I dont think Maeda goes back on the left tbh, He was excellent at ST and I think that's where he plays this season.

I think we likely give Osmund pre season then loan him out, similar to what I expect us to do with Inamura.

I have a feeling Idah will be away in January if he doesn't kick on straight away.

Aye it would be extremely disappointing.

Let’s give the club the benefit of the doubt in saying they’ve replaced Kyogo with Maeda up front. It means we need to replace Maeda on the Left wing and we also need to cover the Jota injury.

Im happy with a front 3 of Maeda, Idah and Osmand. I’d prefer to see us begin to change up the wings. Getting the likes of Palma, Yang and Tilio off the books permanently, bringing in another 3 wingers, with Jota to come back and Forrest as a rotational option. So, another LW, say Balikwisha and a couple of RWs.

    ST- Maeda, Idah and Osmand
    LW- Jota, Balikwisha
RW- New RW, Young new RW, Forrest
    AM- Nygren, Ambrosino.

Aye I'm still confident Maeda stays up top...but if Yamada comes in, Osmand goes out..

Let's hope Yamada does a job..

Said the same as you earlier, we need serious serious signings on the wings now..

I can’t remember if this video was posted already but this is the 21 goals he scored in the 2024 J League season.

I think there is quite a few of them that give of strong Kyogo vibes, in terms of intelligent movement to finish with the head or either foot. There is also a couple of cracking finishes from opportunistic scenarios around the edge of the box.

I do think he clearly had a bit about him, he also has the captains armband for a couple of the games. However, his current form is a worry. The big question is has his loss of form come from how his teams doing overall or has he started playing at a far lower level?

He's fast, strong and has proven he can finish in the not too distant past. I like how he uses his body to back into defenders and win fouls.

If the intention is for a 3rd choice striker then we ain't gonna spend big there in any scenario, so.

I'm not as annoyed at this tbh.

In fairness, the video above, he looks very very good. His finishing and his positioning is excellent.

I just think that we don’t help ourselves when it comes to attracting youth when we bring in a young, promising striker from a well thought of youth set up and the first thing we do is punt him out on loan. He could have went out on loan at Fulham.

Do we really need another 3rd choice striker tho?

We already have Kenny and Osmand for that role.

I get 2 will likely go out on loan but given we seem completely incapable of doing more than 1 deal at a time should this really be a priority signing right now when we are crying out for wingers and centre backs and a left back all within the next month

    * knows, but I do like the look of him and trying to find a positive in it.

As much as Osmand has potential as well I'd question whether it's best for his development to remain 3rd choice.

Seems like his side reached the Asian CL final? Watched this and he shows some nice assists and grabs a great header. Looks strong in the air for his size albeit he won't get ad much space as that often here.

Also seems to have drifted wide a lot as well as being captain.

Edit: need to go on YouTube to watch it

Potential 3rd choice striker for £1.5m dont think anyone can complain tbh seems to me idah and daizen (if he stays) will be the main men and with almost 60 goal involvement between them

Rodgers saying we need to replace Kyogo and this guy signing 3 days later suggest to me the intention isn't for him to be third choice at all.
Rodgers has also said its two strikers and a third youngster as the ideal 3....

That is (unfortunately ) exactly how I am reading it.
Yamada "replaces" Kyogo( BR spoke about the need to replace Kyogo this week) with Idah , then Osmand 3rd( the young , development 3rd choice ST that he goes on about ).
Maeda back LW, Kenny loaned out.

So what's the thinking then Kenny signs a new deal and heads out on loan with Osmond and we run with Maeda Idah and Yamada ?

If that's the case then I hope we splash the cash on a winger or 2

    Last part is spot on.

If Yamada is effectively the Kyogo replacement, we need to improve massively out wide.

Nygren will provide goals from midfield. Maeda from the left. We now need a goalscorer and creator on the right and another winger signed who can play either side and chip in with 10-15 as well.

Celtics go to man Big David Friel

SHIN YAMADA is set to fly in for a Celtic medical after coming off Japan duty next week.

The Kawasaki Frontale striker is currently in South Korea for the three-game E-1 international tournament.

We were first to tell you how Yamada, 25, is wanted by the Hoops in a £1.5million deal after impressing in the J.League over the past 18 months.

And it’s understood the move should be finalised following his national team commitments, which end on July 15.

Yamada scored 19 league goals last term. And while he has failed to hit the same form this season, his bustling style has impressed Hoops scouts.

Maeda back to left wing, Kenny out on loan, Osmand, Yamada and Idah for 3 strikers is my guess.
