Aye, it came up how to vote. I know they've changed it generally to player of the match rather than man of the match, which was stupid enough considering in men's football it's men that are playing. They can just call it woman of the match in women's football surely. But this sounds even dafter.

Broken leg and dislocated ankle for Musiala apparently. These teams were mad to play this tourney instead of giving players a wee break. Cash is King tho...

Isn't it just because the sponsor is Michelob Ultra Superior Light Beer?

What’s absolutely crazy is Laimer got a yellow for a “high foot tackle” earlier in the game but was exactly same as that. How then isn’t that a foul in the box :67:

Different format where 2 games would win it, played during the season, now it's 7 games to win and a minimum of 3 when the season has already finished. Many of the players just had to play international football too.

I agree it’s a lot of games. But to compete at the elite of football that’s what you have to deal with… if you want 30-40 games a season you’re best off playing for a Brentford or team who only competes in league football.

I’m sure all those PSG players won’t complain if they go on to win the trophies they have this season and potentially this too

Or you could just make elite football with less games. The Nations league has caused an increase in competitive international games, with more international breaks than ever and it's a competition nobody really gives a * about. The Club world cup, the increase in games in the champions league. 5 years ago players played far less games but we still had elite football.

The difference in decisions given for the same kinda of challenges is wild, I've given up trying to understand it.

It's not just a Scottish referee thing, it's all over the place. There absolutely no continuity in how games are officiated.

Nations league is a strange one for me. It’s definitely removed some of the meaningless international games we used to see and created a better marker for rankings/seeding etc. but as you say also means there’s loads of teams playing irrelevant games if they’re not the group A/B teams.

champions league more games have benefitted us hugely so not sure if that’s a bad thing.

I agree with what you’re saying as a whole but I feel like the world is moving on very quickly and everything is getting a lot more ‘Americanised’ regarding branding, exposure, rules, competitions etc. and although we don’t like it as fans it’s what makes the most money.

and if players themselves want to make the most money then they’re gonna have to be willing to accept what that entails.

one of those things being playing over 70 matches in a season (if you are a team who makes the finals of every comp)
