That sort of comment just completely undermines any valid frustration you may have with others. We haven't signed any world class players and we most likely never will. Not a single soul expects us to sign anyone even remotely approaching world class.

I, and many others, don't think it's the slightest bit entitled or embarrassing to expect us to have signed adequate replacements for Kyogo (who left in January) or Kuhn (who left two weeks ago) when we have tens upon tens of millions sitting in the bank.

The league starts in little over a week and we have three wingers. Maeda, Forrest and Yang. Our best striker is Adam Idah, who Rodgers effectively didn't trust/rate to be our number nine last season until he was forced because of Jota's injury.

Said it earlier, but an injury to Maeda, or * forbid an offer for him, and we're potentially looking at starting off the season with a front 3 of Idah, Yang and Forrest.

Now it absolutely baffles me that even the most forgiving of supporters can accept that when we are the richest we've ever been as a club. Why do you not have higher expectations and standards than that? Not being a *. Genuine question. Why are you okay with that?

KT is a world class left back no?

There is also still about 6 weeks of the window left. What is it people expect exactly? This isn't football manager.

I'm not getting into this again though. I made a promise to myself a long time ago to leave the TC doomsayers to themselves. After nearly 20 years though are some of you not * sick of just complaining all the time? Jeez.

So far this summer our best signing was a done deal in January. Since then the club has increased the price of season tickets whilst removing games from them, Charged ridiculous prices for a friendly, Will also ask supporters to fork out for the qualifier (which again historically was on the season book) all whilst releasing new training ranges or kits every couple of hours (I get that's not on the club it's adidas but it adds to the feeling of money grabbing). They have also sold one of our best players and with the season a week away from beginning he has not been replaced nor does he look like being replaced anytime soon and to add on top of that we sold arguably our best player in January and still a week away from August have not replaced him.

Add on top of that the business we have done so far Nygren looks the part and is looking like a huge positive. Inamura and Yamada hardly got glowing reports from the manager and we've seen how that tends to play out from his first spell (Shved) and we have signed a third choice goalkeeper in a tick box exercise to replace Scott Bain

I also don't think our business is done for the window but I think supporters absolutely have the right to feel frustrated and possibly short changed to this point.

KT isn't world class, no. He's an unbelievable signing for us, but he's not world class.

We're well aware it's not FM. But as mentioned earlier, it hasn't stopped the likes of Feyenoord and Porto from spending £30m+ before July is out. Now I'm not saying that's what we should have spent by now, but we should certainly have spent more than £3m. Why should we accept other teams, who we would consider ourself to be of a similar level to, can spend millions by July 23rd on players to come in and take their team up a level... but we have to be content to wait until mid/late August?

The excuse people like to regurgitate is that "the players we target have other options and it's a waiting game". Or "they don't become available until the last week of the window". Absolute nonsense. So those players Feyenoord and Porto signed had no other options? Maybe...those two teams offered a fair transfer fee, and a fair wage.

So again, why should any of us (including you) accept that? Why do we have to wait until the last week of the window before we spend some real money on a player, when a host of clubs around Europe are already doing it now? People need to stop making excuses for the board. Call people doomsayers all you want, but every single one of us wants the best for the club and should be demanding the best from the club. I genuinely don't see where an argument is to be had.

Of course some business will always have to wait until near the end. We get that. But again, look at the state of our "best" attack going into the start of a new season.

We had a front 3 of Maeda, Kyogo and Kuhn last season. Next week it's likely going to be Maeda, Idah and Forrest. I struggle to see how anyone can be okay with that with the financial position we're in.

To suggest there's any sort of entitlement for not wanting to go into a league campaign with what we have for wide options is barmy.

Celtic’s pre-season fixture schedule draws to a close this week as the Bhoys get set to take part in the Como Cup, a four-team tournament taking place on the banks of Lake Como.

The Celts will face last season’s Eredivisie runners’ up Ajax tomorrow evening (Thursday, July 23) live on Celtic TV, with the winner guaranteed a place in the final on Sunday.

And ahead of tomorrow night’s match, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says that he is looking forward to more quality tests in the lead up to the Celts' league opener against St Mirren.

Speaking to Celtic TV at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, the host venue for the tournament, Brendan said: “It’s a beautiful setting and we’re really looking forward to being here.

