Rodgers was delighted with the display but Celts could have been even more comfortable after hitman Adam Idah missed a couple of first half chances.

My summary comes from watching him over the last year and a half.

£5m back on him isn't a disaster. And you might think that's brainless but sometimes you have to know when to cut your losses.

At 24 Idah definiely has some development left in him but there's too many shortcomings at present to suggest he's on the cusp of being a) good enough to be starting for us in the CL and b) worth anything close to £9m. To get him to either of those places, we would need to start him week-in-week-out over the next season or so - and there's always the risk that he just never improves to that level.

At a certain point, persevering with a player becomes more about sunk costs rather than how far you can reasonably hope they'll develop. Watching Idah's progress over the past 18 months, I guarantee you there's a bid that the board would accept today that is substantially below the £9m originally paid. If Norwich came in and said, we'll take him back, £6.5.-7m, the board would take the hand off them.

 

2nd goal just doesn't happen if he's still on the pitch. Just not his style to take the ball in and drive on, which is fine.

But where you think he would be good, in the air, harassing CBs using his size, natural predatory instinct in the box is lacking.

He needs to sharpen up pronto as patience from the manager and fans is draining fast.

 

I think when we see big players tall and built we just assume they are going to bully smaller guys with no issue but what we have with him and engels is the opposite as much as id love this guy and AE to succeed I'm just not sure they have the fight too, here anyway

I can't agree, if we were looking to sell him today then they'd be looking to make a profit. That's how they operate.

Plus selling him now would give us the headache of looking for another striker that fits Rodgers' needs.

 

As soon as he hits a bit of form we need to sell him to be honest and get money back, Giako was an overall superior player and doubt Idah will reach that level consistently.

 

Was he not on TikTok doing some stupid dance last year. I'd treat him like a toddler and lock his account and he can only get back on if he scores a double every game.

In all seriousness though, * Norwich. They sold us a pup and every person on here said it at the time. Never worth that in a million years.

We wouldn't even get 5m for him, think we're going to have him as #1 until Jota comes back in January then make a decision there

 

To be fair, it's not just after a preseason friendly though

Many folk disagreed with signing him full time during his loan stint, most turned okay to the idea after the Kilmarnock game thinking the player was in there to come out.
Then the price for ridiculous and after he did sign, the entirety of last season he never at all stepped up to show his worth or capability to be a number one striker.

It looks like he's starting the new season much as he done the last 18 months.
So it's after 18 months and starting in a third season that people are sticking the boot in
