We don't even know that Rodgers wants to stay longer. He might be content to see his contract out and that partly why he's disengaged.

Aye, the first two windows of Ange and Nicholson getting quality business done early is a distant memory and false dawn in terms of a proactive, dynamic transfer model.. probably more to do with Ange being a force of nature and knowledge of Kyogo etc..

When we talk about restructure and maybe a DoF there's a valid argument that we wouldn't get that right. And we'd end up with a Celtic man and no real change.

If the rumours are true about Nicholson trying to recruit a DoF and being told to wind it in, then.. unfortunately it will likely take for the Huns to get success from their model(they have a model and structure), before we make the changes required to be modern thinking and unlocking our potential.. or a change of ownership.

That could very well be the case but it doesn't really alter my concerns about how we operate behind the scenes tbh.

Getting a bit of deja vu from the first time he was here but instead of signing a load of wingers he has no clue about it’s strikers

Sure, I agree that part needs addressed and has for decades.

My point was more about us not backing him. If he's not staying then the club bringing in low cost, low risk options that have been identified by the internal team makes sense whilst they identify the next manager and then provide them with a budget and fairly clean slate. That's part of the setup you want I'd assume?

No idea if that's the case though, just hypothesising.

I actually think Rodgers has looked pretty relaxed and was almost expecting another year. Regardless I think this year will be a positive one.

With the addition of Nygren and clear lack of depth/quality wingers and strikers might we see a 4-4-2?
Instead of force fitting the likes of Yang, Forrest etc, that extra man in midfield with Engels/Calmac sharing the #6 duties could be great versus the better teams in UCL.
Or even wilder, 3-4-3 with KT at LCB.

Rogers is total a slave to systems though, but I live in hope he at least flexes for certain games, like UCL or last 4 old firm games where we have been schooled tactically.

    Kasper
    AJ - CCV - Trusty - KT
    Nygren - Calmac - Hattate - Engels
    Maeda - Idah/New

Have a strong feeling that this will be Rodgers last season and the next manager that comes in will not be at the same level as him.

We do need to start preparing that this could be the beginning of the end unfortunately.

For me, there is only one standout in the SPL and that is Steven Pressley. Probably the only one who has the capability to manage us so let’s see if he pulls up trees with Dundee.

Other than that we will probably need to look to England or abroad

What would be great is if we got some young, risk tolerant, innovators in at board level - an investment banker/markets/private equity type guy rather than the conservative accountants and lawyers we’ve been stuck with. The club feels archaic in many places - for christs sake we still don’t have a digital ticketing marketplace.

Our starting 11 is solid. The issue is if you scratch below the surface we are very very average I’m happy with what we have d brought in but we need a couple of big hitters. We add firepower a no nonsense CB and a bit of flair in the middle and we will be a force next season. Time to see some quality come on board.

Beat aff Airdrie, then aff Alloa. Think we can rule out Pressley. He will have left the building before Xmas.

Elvis!!??? for * sake he shouldn't even be considered for Celtic Manager, he won't last at Dundee the way things are going, he did a turn for us as a player but should not be considered as a manager for us at all.

Hoping he stays. Just very content with him as manager tbh.

I don't think he will. But anyway. Good to hear him reinforcing the expectation of more signings.

He's just (relatively) quietly doing the coaching and structuring behind the scenes, and going about the business of trampling domestic opponents and adding some credibility in Europe...

If we get CL, do well in it and start to pull away in the league it will be difficult to see us hold onto him. Our board just won't push the boat out to the extent he'd want, and our league won't attract the level of players he'd want. Love him, loathe him, indifferent to him... He's a * of a coach!

Mark Guidi on Go Radio today claiming he knows with confidence that Rodgers wants to stay. "All going well".

No idea how he would know that but, anyway.

    Mentioned on yesterday’s show

However, journalist Mark Guidi has shared what he ‘knows’ about Rodgers and his desire to stay at Celtic beyond next summer.

So far, Rodgers has remained tight-lipped on his intentions beyond next summer. Does he really want to stay longer at Celtic or does he want to leave?

The Hoops support will be keen for him to extend his stay as Celtic boss and Guidi says he ‘knows’ that’s what Rodgers wants too.

Guidi told The Go Radio Football Show [4m 55s], “Well, what I would say, Paul, without fear of contradiction is all things being right, Brendan Rodgers wants to stay. Okay? He wants to stay.

Yeah. Now, you want to stay, but being given the tools that you feel that you need to go and keep improving year after year, that’s a big thing. Will the club back him in that way?

“But I do know and I’m confident that he wants to stay. He wants to commit the longer, but it’s like any walk of life, you only commit if you feel you’re going to be given the tools to do the job and to take the club forward.”

As previously said, Rodgers met with Desmond just under ten days’ ago and since then there has been no update for the Celtic supporters.

Rodgers said at the time, “Yes, we spoke with all the guys. I had a meal and a chat around a number of things. So, yes, I had a nice meet. We touched base on it.

“But it primarily is just a chat around things. Like I’ve said, it’s still a long, long way out. But my focus is really just now getting the team ready and making us really competitive and exciting for this coming season.

“But a year’s a long, long way out.”

A year is a long way out and it will feel much longer for the Celtic fans if the chat around Rodgers and his future continues. The club needs to sort it out sooner, rather than later.

With how the transfers are going I can't see this being true.

What's wrong with the transfers exactly?

KT a world class player, Nygren who looks like a great find. Another 4 or 5 players as well.

What exactly is the problem here?

I'm really not seeing why people are angry? Sure more business would be better by now but I doubt we are done by a long shot.

Why is everything instant these days? 6 world class players within a week of the window opening or people lose their *.

    It's entitled and frankly embarrassing.

Not necessarily aimed at you mate but it's annoying the life out of me.
