Dread to think what this forum was like when we shipped 6 against Yokohoma F. Marinos.

 

Our squad lacks depth in quality - take away the first so called first 12 or 13 and we are struggling. We need to bring 3 players who will go straight in to the starting 11. The signings he made last year don't look great now. We spent over 30 million. Spending 30 million on the wrong players is something we cannot afford.

 

I'm not prepared to give up on Dane Murray.

I've always felt he was the better bet than Welsh, but some really bad injuries stunted his developement. He had a very good loan spell with Queens Park, and by all accounts he was their best player. The mistake against Villa away probably dented his confidence a good bit, but I think he is well worth persevering with, to see how he cuts it this year.

 

Not sure if there's still a penalty for playing with the 1st team, that means it's then difficult to play for any of the other teams - you can promote up, but not play back at lower levels for a couple of weeks. Definitely used to be something like that in effect. Very unhelpful for developing talent

 

Got the time of this mixed up. Not bothered by the result, but hope we get a new signing or 2 in by the next game to adjust to our system.

It certainly doesn't help, but if they perform well keep them in the first team. After all when they reach a certain age the'll be ineligeble for the b team anyway.

Mate, I'd very happily have a squad of about 40 players, where we have a cast iron 10 quality players, 10 more good/top SPFL level, and then an assortment of development players who we promote about 5 of every year... If they're not even in the SPFL 10 by the 3rd year then sell... I think we'd probably be surprised how many would comfortably move in to compete for the established 20 before long...

 

Dont care about the result but do we need to be giving mcgregor so many minutes? Does he have to play every pre season game?

Hes had so much football and will no doubt play almost every minute this year. Think we could do with reducing his workload

 

It's been needed for a while now mate. We are not managing his game time properly and giving him enough time to rest in between games. A major problen with McGregor now is unfortunately, he is standing in the way, up until this point in time, from us getting a proper, powerful and pacy CDM.

Being captain he is seen as undroppable, and we have been very reluctant to move him forward to a more attacking No.8. Sooner or later the management are going to be forced to address the question of McGregor's future role in the team, for the sake of progress and continuing dominance at home.

 

He only played the first half against Cork and 60 minutes today. Don't think it's a concern at the moment.

 

Pre season last year: we had Kyogo,Khun and O Riley playing well and scoring a lot of goals against good opposition.That quality imo is still to be replaced.

Plenty of time yet,but need three quality replacements in the starting eleven.

 

Yep, he wanted gone so fair enough, but he's hard to replace. Those numbers are as good as any winger we've had.

 

Great stats,considering he tailed off for a good part of the season.Fingers crossed that we can get goal scorers in.
