. It's clearly getting us nowhere on anything since our early work that didn't need any haggling for anyone. KT was a done deal on pre contract. Nygren a cheap pickup as his contract was running out and we scooped quickly. The Japanese boys fairly easy and cheap. Then a couple of pre contracts..

You'd honestly think we were broke by the way we're going on this window.....so far anyway..

The way it sounded like when we open a ‘welcome player X thread’ they were moving his thread into the ex-player zone lol.

Antwerp desperately need to sell so I get the feeling one more bid from Celtic

If not he’ll go somewhere else

Big time! They had a defender Nastasic(former Man City player) lined up. Medical finished etc, then had to cancel since they couldnt afford his wages. They are seriously downgrading.

But think our issue is that we aren’t even negotiating anymore.

Aye said the same to someone earlier, you'd think we were on a tightrope with FFP the way we've behaved this summer.

I just cant wrap my head around having so much money in the bank and not pre-planning our business.

    It's a shambles..

There's no way Rodgers will be happy about losing our game changing winger of the first half of last season. The clear standout on the right til he downed tools, to 2 coming on 3 weeks later, having James Forrest as the number 1 for there..

We're literally on the verge of Forrest starting our first league game next week and as much as I love him and recognise he has a role to play......it shouldn't be as first or even second pick in my opinion..

Shades of Idah from last summer.

Will hold out nerve until one of our players gets injured and then panic, we will then go back to his club and end up paying more than we should because they know we are then desperate and we will have no choice bcoz not a chance in * will our scouts have bothered their * to find another option.

Rodgers must be seething, he identified Balikwisha last summer, clearly wants him, player wants the move, his club are more than willing to deal at a fair price yet we still manage to make it by complicated.

    We never learn

This tactic of making a lowball offer and then not negotiating is a well known tactic of Lawwells. Rod Petrie called him out on it 7 years ago.

Clubs and football has moved on a * of a lot since then, it seems we haven't.

Why don't you get a job in the media mate, if you even know Rodgers' feelings on it you've clearly got the inside scoop and know more about what's happening behind the scenes than people in the press, who keep updating on this link but haven't been able to add any new info for months now.

I would like to think Rodgers can spot better players than this he doesn't look any better than some of the players in Spl. Especially for the money that's been punted.

Tbf... And this is me, of all people talking, there could be hat full of reasons we've apparently "walked away" from the table, especially if we couple the Belgian ITK info with Burns" tweet.

If, IF, he has been on our radar for a year, and IF hes Rodgers' first preference, then there should be zero excuse from our side; 5m is reasonable as hes clearly not a 10m player, and clearly not a 2m player either.

His club could be looking the full fee or a large percentage up front given their financials.
They could be after a ridiculous sell on fee.
They could be after bonus payments for performances, assists, goals etc.

But the complaint stands. You dont pick up your toys and go home.
Its a ridiculous tactic weve used over and over trying to force the hand of clubs and it rarely, if ever, has worked.

I know ppl are tired of this reference, but this is exactly what happened with the McGinn transfer.
We walked away from the table expecting his club to come begging, meanwhile Bruce took McGinns da out golfing to buy time for Villa to scrape together the paltry 3m pound to sign him.

    THREE... MILLION....POUND.... For McGinn.

While Lawell sat in his office with his feet up on the table playing Candy Crush, practicing zingers like "took you long enough" or "i knew you'd see sense".

    We're a * disgrace.

Toney didn't sign for us because he wasn't guaranteed he was walking straight in as first choice ahead of Eddy and Griffiths at the time, his own words, we didn't * anything not signing him, he made a choice.
