Had a great record at Molde. Was a very strange signing at the time and I'm sure he was a record sale for Molde, which they've never received since. £12m or something. Had we not signed Yamada/Osmand, would have been all over that as a signing.

Yeah the worry for me is with still looking at Ambrosino after Yamada, why are we still looking at strikers?

We can debate quality of Maeda, Idah and Yamada being our main three options but surely we aren’t bringing in a fourth for one position?

I am not totally convinced Maeda will definitely be here come the end of the window.

If Maeda goes and we are left with

    Idah
    Yamada (1.5m)
    Ambrosino (loan)
    Osmand (500k)

Then, quite rightly, this place will implode :giggle1:

Don't think Maeda goes to be honest.

Absolutely nothing. Just thought we would have heard far more concrete whispers. Been absolutely nothing about Hatate or Maeda for the last few weeks.

I think we keep both and maybe sell them at a reduced fee next summer.

Which I'd be more than fine with tbh.

I'd be ok about selling Hatate, especially if we go back to a 4-2-3-1. He isn't going to play in front of McGregor, he shouldn't play as an attacking midfielder because he's much better picking the ball up from deep and I think we play Engels as a 6 with McGregor, given we know he has the attributes to play differently to McGregor.

    Realistically though that is

    Idah £9m
    Ambrosino £3-4m
    Yamada £1.5m
    Osmand £0.5m

It wouldn’t surprise me if a Brentford or West Ham put a bid in for Maeda. He will definitely have suitors after his season last year.

It would be awful business though if Kyogo and Maeda were to leave for say £30m combined and we brought in 3 strikers, two of whom are projects in every sense of the word and another in Yamada who is probably still a project and hasn't been in form.

    Where's the £3/4m coming from..?

Thought it was loan with possible buy option around the £9m mark?

I also dont believe we're selling Maeda in this window with Kuhn going and Jota out until the New Year

The last report I saw was another Italian club had bid €3m for him with a significant sell on. It’s the only time I have seen a figure put on him, it has also been reported in Italy it is a permanent deal we have been looking for rather than a loan. The loan chat seemed to come from Calgari and another making loan offers for him.

He only has a year left on his deal so unless he signs a new one it won’t be a loan.

I am not saying it isn’t terrible business but I do find it weird we are still looking at strikers. Unless this is a case of Rodgers was presented with Ambrosino and liked the look of him, whilst the club are out signing Yamada.

I just don't think Ambrosino is an out and out striker. I'm intrigued with the thinking.

He has a low shot output and finishing output. But high passing.

If we are doing our scouting properly then he surely isn't being targeted to replace a goalscorer.
