we would be better selling mccowan and bernardo if there is any intention of signing miller or improving the midfield

McCowan is an ideal squad player, always makes an impact domestically.. we need players like him..

Bernardo had a very disappointing season last season.. I expected much much more.

aye we could stick with them but our midfield wont improve we need to sign someone capable of forcing hatate, engels or mcgregor out of the team nygren might get a chance because hes supposedly more attacking and would help the balance of the side as you mentioned .dont think we need 2 squad players instead of another first team one

It's a weird feeling, because at this point in the window, there's no way of knowing how it's going to pan out. It's silly to panic when there's so much time left; but on the other hand, we are clearly weaker here and now than we were at the start of last season.

We've lost Kyogo and Kühn and not replaced them and Schmeichel and McGregor are a year older. Sure, KT is an upgrade on Taylor; but even assuming he stays fit, he's not going to play 2 games a week all winter and unless we get decent backup, that could end up being a mixed bag domestically. I think people underestimate what a big loss Taylor is. We also got Jota in; but he's going to miss half the season.

Add to that the fact that we're not guaranteed to hold on to Hatate, CCV or Maeda and we really need to be getting this right. We can't afford another summer 2023. So while I'm not against any individual project signing, I am a bit worried that there have been so many.

Plenty of time left and I'm not panicking; but I'm not super confident in our recruitment team either. I don't blame the money men, actually. I think the fees for Engels, Idah, Jota 1.0 show that we are willing to spend; but who can we point to as a really good signing our recruitment team made in the last 5 years? Maybe only Matt O' Riley IMO. Maeda, Hatate and Kyogo were clearly Ange. CCV and Jota (the first time) were after successful loan spells. Engels and Schmeichel were clearly Rodgers signings. KT and Jota 2.0 had been successful here before.

So other than O'Riley, what good signings have the recruitment team found in the past 5 years.

Genuine suggestion: if we're determined to keep tapping the Asian market (and it seems we are), ask Ange to take a summer job for a month and a half looking at that for us. We can afford it, he knows the market and he's not working right now AFAIK.

I agree with a lot of this but talking about recruitment team I believe they found Kuhn and Alastair Johnston but other than that it’s pretty slim pickings since O’Riley. That summer 2023 window was atrocious and I think we have somewhat suffered since then as we have been laboured with a lot of numbers that impact the wage bill.

At least a few of these have started to move on but Tilio, Kwon, Yang, and Palma could all be doing with being moved on to make way for players that can have an impact.

Yes, you are right that I overlooked Kühn and AJ and thank you for correcting me on that. I still think even 3 good finds in 5 years (10 windows) is not filling me with confidence in them TBH. :giggle1:

No I agree on that its slim pickings especially with the amount of misses and sort of done a job types.

he has covered his fee by helping us win league two season ago.
Keeping Huns from champion league money
Rodger’s need set team up to play to his strengths and goals will come.
He scored 20 last season been part time player
I say he only started 10 games from start

I’ll admit I’m a little worried for this coming season. Rodgers seems largely checked out to me and a few players seem to be going through the motions since we created a huge gap in January last season.

We need a lift. Nicholson needs to recognise that. Something to excite the squad and spark some ambition.

    We’re sleepwalking again.

We are always weaker every summer window, it happens every year and our own board can't see it.

His fee was paid after his loan.. so not sure how he the fee can be covered.

We've definitely overpaid, no doubt about that.

Hes done ok, want to see him really kick on this season and hopefully a wee change of system will help him. I like the big man and will get a chance to be no1, but he needs to want it more..

He looked far more determined during his loan than he did last season.

Strong enough first eleven. Obviously hoping new cb isn't just a back up but not so sure. Can't see us having Scales or Trusty as back up. Both of them more often than not however are the weak link. Probably the Belgian lad as new RW

    Big few weeks coming up.

We knew the squad was a bit tired going into this window. I've been admant that we will strengthen but also that I do have my own concerns.

I worry that we don't think as much work is required as many fans do. Its certainly more than just a couple tweaks here and there as I've seen the media suggest.

Right now you wouldn't know who's sitting with millions in the bank. What use is it doing there really. The biggest return we can get is by investing in quality on the park. Over to them...again.

Wow, im so honoured to be given this opportunity to answer you with my pish.

    why such butthurt ffs?

Fine, Ill answer you. Of course I wouldn't be happy, I've said in numerous "pish" responses, especially before fixtures against them, that on paper, man for man, we are are the stronger side. Same again this transfer window.

I wouldn't been "happy" with any of their signings last year either, but they managed to * spank us last year without issue, knocking 9 goals past us in 3 fixtures with relative * ease.

Including our "elite" manager getting tactically spanked by a Belgian walter mitty idiot who was sacked, and a * quadro of TV pundits who had a combined managerial CV of a * sunday league stand-in coach.

I also stated in my "pish", as did more than a clutch of others, that if theyd a competent coach that could navigate the pish in this league we'd have been in real * fight to keep our crown.

So what exactly has does their signings have to do with our clubs/ managers blatant inability to see what we are in dire NEED of, as stated in my pish post?

I'll say it again, IF Sevco have got themselves a manager whi can beat the dross, and IF we are once again relying on the likes of Scales, Yang, Kenny etc to push us on as a team, then yes, we are in big * trouble.

But hey, you keep telling yourself that on paper our transfers are better, so not to worry.

Feel free to hit the ignore button.

    @LectersLuncheon

You might have noticed then when some posters on the forum have opposing views to you, they call it pish.
They fail to see their own pish they are posting, due to their own blinkers on. :56:

No idea what rangers will be like this year. Its hard to imagine them being any eorse than last year.

The derbies were a big concern for me. But they got their results by switching their apptoach from trying to go toe to toe with us in favour of trying to neutralise us. Unfortunately it was pretty effective and we seemed to have no good response to it which was disappointing given the calibre of manager we have.

The flip side of that is they couldnt use that approach against the rest of the spl and were pretty abysmal at trying to win games where they had to break teams down.

Totally different manager this year though. On paper their signings and new manager shouldnt be anything to worry about but footballs a funny game and you never really know.

We are in a different position to rangers. They have a new manager and are pretty much in replace the entire team mode bar a handful of players. We have the core of a reasonably settled team and a manager who knows the game up here very well.

Coming from you, who genuinely might be the most dense user on here, that's a compliment.
Funny how long it took you to reply.

If your first instinct is "Block me" then it's clear you can't handle criticism with your posts, and you post inane nonsense on a regular basis.

You've been negative on here since Rodgers joined, I don't think I've seen one positive post from you in the last 3 years, you're another guy who mysteriously vanishes when things go well. You're either * on the club, * on Rodgers or lurking in the huns thread (where I'll give you credit, you can come up with some funny posts there)

The main goal for us is to always be moving forward, that means not rushing transfers like our neighbours across the city. I wouldn't call you, or anyone else out, had these discussions been happening from the middle of August, but considering it's still July, I'd be more than happy to wait before I let Celtic dictate my summer. If either of Yang and Kenny start for us come September, you can tag me and I'll happily apologise (Scales, as * as he is, will likely be kept as our backup so not as unlikely)

Yes, they got the better of us last year, and that's something that needs addressed, but that's essentially 2 summers in 9 years they've done better than us in the league in head to head, and the two games we won last year were the two that mattered.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings :50:
