For the guys and gals who watch this, what do you make of John Cena's heel run?

Been underwhelming for me. Should've gone all in and made him a proper machine. Should've still been Super Cena who's able to bulldoze the competition and win matches clean. Instead of making him look like he's about to lose every match unless he low blows his opponent or hits them with the title.

Also think they really took an amazing moment away from his 17th title win. That should've been done with him as a face. Let him enjoy the night with the fans and be allowed to soak it in properly. Then turn him heel the next night on Raw.

Love that they've tried to give WWE fans who watched John Cena for years the chance to see him play his character as a bad guy. But something's been missing. Think we were all expecting to see "badass doesn't give a *" Cena. Instead we're just getting him being whingy about stuff that doesn't make sense.

He's dealing with the problem that there isn't really a main event threat. Cody struggled with it too. Everybody was demolished by Roman Reigns and I think it's left long term issues. The title will just go back to Cody as there is nobody else.

Doesn't help that often when wrestlers are at the mater stage of careers/older, they can't wrestle for *.
Every move is slow and laboured so there is little to no fun in watching the matches.

Which is probably why they've resorted to the cheap low blows for the heel turn.
Noticed they for Paul Heyman in on the low blows, feels like they've used that triple cross as a way to normalise and make low blows an acceptable form of heel moment to make it more palatable for Cena doing it and not looking as cheap as it is.

They'll obviously turn him again back to baby face, just how and when.

I agree, making his record 17th be gifted in this cheap turn way is probably gonna leave a mark on it all, but perhaps Cena loses the title, has a moment to realise the errors of his way, then goes for the 18th and short lived title before bowing out as a baby face legend who won and lost the way he should.

I'm going to watch this but I wonder if he would say his war with Shane McMahon is his best. For me it is his match against Lesnar but that I can't see him saying people would disagree (with the Lesnar match) with his personal best match, as he says at the start.

    Edit.

Ok a few mins later he said the McMahon match so it's not that one :giggle1:

    It has to be Lesnar.

see tbh I stopped properly watching around 2002 so missed a lot of good stuff onwards..been watching a lot from post-Attitude era for few years now and can say missed out on a lot of classic stuff.

Wrestling Bios channel on YT been a big part of it -(reigniting interest) no doubt you’re aware of it but can’t recommend it highly enough man.

I'm the exact same as you, stopped watching in early 2000s but enjoy some YouTube shows now. Been watching reliving the war by wrestling bios as you mentioned, and also like putting on 'the story of...' videos by TH14 as background when I'm doing stuff around the house.

Stevie Richards and Mavens channels are good too