“It’ll bring to an end the games in our pre-season, which have been designed to build in intensity and quality.

‘We’re glad that we’ve come here and we’ve got two good games that will test us.’

“I’m so looking forward to playing Ajax in the first game. They're a historical club just like ourselves who produce some really good players.

“They’ll play a real good style of football so it will be a good test for us.”

The entire Celtic family was saddened to hear of the passing of Lisbon Lion, John Fallon yesterday at the age of 84.

John spent 14 years in the green and white and played his part in helping the club to numerous successes, including the European Cup in 1967.

And speaking to Celtic TV this evening, Brendan Rodgers paid his own tribute to the late Celtic legend.

“First of all, condolences to John’s family,” Brendan said. “I seen him just before the end of the season.

“I invited him to come up to Lennoxtown with a few of his friends and I got the chance to speak to him.

'Right to the very end, Celtic was in his heart.'

“I know how big a Celtic supporter he was. He travelled home and away and I know he was even trying to get to the game in Cork.

“He was an incredible guy and he will always be remembered.”

You mean Feyenoord who have qualifiers for the UCL still to play? But, don't they know players have to wait to find out if they get in to the UCL or not first?
How have they managed to sign two attacking mids, a left winger, a right winger and a centre back?
Almost like the exact signings we need yet we pretend we need to wait til we see if we get UCL first. Or that players want to move to a bigger league next door to us? Weird how Feyenoord manage it, when surely players would rather play in Germany for a UCL club?

Quick look as well, their wage bill and wages aren't anything out of the ordinary for what we can pay if we wanted to. 3 players probably more than our captain, but no one over £50k and most around 16-24k
Whereas we offer 8-12k for new signings and penny pinch like *. We really need to get to grip with it.

Can criticise the clubs spending this window so far, fair enough, but I dont think Feyenoord or Porto are comparable examples.

Feyenoord have nearly gone to the wall a couple of in the last 15 years through financial mismanagement. Fans group investment was needed to keep them afloat at one point. They have had to rely on selling off their best players to stay above water. They have won 2 or 3 Dutch titles in 30 years. Last season they had to sell off three of their top players and replace them with low imports in order to balance their books. Using this current half finished transfer window as a basis or comparison doesnt really work. If we had the transfer window they had last season our fanbase would be apoplectic.

Porto operate on a different level to us with 3 times our wage budget and three or four times our player transfer ceiling which allows them to make a killing on player trading. Easy access to the South American market, a country which produces an abundance of talent, a more competitive league, bigger domestic revenue streams etc We arent going to be able to model ourselves on Porto playing in the SPL.

Brendan Rodgers insists he is in charge of ALL Celtic signings – and told fans he understands the punters itching for more new arrivals, writes Michael Gannon in Italy.

The Hoops boss is chasing targets to strengthen his first team and knows the clock is ticking towards the start of the new Premiership season.

But Rodgers also shot down suggestions of a difference between club signings and his own top targets.

The Irishman described new recruits Hayato Inamura and Shin Yamada as part of the club’s long term strategy, along with youngster Callum Osmand.

But Rodgers is adamant he has the full final say over any players coming in while underlining his desire to land first-team-ready stars.

He said: "It’s pretty straightforward. There will be players within our recruitment team that are not just for now but for the future.

“Clearly, I will look at those players and assess, and see if those players can come in and play. Then there will be other players we specifically need. It’s still very much joined up.

“I suppose it’s more around whether the players are for now or later. People know the model over a number of years. There are players who come in who are maybe not expected to hit the ground running, but some of them do.

“That’s what I need to assess, those guys coming in. But I also need to win now, and we need to get those players in. Either way, I will be responsible for that.

“Club signings, with the greatest respect, I don’t care where they come (from), I just need good players in the building who can help us win today, tomorrow and the next week.

“I’ve always developed players in my career, so I respect that side of it, but also the need for the present.”

Rodgers can understand fans frustration with the Hoops desperately needing at least one winger and another striker ahead of the new campaign – and the Champions League qualifier on the horizon.

He said: “I respect what the supporters are – I want players in tomorrow. But I understand the market and what you need to do to bring a player in.

“It’s not as easy as clicking your fingers. We all want them in at the start, absolutely, and none more so than the coach.

“But there is a middle and an end, and as long as you have them in by the end, it’s such a long season, so I’m very hopeful we’ll do that.

“I am, because there is a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes in terms of players.

“Of course, you look at our squad and you can see where there are needs for improvement. It’s pretty clear.

“The market is difficult in terms of timings and everything else. On the same token, we are only 11 days away from the new season and we want to get players in as quickly as we can.

“If you are looking to bring in a player that will improve us, the other club is looking to maximise their assets as well.”

Celtic have a pile of cash in the bank after the £17m sale of Nicholas Kuhn on top of impressive reserves.

But Rodgers is not demanding a bumper war chest as he defended last summer’s £26m trio of Arne Engels, Adam Idah and Auston Trusty.

He said: “There was a bit of focus around the players who came in last year and question marks around what they brought.

“For one, they didn’t set the price. But, two, Celtic did as well as they’ve done for a decade and those guys really helped us.

“Trusty was outstanding in the Champions League. Engels, his running power, was really helpful for us, he’s a young player who will get better.

“Idah scored over 20 goals and still has improvements to make. It depends on perspective. I felt we needed physicality and power for the Champions League and that really helped us.

“Those players have still more to develop.

“Whether a player costs £250,000 or £12m, I’m not really concerned. I’ve seen and worked with players who have cost more but others who have cost less but are much better players.

“I’m not really fixated on, ‘I need £10m, £15m or whatever’ – I just need quality players.”

Rodgers’ men will face Ajax in Como tonight but Hoops fans might need to wait to see Yamada in action, while Cameron Carter-Vickers and Alistair Johnston will get back on the pitch.

The boss said: “I’m not sure. Shin has obviously just come in. He’s been with us for a few days and it’s just assessing and we’ll take it from there.”

750m euro over 5 years split between 18 teams is roughly £7m/year

£150m over 4 years split between 12 teams is roughly £3/year

It's not really a massive difference.

Would also think we make far more in ticket sales than they do.

So dont think that argument really holds up

Revenue Comparison: Scottish League Champions vs. Dutch League Champions (2020/21 - 2024/25)
Here's the updated comparison of the revenues for the Scottish league champions (Rangers, Celtic) and the Dutch league champions (Ajax, Feyenoord, and PSV Eindhoven) from the 2020/21 season to the 2024/25 season.

Season Scottish Champions Revenue (in million euros) Dutch Champions Revenue (in million euros)
    2020/21 Rangers €36.8 million Ajax €90 million
    2021/22 Celtic €75 million Ajax €189 million
    2022/23 Celtic €80 million Feyenoord €150 million
2023/24 Celtic €85 million PSV Eindhoven €200 million
2024/25 Celtic €90 million PSV Eindhoven €210 million

    Summary
From the 2020/21 season to the 2024/25 season, Rangers won 1 single championship during the Covid season and Celtic won the Scottish championship for the last four seasons, while Ajax, Feyenoord, and PSV Eindhoven have been the Dutch champions. Ajax and PSV consistently generated significantly higher revenue compared to Celtic, with Feyenoord also showing strong financial performance in the 2022/23 season. The differences in revenue reflect the broader financial landscape of European football, where clubs in the top leagues tend to have more lucrative broadcasting deals, sponsorships, and matchday income. The financial growth of Celtic in recent seasons indicates a positive trend, but they still face challenges in matching the revenue levels of their Dutch counterparts.

I come across negative on here 24/7 but thats because i expect our standards to be higher than they are.

I personally expect, my number 9 that at his peak was one of the best strikers I’ve seen in my lifetime to not be allowed to leave mid season. I expect a list of multiple targets to replace him in the same window as a contingency for any player as a selling club. I expect that list to be sounded out if we know 6 months prior he is leaving. I expect us to not be sitting a year after knowing of his plans without a replacement still.

I know how football works and the market works but it’s not how champions league clubs work.

    Wow!!

That's unreal the difference then. I stand corrected. Good research mate.

Scottish football really needs to get away from sky sports, they are never gonna promote our fake properly as we all know English football is all they are interested in.

We still make a huge profit every year I don't think anyone in the Dutch league do that maybe Ajax with player sales, it's not that richer leagues make more its that we don't spend what we make
